Excellent examination of the way America raises its children. A must read for anyone concerned about the welfare of our children and, in turn, the future of our society. If you're considering buying this, I say go ahead -- whether you agree or disagree with its conclusions, this will give you something to think about.

Who would have thought that the "vast right-wing conspiracy" was true after all? This is a well written book for the non-political junkie. I read it a few years ago and it's the one book I keep reflecting on about the Clinton years and the disaster that's in the Whithouse now. If only Clinton had been allowed to focus on much more pressing matters...

Believe me when I say "must read"!

I had the good fortune to see this book in the making when it was a thick sheaf of flimsy printer paper. The words and images collided in gorgeous ways, and I knew something special was taking form.

I love what Robin Chapman and Clint Sprott have done. I love this book. More collaborations like this should be undertaken. It deepens our sensibilities. It enlarges our world. It does something graceful for the heart. The fractal images are beautifully rendered and Sprott's clear, concise definitions of key terms illuminate them for the lay reader. Chapman's poems are in perfect alignment with both the fractals and definitions, showing us "life on the edge of change at every scale."

Here's a coffee table book that goes beyond decoration. Here's a book of poetry that goes beyond words. Here's science that makes itself accessible. I highly recommend this book to artists, scientists, and everyone else who wants to make the connections that help us explain our world and our lives.

Wonderful documentary. This Television special for TV Land covers the full spectrum of politics in primetime from situation comedies to political jokesters. From the Brady Bunch to Pat Paulsen, this documentary attempts to examine politics in terms of television. Notable shows that are included are Laugh-in, Family Ties, Murphy Brown, and as metioned before, The Brady Bunch. This documentary was shown in October of 2004 and the DVD was released in 2005. This documentary is a wonderful way to start a discussion with high school or college students on the impact of television on our views and political convictions.

Jealousy
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2008-01-25
What is jealousy?
What causes it?
Is it natural or learned?
Is it good or bad to be jealous?
How can I cope with my sexual jealousy and that of my partner?
How does jealousy affect marriage and attitudes toward fidelity and extramarital sex?
What is its role in singles' relationships?

Some people view jealousy as evidence of love, whereas others see it as a sign of personal insecurity and defective relationship. This book suggests that, properly understood, an experience of jealousy can be an occasion for creative work on ourselves and our relationships.

In nineteen articles - seven of them written especially for this volume - leading sociologists, psychologists, and marriage counselors explore the dynamics of jealousy as they differ from culture to culture, from couple to couple, and from person to person. The book also focuses on ways in which childhood experiences can trigger jealous reactions in adults. In addition to articles by such contributors as Margaret Mead, Jessie Bernard, Kingsley Davis, A. S. Neill, Albert Ellis, and Robert and Margaret Blood, the editors provide a concluding synthesis that summarizes current knowledge [circa 1977] and its impact upon intimate partnerships today.
