The Rhythm of Life is a book that I keep going back to. It brings back that life is made up of choices. The choices we make reflect on how balanced our life can/should be. Happiness is not brought about by the amount of "stuff" we have, but by the substance we share physically, mentally, and spiritually within ourselves and others. I've been told that a happy home consists of a good coffee maker and dog. After reading The Rhythm of Life I need to add to a good coffee maker and dog to include a good book, church, and God in your soul. Well worth reading.

This book is so thought provoking that I plan to buy 5 more copies and share with important people in my life. I enjoyed the insightfulness of Matthew Kelly--this was the first book I have read of his and have moved on to Perfectly Yourself: 9 Lessons for Enduring Happiness.

If you are looking to examine your life and ask yourself some questions about how to move forward and become a person of greater character this book is for you.

The Rhythm of Life books are awesome, in great shape and arrived promptly. Thank you!

I have incorporated the teachings in this book to my life and highly recommend it for all ages.

I am a fan, this purchase was actually a gift for a friend, the perspective while not entirely unique, almost feels like it is, because it touches on the core issues that many of us identify as the true obstacles to personal , spiritual and emotional health. 5 stars becuase of the integrity and depth of the message... you can "tell' when the message is the result of a personal desire to identify ,and more importantly "share" via effective communication practical tools to change and grow

Page-Turning Southern Novels!

The novel is full of realistic Southern characters. If you love Southern novels, don't miss out on this one! Shadow of Dreams by Eva Marie Everson and G. W. Francis Chadwick is a well-written, well-developed novel full of foreshadowing. The main character serves as an excellent example of what happens to many young teens glamorized by the big city and running from problems at home. Instead of the prodigal son, the main character, Katie, is the prodigal daughter. I couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen to Katie and her husband, and the bad guys. I loved the way the authors used literature for clues. I also loved the way the small-town Georgia guys protected their own and took care of the big-city guys. These authors do not preach, but they certainly know how to spin a tale that could serve to help others. These authors offer much insight, and a reflective reader will benefit from the experience of having read this novel. A good, reflective reader will find that this book is about many things that connect to life in such a way, it can't help but be realistic. The characters are realistic, not mere shells of characters. The way they talk and the things they say, the dialogue, provide that realistic touch to make them come to life. Katie's mom is really a Southern character. It is ironic that she seems to treat Katie as her own mother treated her, but she does not realize this.

Shadows of Light is a page-turner with a Christian message delicately interwoven, so that the novel does not come off as preachy. Yet, it clearly delivers a much-needed message of God's love and forgiveness and how none of us are perfect. We all need loving kindness, compassion, forgiveness, and redemption, and the set of three novels in this collection clearly provide this message. Shadows of Light is the concluding book in the three-part series, one you will not want to put down until you see how it ends.

This final novel in the series of three illustrates how prayer and faith work in real life. Katie, the main character holds on to her faith, like the treasure it is, until her husband returns. She never gives up on him. Even when he returns and things are not picture perfect, she understands, has compassion, forgives, and continues to have faith in God. Maggie, the housekeeper, also models faith and how prayer works. She is not afraid of death and meeting her maker. In fact, she illustrates how she looks forward to doing so, and she tries to encourage Ben's faith. Just as in real life, all family members do not always share the same faith or amount of faith, but the novel displays a fine example of how one can model faith and belief in the power of prayer without preaching. One of my favorite parts of this novel is how Maggie is found with her finger marking a Bible verse and how Katie remembers the small things about Maggie, like where she kept Katie's slippers. For, when we lose our loved ones, it is always the small, simple things we miss the most about them.

Another favorite part is the epilogue and how the novel ends. I won't spoil the ending for you though. Read the book and find out for yourself! The ending ties in with an ongoing theme from the other two books as well as the third novel and wraps things up nicely like a well-wrapped Christmas gift. These novels would make great stocking stuffers for the readers in your life.

The novel also illustrates a love story and romance between Ben and Katie, the two main characters. It is very realistic to life and provides insight for the reader. If you like Southern novels, romance, or love stories, do not miss this delightful book. In fact, you won't want to miss a single one of the three.

I'm hesitant to give low review to any author but felt compelled to do so because I was so disillusioned by the other reviews.

I kept waiting for something to happen in this novel and when it did, I was disappointed. It seemed that the entire book was written for the "surprise" ending which was overly dramatic and too unrealistic to be believable.

Then again, I had just read Francine Rivers' "Redeeming Love" and not much compares to that, now does it?

