The liquid Salesman is an excellent book. Since I have read it and implemented the techniques it illustrates, my sales have gone through the roof. Not only can you apply these skills in the work force, but in everyday business dealings as well. I defintely reccommend this book to anyone looking to get a leg up over their competition.

Simple and effective. This book is a great addition to any collection. The author does a great job or reviewing the lessons before diving into them. A lot of these sales and motivational book are mostly filler but this one is different.
Some authors sound like they are talking down to you instead of teaching. This book teaches, not scolds for past mistakes or ill planning.

Dr. Chung writes a rich portrait of his Father's life as a Korean evangelist in both the U.S. and Korea.
I read this book in one night. I am not "religious", though I do seek a higher power. This book helped restore my faith and ponder spirituality.
There is an intriguing relationship between the author and his subject. Although Robert Chung is his father, Paul Chung writes his story in such a way as to allow readers to know Robert as a human being, a mover and shaker, and a history maker.
As a Korean-American, this book meant a great deal to me. Well done, Dr. Chung.

Compelling story of a remarkable life

Dr. Chung has written a fascinating story of a remarkable man, his father, Robert Chung, and his call to serve God by preaching the Gospel to his people in Korea. He made a difficult journey to the United States, where he worked hard to get his education, graduating from Asbury College in Wilmore, KY. Although there were many challenges and dangers along his chosen path, his faith never wavered. World history plays a prominent role in Robert's struggles to preach in Korea, through the Japanese domination of the Korean Peninsula and on through the Korean War. Robert preached not only in Korea, where he held huge tent revivals (10,000 and more people), but also in the United States, where he eventually lived out his remaining days with his wife.

This book provides an excellent framework, set of tools, and methodology to make system design decisions based on analysis non-functional requirements and "softgoals," often lacking in other software engineering methodologies and tools. In chapter 14 of the book, the authors provide extensions to the tools to model to analyze strategic rationale and business goals of a system, and apply them to a hypothetical business process re-engineering example. I believe that the authors here have presented a base set of tools and methodologies that have applications far beyond the field of software engineering as demonstrated in this chapter, and I look forward very much to see where this work will lead.

All you need to know about non-functional requirements.

From qualitative analysis to quantitative anlysis it is all there. Non-functional requirements (NFRs) are like the step-child to functional requirmeents but this book finally gives NFRs their due. It is a must read for any person in the software/systems engineering community. Especially impressive is the graphic representations which compliment the text.

I have begun a new cardiology position. One of my roles is to perform cardiac stress testing. I bought Dr. Chung's book and read it from cover to cover. It was what I needed to fill in the "holes" and give structure to what I was learning from on the job training. The book is concise and provides the information needed to perform stress testing competently (assuming you already have a good knowledge of EKG interpretation) I would encourage anyone new to stress testing to start with Dr. Chung's book.

You never go wrong with Dr. Chung's books! BUY IT!

What the World Needs Now

The Dharma taught by the modern master Soetaesan, called Won Buddhism around here, is eminently practical, accessible, elegant, and effective. I agree with Michael McCormick, the reviewer below, in every respect. I hope this translation makes the Won Dharma accessible to the disturbed, dissatisfied, and heartbroken in the English-speaking world (and that accounts for everyone at least sometimes). Americans are particularly lucky, as there are Won Temples open and ready to offer instruction and support in the U.S.

Part of the genius of Won Buddhism is its exceptionally clear presentation of the Dharma, without dumbing it down. Anybody can "get" it, all of it.

Won Buddhism advocates a society of well-educated people, led by the wise, and embracing full equality between men and women. Given the current chill ignorance and belligerance that mainstream American culture has become, I think the Won ideal is a noble aspiration for us to keep in mind. Here's to an enlightened future.

