I was able to locate my maternal GF and his
brothers and sisters in the early 1910's
using Gill's book...something like 11 members of
my family. I do wish there was more on early 20th century
Clinton itself. But still I was able to recommend it
on several Irish lists. It is an interesting piece
in the puzzle of the study of Irish Americans
in my state. I am grateful for his time and research.

The Man Beneath Union Lake is my first taste of a micro-adventure book, and it has definitely whetted my appetite for more. C.L. Vaughn introduces us to Owen Ruger, a fearless adventurer who is not afraid to get in the middle of danger--especially when there is a beautiful woman needing his assistance. Vaughn jumps right into the action and never lets up until the last page of the book. If you love action/adventure books, then give Vaughn's The Man Beneath Union Lake a try. Be warned, however, these micro-adventures can become addictive. Let's hope that this isn't the last we see of Owen Ruger.

Modern Judicial Review?
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 2000-11-09
Clinton's study of the origins of judicial review is very interesting despite some major weaknesses. His attempt to understand what the Framers of the Constitution believed judicial review to be would be much stronger with more detail to the controversies raging within states just after ratification about judicial review. This is because he depends heavily upon his assertion that Marbury was consistent with the generally understood meaning of judicial review that the Framers shared. If there was no generally understood meaning about judicial review, then his hypothesis suffers a major blow.

for those that yearn to understand presidential politicss impact on race & the shortcomings of the individuals that are so often placed on a pedestal--unjustly. To elaborate, former presidents are often looked upon with prestige and honor that frankly, they don't deserve--this book breaks these issues down in detail with the goal of providing a more complete context to these individuals.

"...one would like to think that the U.S. Supreme Court, the highest court in the land, is the one island of sanity still remaining. But if what you folks are about to read is any indication, we've all got a lot to worry about. The question that presents itself is whether the near-pathological dizziness and irrationality in our society has so invaded this nation's marrow that, like a wildly infection virus, even the Supreme Court is not immune."

"Vincent Bugliosi received his law degree in 1964 from UCLA Law School. In his career as a prosecutor for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office, he won 105 out of 106 felony jury trials. His most famous trial was the Charles Manson case, which became the basis of his classic bestselling book, 'Helter Skelter'. Both 'Helter Skelter' and his subsequent 'Till Death Us Do Part' won Edgar Allan Poe Awards for best true-crime book of the year. His next true-crime book, 'And the Sea Will Tell' was #1 on the New York Times hardcover bestseller list, as was his most recent book, 'Outrage: The Five Reasons Why O. J. Simpson Got Away With Murder'.

Well, It seems to be forever while Amazon puts up descriptions, so let me explain right now what this is:

- it's pure convenience

- A very easy way to use the Kindle browser - not by a lot of rolling and clicking to get the browser running each time, but instead, just open an eBook of links and click on one!
- And Boom! you've opened the browser and also a website --and you're reading. And reading! Isn't that how you WANTED it to work?

What's here: a complete set of topic-focused links - not disorganized and weird browser URLs, but clearly labeled so you know what they are.

You don't read it once then discard it, you can use it all during the campaigns to get your daily update fix. It isn't an hours-old downloaded blog, either - it's access to live web news right now.

If you're watching the Obama-Biden campaign unfold, here are very likely all the links you are using on your PC -- but these are different. Instead of going to the main page, these take your Kindle directly to the subpages that have the Election coverage - using mobile format links if there is one.

You get right to the latest breaking news - and to the analysts who cover it - from all angles.

You can also see poll information, re-read the Obama speeches, and check what the opposition is doing lately.

And there are links to view exactly what positions each candidate is taking on each issue.

GLBT coverage is included. So is AARP.

For pure frosting, there is also handy explanation of exactly what to do when your Kindle browser freezes, which it occasionally, but harmlessly will (remember it's experimental, after all) Even the PHONE NUMBER to call Amazon support if you have any other problem.

This whole menu system is one I'm using -- I know you'll find it saves you time and makes YOUR Kindling more enjoyable, too. Best of all, I'm updating this during the campaign as other interesting websites are found or suggested. any updates you'll get FREE - just delete from your Kindle, re-download (as Amazon still knows you bought it) --and there's the latest on your Kindle.

If you see a site that isn't on here, but should be, then just do a short review and tell me. I may add it in the next update and then you'll get that, too. Enjoy...

-Don

This book is one of the rarest in my collection and fills in the time period between the Taft Guides (1925 & 1928) and the Ben Paris Guide (1930 to 1980). It does not follow the same format of any of the other NW fishing guides and is a real treasure for any NW collector.