Eva Marie's series is fabulous. I couldn't wait to find the time to read the next page. I fell in love with Katie and hope there are plans to read more of her. Eva Marie's 3 books in this series is filled with exciting plot twists, suspense, and drew me closer to the Lord, plus making me even more appreciative of my wonderful husband. These books are delightful!

Once I started reading, I could not put it down. The characters and storylines are so realistic. I feel I know Katie personally (we are both from Georgia, after all). The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat with anticipation and the love between Ben and Katie warmed by heart. This is definitely a must read and will keep you coming back for more!

The prodigal daughter returns to her southern home after twenty-five years of absence. Katie runs from her problems, and she discovers she needs to make things right with God before she can solve her problems. This book was intriguing and suspenseful, and there were times when I was sitting on the edge of my seat! The characters were well-developed, and I'm anxious to start the sequal!

A box that will make you cry, make you want to be a better person BUT if you have ever read a book written by Richard Paul Evans, you already know that..

this book is really eye opening as to faith and where it can lead you if you let it.

I am a big fan of the Christmas Box books, but when I saw this book I thought UHHHHHH I guess he needs even more money. RPE must have realized that he was a flash in the pan, and was desprate to hang on to his falling fame. This book does have its moments though, but it sounds like a broken record. They were giving this book away.. a free copy with every $10 purchase. I wish RPE would get over himself he's no Charles Dickens!!!

Unfortunately I read this after reading "The Light of Christmas" so I knew most of the story line but it was still worth the read. It is a simple story with a powerful message about the importance of our individual lives and the lives of those who love us. The Christian message of hope in life is prevalent but subtle and doesn't come across as 'preaching' while still delivering its impact.

I was just posting a link to this book onto my blog when I noticed the editorial review from Publishers Weekly totally panned it. What a joke! This book came highly recommended to me and I loved it. I almost didn't get to finish because my wife heard me laughing so often, she started reading it and every time I set it down, she'd grab it.

If your spiritual life isn't everything you think it should be, pick up this book and be ready to learn and to laugh. It's definitely no panacea (nothing is) but it certainly points the way to, what may be for you, a new way of looking at the living of your life. I HIGHLY recommend this book to you!

I have read a few books by famous christian authors. At the end I was disappointed because they went on and on and never seemed to get to the point. The only disappointment I had with this book was that it was over. I hope the author is working on another!

Upon finishing this novel, I sigh in complete contentment. This is near one of the best novels I have ever had the opportunity to fall deep within the pages and stay for a while.



From beginning to end I had my opinions of how things should go, with the slight twists and turns I never had a clue how the plot would be. Sometimes I could not read fast enough, as a matter of fact most of the time. I would not believe certain things were happening.



This is a perfect novel in regency time and I can see a bit of Austen and Jane Erye. I can easily say that readers of such will enjoy this story. It is alike, but completely unique and what a tale it tells.



Julie Klassen is beyond talented with this work and I am shocked to admit it a debut. You can bet that I will read her new novel coming out soon, The Apothecary's Daughter. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. If I were able to surpass five stars, I have not a clue as to how many I would vote.



Throughout this book my heart was breaking. My soul was soaring with joy. It was one of those scenarios where you want to lay the blame, but within yourself you can see that the sinner is not much worse than yourself. Then you attempt to imagine what is going on and put yourself in their place. What would you do? How would you act? What would you want?



On a personal note, if too personal skip it, as a person who suffers depression, I can sometimes see how easy it would be to walk away from situations so hard with any foreseeable future or answer. But oh how incredible God can be when he works things out through time. His plan for us is so much more incredible than we could have ever thought. It really makes a person think.

I only puchased this as a gift, and can only comment on the value, service, and condition of the book. All of these were excellent which is why I will continue to use amazon as my primary purchase medium on the internet.

I found this book rewardingly accurate for the time it was written in. I disagree with the review about the topic of Wet nurses not being appropriate. That was fact! There wasn't formulas to feed babies and not all mothers wanted to nurse or medically couldn't produce milk for their babies. Romance novels can describe every act under the sun and then some but reviewers are going to critic a women being a wet nurse?? It's history, it's fact!
This is a great book, well written, and Charlotte is a wonderful character to read about. Well done Julie Klassen, I look forward to many more of your books!

This was the most enjoyable novel I've read for quite a while! I loved the historical setting, but the characters seemed very real.

This book was incredible! The story takes so many turns. It bounces back and forth from her wants to what she knows is right, until the two finally come together in the end. Miss Lamb is a stand up, intricate woman, perceived as shameful and simple by society. But those who truly know her get to see otherwise...as do we. i definitely recommend this one! You'll be finished in two days, or less!