Down-to-earth Dharma for Everyone

Years ago when I was in college in Philadelphia I encountered Won Buddhism and an earlier translation of the teachings of their founder, Master Sotaesan. With the guidance of Rev. Bokin Kim, I was able to see how Won Buddhism presented a very well-rounded, streamlined, and practical approach to enlightenment. She also showed me the deep connections which Master Sotaesan't teachings had to Korean Buddhism which were not immediately apparent in the previous English translation of the Won Buddhist scriptures used at her temple at that time. Dr. Bongkil Chung's translation and introduction makes those connections much more apparent. And while his introduction can't replace the warm and generous spirit of Rev. Bokin Kim (who is now the academic dean of the Won Buddhist Institute in Abington, Pa) reading it certainly reminds me of all the things I learned from her and even fills in some crucial historical and doctrinal details that I had not known about before. Dr. Chung also forthrightly reveals some of the difficulties that Won Buddhism has had in defining itself as a Korean New Religion. Is it a self-sufficient teaching of Master Sotaesan, or was Sotaesan just trying to create a reformed and progressive version of Buddha Dharma? The differences between the 1943 and 1962 editions of the Korean text show that Won Buddhism has been leaning in the direction of independence from the broader Buddhist tradition, but Dr. Chung's translation of the 1943 edition shows that the original intention of Master Sotaesan may have been a renovation of Buddhism rather than a departure from it. As far as the content of the text itself, I personally feel that it is very much in keeping with the best traditions of East Asian Buddhism as well as Taoism and Neo-Confucianism. I actually visited the places where Master Sotaesan grew up, and they are still very rural. His far reaching and progressive vision of what Buddhism would have to become to speak to the modern world amazes me when I consider how restricted his early life and education was. Sotaesan's teaching in this book are in two parts. The first is the Canon which gives a straight forward lay out of his system. I find it very practical, and I even think that many parts of it will speak to Buddhists and perhaps people of other religions who will find the guidance and perspectives presented very helpful even if they are not or do not want to become Won Buddhists. The second part is the Scripture of Sotaesan. This may be more interesting as it is a collection of talks, anecdotes, and Dharma verses collected from throughout Master Sotaesan's time as a teacher. I think this section compares favorable with the Platform Sutra of the Sixth Patriarch, and in many ways is more interesting and relevant because Master Sotaesan is addressing the problems of early 20th century Korea, including the problems of pseudo-religions, colonialism, technological advancements, and the encounter between Christianity and Buddhism. I think that Master Sotaesan't broad and magnanimous spirit, as well as his integrity and forward thinking can be an inspiration to all people, whether they are Won Buddhists, some other kind of Buddhist, or not even Buddhists at all. Master Sotaesan speaks to the sufferings and the aspirations of ordinary people who want to find out how to awaken in the midst of their daily lives.

great reference, a must have for pharamceutical statisticians
Helpful Votes: 24 out of 24 total.

This is a very new and unique book that covers the gamut of statistical issues through all phases of drug development. Shao is a distinguished professor from Wisconsin and Chow teaches at Duke University and formerly at Temple but is known for his long career in the pharmaceutical industry.
The book is good for biostatisticians and regulatory affairs specialists as a reference source. All the key statistical issues are addressed and the reader is given the perspective of the ICH and FDA guidance documents. The underlying statistical methodology that justifies the recommendations in the guidances is presented. This is a state-of-the-art book. Shao and Pigeot produced some of the recent research in individual bioequivalence that established a bootstrap procedure as an appropriate way to construct confidence intervals for the problem. Their method is recommended in an FDA guidance document.

But more than just this one example, all the key issues that have been the subject of FDA workshops over the past several years are addressed in this book. These topics include calibration, assay and assay validation, dissolution testing, stability analysis, shelf life estimation, bioequivalence, randomization and blinding, what constitutes substantive evidence in clinical development, therapeutic equivalence and noninferiority, Bayesian approaches in clinical trials, problems involving missing and incomplete data, longitudinal methods, meta-analysis, quality of life studies and instrument validation, and medical imaging.

Other prevalent issues in clinical trials include group sequential methods, hierarchical Bayesian models and multiple testing. These issues are not covered as much in this text as the others we have mentioned. But there is some discussion of multiplicity in the context of quality of life studies. An example of sequential testing is used to illustrate model selection in Chapter 2. The important issues of design and sample size requirements are presented throughout the book.

While not all topics are covered in sufficient depth, the book is remarkable in the breadth of material covered in just 350 pages of text. The authors also provide a very authoritative list of references and regulatory guidances and other documents.

As a soon-to-be career changer with a background in engineering, this book was a great feeler for the energy industry and the issues applicable to it. Since it's coming from the Vault, most of the jobs described in here are MBA type positions but an MBA isn't really necessary for most of the jobs in the energy sector. Ms. Chung gives a great overview of the different areas in the sector in the beginning of the book and then moves on to the descriptions of each functional position with salary ranges and a "day in the life of." Also valuable is the wealth of online resources provided at the end of the book. Buy this one if you're curious about what role you can serve in the energy sector!

I've been targeting a job in the energy sector ever since I started my MBA program two years ago, and for most of that time there were NO books out there to help me. This is exactly the book I was hoping would get written - a short textbook on the industry (complete with useful equations), a taxonomy of jobs out there, and tips on landing and surviving the first job. There is no other book of its kind out there like this. The author is an extremely clear writer with a knack for making complex topics seem easy to understand. In the fall, I will start my hard-won job with one of the major energy merchants, and I definitely owe my success to this book. Thank you!

Every night she makes this her last book we read. This book is a wonderful creation. It is constructed different compared to other books. The pages are only have the size of the book. But when you flip from one page to the next it slowly sets the Sun while the moon and stars begin to come out.

The books is about a bunny who wants to play but his parents tell him when God starts tucks in the day all bunnies have to be in bed. Along the way home they admire the beautiful world around them finally closing with a short prayer.

A must have for any 2 year old.
