Many dangerous inaccuracies

I was assigned this book for an online pharmacology course connected with a nursing re-entry program. I have found an unacceptable number of errors in this book and believe it can be dangerous for nursing students to use. The publishers should certainly be required to immediately make an erratum available with corrections. I am only about a third of the way through my program and note these errors:

p79 Exercise on sliding scale insulin dosage
**first answer should be TEN units (7+3) (book says 11)
**second answer should be ELEVEN units (7+4 - not 8...)
**p80 example 3 answer should be .66 ml NOT .75

p82 Exercise on drops per minute should say 60gtt PER ML NOT per hour at top of page. Also section is on gtt/min yet the answers are calling for mL/hr...

p261 Q3 answer should be 0.625 NOT 0.75 as noted in answer key.

p 355 paragraph on "fostering health maintenance" lists "high cholesterol foods" as "...fried foods, fatty desserts, and nuts..." While also saying that cholesterol is an animal product and not found in plants.

The book has excellent well written sections which make these errors look like a sloppy lack of editing and quality control.

Claytie and the Lady, needs improvement!

This book covers a great topic that hasn't been addressed in published materials very much. But, it needs some re-writing to be more readable. The first chapter in particular is poorly done. Chapters 2-4 are better, and again 5 is poorly done. The authors attempt to explain the role of gender during the 1990 gubernatorial elections in Texas. At many times, they sound just as confused as the elections were that year. Their general conclusion is that Ann Richards won because Claytie lost! That is probably an accurate conclusion, but their material that attempts to show the role of gender rambles, and does not just get to the point. Please edit and re-publish!

This book was purchased as a gift for a person who is interested in the Clayton family history. A second book for the Hess family was purchased at the same time. Both books are identical with the exception of some unimportant statistical data written in the margins.

The entire experience was a "rip-off" and not even worth the shipping cost.

Both books contain identical routine historical data not related to the families in any way with just token statistical data in the margins that is somewhat relevant to the family name. I also found errors in the statistical data.

I have never been so taken advantage of and question any further dealings with Amazon for even offering such a product.

The books were approximately $30.00 each but not even worth $1.00.

DO NOT BUY THESE BOOKS!!!!

I wrote the same review for the Hess Family book.

This is a very poor book for avid horsemen. It is a physics text book on locamotion with very little usable information about how horses move. With a Master in Science I recognized the tets from undergrad physics courses. While I love Claytons work, like Sport Horse Conditioning, this was a disappointment especially paying $60. It is a text book for a course and should have been labeled as such. Not enough in it about horses to learn how to train different to minimize impact on horses. Don't buy it.

This is a beautifully bound book published by the WH Wolfe Associates in 1993 sponsored by the Genealogical Society of Henry and Clayton Counties, Georgia. The introduction of the book contains a brief history of Henry County from the creation of the County in 1821 to the twentieth century. The genealogical information in the book was contributed by descendants of "the first families." There is no documentation to valuate the data therefore the serious researcher must use the book with apprehension.

Introduction to the Hosptality Industry 3rd edition

Hi I just wanted to comment on your Intro to Hosptality book. I am a college student using this book I also work in the hospitality field and most of the materials and questions given on tests doesn't happen in the "real world" I find that this book doesn't comply with the day to day activity of the hospitality field and the stuff we learn in class is suppost to help us when we get out of school however this learning material doesn't I am not saying this book is porely written just the material in this book is very vague and doesn't go with the things we learn on the job. For example a question on one of the test it asks To meet the competition, upscale restaurants are likey to emphasize on ? your anwser was discounts for people over 65 and another anwser was service. Upscale resturants rely on SERVICE the better the service, the more likey the people will come back! It doesn't matter if your 65 or 25. That was just one example. The whole book has misleading questions that isn't the way the hospitality feild is. And I just figure the whole point of going to school is once you leave the class is to take what you have learned and apply it to every day activity in your hospitality feild. And this book doesn't do that I think this was a waste of my money! I spent about 65 dollars on a book that was useless! I don't mean to be so critical but I pay for school my self and working full time and being a full time student I try to get everything out of my classes I can and get my moneys worth. And this being a required class it doesn't measure up to par and this is not only my opinion but my fellow class mates also.

Mini-roses - in the dark still...

This is Not the book you want to buy, if Any of the following apply: you need specific information on container-planting (more than a few lines); are new to rose-growing; you want more info than the book will provide (no bibliography). I was disappointed in this book. I am a new owner of miniature rose bushes, and wanted a fairly comprehensive volume to explain all aspects of container planting, watering, feeding, how to remove buds and when, etc. This book seemed more like a off-the-cuff attempt at money-making without any attempt at sharing real knowledge of the miniature rose and its care. An experienced rose-grower will likely know all that is contained in these pages, and the novice best look elswhere - as I shall. The pictures are very professionally taken and are pleasant to view, but I would have preferred more descriptives along with photos - e.g. types of soil roses in pictures were planted, feeding schedule of those flowers shown, or something along those lines. The writing style was not clear, and seemed contradictory as well. Definately geared to the coffe table, not the serious grower. The search continues for the perfect rose...mine are dying as I type, thanks in part to my choice of this book, plus a LITTLE help from my general ignorance!

Since I can find no reference to Asimov in the editing, article writing or introduction credits and would suggest that the book is being miss-represented as being by Isaac Asimov.

More religious misinformation

This was required reading when I reached puberty. As a kid, I knew it was a crock, and I "pushed the envelope" as often as possible. I didn't go blind, nothing shriveled up, turned black or fell off. I did not go insane and am glad I paid no attention to the bible thumping self-righteous goof who concocted this rediculous book. I only bought it for nostalgic purposes and to have a few laughs about it with my brother who also recalls having to read it. We are now hedonists. The moral: too much religion is not good for kids.

To say that this is a book about Java Workshop borders on the outrageous. This is a book that teaches you Java, not Java workshop. Out of the over 400 pages of the book, only 50 are devoted to the entire workshop environment - the Portfolio and Project managers, the source editor, the build manager, the source browser, the debugger and visual Java. That works out to about seven pages per subject, and even those are well padded with lots of screenshots of trivial functions. The rest of the book is the Java language basics; Not what you expect when you pick up a book called "Using Java Workshop", and that promises on its front cover to help you "Master the essentials of Sunsoft's hot new Java developement environment".
If you're looking for more information than workshop's own online documentation offers, and if you're looking for _anything_ on the Visual Java classes, don't waste your time here.