Just think: with these four volumes, you'll be able to pray ANY of the prescribed hours, at any time and day of the year. Knowing that you're in company with millions of others doing the same thing is awe-inspiring and spiritually enriching. These are very easy to use so there's no excuse not to enter into the prayer life of the Church. Mass for me is made even better when I arrive early and read the Office. I personally find Night Prayer comforting and extremely nourishing-- it helps me get ready for the coming day, and soothes my conscience during the examination. If the set comes with the handy annual Index, helping you to find each day's prayers... all the better! Otherwise you can get that Index at a religious goods store-- it costs about three dollars.

This product is preciecly what I needed. In addition to the four volumes of the Liturgy of the Hours (Advent/Christmas, Lent/Easter, Ordinary Time I & II) it included the St. Joseph Guide, the Supplement and inserts. This was just what I was looking for as I was heading off to seminary school.

The set was very well priced and the shipping being included definitely helped the sale. Being a new item, it is in excellent shape. I have told others about this and recommended they look to Amazon first if they are interested in purchasing this set.

Excellent edition. Easier to use than the one-volume Liturgy that the Daughters of St Paul put out. Comes with helpful accessories. If you can't afford to buy all four volumes at once, buying them one at a time is a great alternative.

These volumes are excellent quality. The paper is thin and buff color, the printing is two color, and the font is readable. They were much better quality than I was expecting. Thank you.

Same person posted as before -pokes review before this one- I also love Sweet Dreams. Those two are my favorite young Christy books. The college ones are amazingly awesome too. It really makes you want to hold out for a hero like Todd, huh? I cried because I didn't know that these weren't the last Christys, because they're still the college years, but I cried 1. At the ending 2. Because I thought at the time that this was the last Christy, so it made me so sad, like a lost a friend.

If anyone asked me who my best friend was, I'd almost answer 'Christy Miller'. It's so hard and sad to believe that Christy isn't real, especially when you grow up with her, as I have. Especially after this book. Of all the twelve I've read of Christy, this one was definitely my favorite. Have fifty boxes of tissue on hand at the end. I love these books! Christy's relashonship with the Lord really grows, and it hits an all-time high in this one. I really admire Christy. I can't wait to read the college years. I'm reading Sierra Jensen right now, and they are awesome too. Write more about both of them, Robin Jones Gunn!

Have the tissues on hand, because this ending will have you crying your eyes out. This book makes me wish guys like Todd actually exist.

Man! i love reading the Christy Miller series!!!! i've read them all at least twice and i'm going to go through them again the next chance i get! My sister and i luv Robin Jones Gunn and went completely crazy when we heard of "the College Years"...i just cant wait till we get them here in Zimbabwe!!!!!!!

This is the best christy miller book! i have read all of the christy miller books except #3. i have not read the college years but am dying to. Mrs.Gunn please keep writing Christy books. they have really encouraged me and made me think alot about my life and my future. i can't wait to read the college years! i am reading the sierra jensen series right now. i am trying to read the slowly so i won't be without the books. i read all of the christy miller books in 6 days, they were so good. Please Mrs.Gunn write more christy miller book!

If there was a way I could rate this book higher than 5, I definately would.

If you are a fan of incrediblely well written action, Christian themes, powerful topics, well-researched fighting techniques, and an all around good story... this is for you. Even if you dont' like action, you should get this.

One of the many reasons this book is so incredibly awesome is because on one character. Gage. He is the best of the best. The author researched every type of fighting to make this character. All the way from more-than-advanced knife techniques, to war tactics.

To state it simply: Get this book.

James Byron Huggins' thrillers are catered for the manly man. They are routinely explosive, tautly-paced, and laced with a supernatural element. The Reckoning lives up to his standards and, even though initially confusing, is a bonafide page-turner. His protagonist, Gage, is patentedly a superlative killing machine yet is spiritually conflicted. Even though The Reckoning is touted as a "Christian" thriller, it doesn't really get that preachy, which I appreciated.

Jonathan Gage is a man at odds with himself and with his murky past as a proficient, highly trained Delta Force operative. He's trying to change his ways, but it's proving to be a daunting task, as he is tasked by his friend Simon, a dying priest, to safeguard an ancient manuscript which foretells the advent and identity of the Anti-Christ. Shadowy forces stand in Gage's way, forces focused on bringing about the downfall of mankind. Gage, weary of violence but having no other recourse, must now muster all his old training and once again resume the ways of the killer. Because, ultimately, it falls on him and a few allies to keep darkness at bay and safeguard the future of humanity.

If that plot summary sounded overly dramatic, well, that's the vibe I got off reading The Reckoning. This book is one of James Byron Huggins's earlier works (published in 1994), and it shows. I found it initially hard to get into, which actually surprised me because I generally find his novels (Sorcerer, Cain, Hunter, Nightbringer) to be vastly entertaining stuff. But, in the Reckoning, I was thrown for a loop with the disconcertingly abrupt start, which throws the reader smack dab in the thick of the action. It left me with a lost feeling - as if I'd missed out on some key events which had gone on before page one. However, once I pressed on, the story rapidly became more involving and, in the end, proved to be an intense, adrenalin rush of a thriller. It is action-packed (believe me, brother!) to the max. The pace is hectic, as the protagonists seem to be assaulted or on the assault every few pages or so. The Reckoning is also colored with a supernatural Doomsday element. Anytime the Anti-Christ figures into the plot, you gotta think the stakes are raised just a tad more.

Gage is so daunting and self-sufficient a character that it's sometimes hard to empathize with him. Whenever he's in action, he simply becomes a killing automaton. It's a good thing Huggins infuses his hero with a conflicted persona, said conflict arising from his newly awakened moral compass, which goes at odds with his military-instilled, tightly honed instincts for mayhem. Also a good idea of Huggins is the introduction of a nemesis, Sato, who seems to be even more of a bad mo-fo than Gage. Their first encounter doesn't go well for our hero. But it does serve to humanize him more.

After Gage, the book has another intriguing character: the grizzled Nathaniel Kertzman, a civilian investigator assigned by Washington with unearthing a covert military faction steeped in illegal activities, of which investigation Gage is the prime suspect. Kertzman is uncompromising and honest to a fault, yet is comfortable with the greasy machinations and the double- and cross-dealings of Washington's upper-level power brokers. A fun character.

Then you have the baddies. There is a chain of command to these villains, with each elevated position of power seemingly providing a more callous and corrupt villain. The main Machiavellian mastermind is snaky cold and without scruples, while the deadly warrior Sato lives for the perfect kill.

At 473 pages, The Reckoning is a thick read. However, once you get into it, those pages'll fly by. I personally couldn't wait for Gage and Sato's final "dance." Huggins's research really shows thru as he ably engrosses the reader with a revealing depiction of the life and ways of an elite commando. Three and a half testosterone-filled stars.

Huggins does a masterful job of combining Christian truth with modern warfare. The hero realizes that in order to defeat evil, sometimes you must take up a "sword" and fight. I would highly recommend it.

This is the story of a man who sought redemption and tried to leave his old life behind. This book is action-packed, gripping and spellbinding. It will pierce you to your very soul.

Karen Kingsbury writes such realistic characters that as I read her novels, I find myself tearing up with the problems they experience. This Sunrise series is an especially good one as it deals with the Baxter family over a period of time. I can't wait to read the final installment that concludes the Baxter saga.

I add a caveat, however; the author write in sentence fragments, and this Drives Me Nuts!

I have never read a book series and this one pulled me right in. Karen Kingsbury is a great writer and I can't wait to read her other books.

Newlyweds and movie stars, Dayne and Katie Matthews are on separate continents filming for their respective films. Even though they love and trust each other, doubts and fears begin to creep in. Then a tabloid prints a picture featuring someone who looks very much like Dayne frolicking with a female costar. Only Dayne knows the truth about the picture but he is sworn to secrecy. Will he ruin his new found reputation as a Christian and his marriage to protect the real perpetrator?

A few months ago, I felt like I was the only reader on earth who hadn't read a Karen Kingsbury novel. Then I picked up my first Baxter Family story and got immediately hooked. What I have enjoyed most about this series is the realistic portrayal of the life of a Hollywood actor. I'm ashamed to admit that I'm one of those who enjoy flipping through the gossip rags that are on display at the checkout counter. I like seeing what the stars are doing. So it was rather interesting to read what it's like from the celebrity's point of view of how damaging the paparazzi really can be. You never really think about how much the media can twist something into a lie. I really wanted to smack Luke while reading this book. As realistic as Dayne has been in the majority of the series, he struck me as kinda fake in this one. If I had been in his shoes, and my brother did something to make everyone in the world think I was a cheater and wreck my marriage, I would not be a happy camper. I'm not saying he should have punched Luke but it seem too easy to forgive him just like that. And Luke didn't really show that much remorse which made it more unbelievable that Dayne was forgiving like that. The stories involving the other members of the family were equally as riveting. I really like reading about John's growing relationship with Elaine. It's very romantic and touching to see two people with huge losses be able to come together and fall in love. I also enjoyed reading about CKT. I really wish we had one of those productions when I was growing up. I would have loved to be a part. I'm going to be sad to leave the Baxter family behind in the next book but as they say, "All good things must come to an end."

An inspiring book about faith and marriage. I'm happy to have discovered this writer and I'm looking forward to her new one in September.

OK...this wasn't my favorite of the series. I loved "Summer." I love Ashley. She is by far my favorite Baxter.

In this one I hated the deception and miscommunication that comes between Dayne and Katy. The author has given us, what, 7+ books so far to establish that they are madly, passionately in love, and they've been married what, six months--and already Katy believes Dayne is cheating on her? It just doesn't ring true to the characters or their relationship. (Again, though--Ashley saves the day. She always does.)

Is anyone else creeped out by the Flanigans? Think about it--the makeup of the "Flanigan" family--a daughter followed by five boys, three of whom are adopted from Haiti, mom's a writer--is identical to that of the author's own family...and the Flanigans are held up as the ideal, perfect, model family? At least the Baxters have their human side. The worst thing I've seen in all the books was when Jenny was briefly slightly annoyed with Katy because Bailey didn't get a big part in a CKT show. If that's the biggest flaw she has, yikes, there's no hope for the rest of us. Even the names of the kids are similar--"Bailey" and Kelsey, "Connor" and Tyler, "Justin" and Austin, etc. I definitely come away with the feeling that the author is holding up her own family, barely fictionalized, as the epitome of perfection, and it comes across as prideful...I'm reminded of Romans 12:3: "examine yourselves with sober judgment and do not think of yourselves more highly than you ought."

I'm sick of Dayne and Katy and the whole "fame" angle and I hope the last book focuses on Bloomington. That's where the Baxter fans want to be! Oh, I do like Dayne, though. He seems like a good person, especially because he hasn't yet drowned his awful brother Luke in Lake Monroe!

What a tangled web we weave when we endeavor through deceit!
Victory Christopher Murray, best selling author of A Sin and A Shame, gets my nod for Too Little Too Late. Her main character, Jasmine Larson, is back with the man of her dreams in tow. The novel is fast paced and very entertaining.
Jasmine and her husband, Reverend Hosea Bush, made it through the fact that Jasmine became pregnant with another man's child. However, Jasmine's got a few more bones in her throat, that are ready to pop out: Natasia Redding, a blast from Hosea's past who still has the "hots" for him; Brian Lewis, the good doctor who is also her "baby's daddy", has
discovered through "therapy" that he is a sex addict and in order to save his marriage he must tell all to his wife and convince her that Jasmine and the baby were part of his "illness", which won't be easy considering the sordid history between Jasmine and his wife Alexis.
Will Hosea be able to fight the feelings that he still has for Natasia? Will Jasmine get one more chance to bare her soul and be redeemed once and for all? Will Brian be able to save his marriage and be cured of his addiction? It may all be too little, too late. I recommend that you read and find out!

Excellent storytelling and familiar characters from the past. This was a great novel but I'm wondering will Jasmine ever stop with the lies and will Alexis and Brian find happiness with or without each other. There was one part of the story where I was rooting for Hosea and Natasia, thank goodness I came to my senses! Mae Frances I missed ya. Ms. Murray you have a gift continue to embrace it.

What a wonderful book this was to read! I first heard about this book from the "Girls with Grace" book club at my church. It was our second book to read and I enjoyed it so much. I couldn't put it down. I finished reading the almost 400 page book in 2 days. I would recommend this book to anyone. The end was very touching. Even if you hadn't read the previous books in the series, you won't be lost. 2 thumbs up on this one.

Jasmine Larson Bush is back and she still has secrets. Although the paternity of her daughter Jacqueline is know by her husband to be an ex lover Brian Lewis this couple encounters road blocks of an old flame. No, not Jasmine's old flame. How about the ex-girlfriend of Hosea for a change?

Jasmine has to deal with Natasia, playing the game she knows all too well when yet another obstacle is thrown into her path. Brian Lewis and his wife Alexis are having trouble with their marriage when Alexis is convinced her husband is having an affair. Will their secrets come out finally and when they do will it be too late for either of them to make their relationships work?

Awesome continuation of A Sin and A Shame! I recommend this book.

I really enjoyed this book. What happens in the dark always come out in the light and this book proved that. Natasia was a trip and Jasmine finally met her match. I love this author-Keep up the good work!!!
