The pages slide apart in search of the mouse, rather than using the traditional flaps. This takes a little more coordination from your child than your average flap book, but the pictures are awfully cute, and the pages are very sturdy. My daughter loves looking for the mouse, even though she knows exactly where she's going to find him every time!

Since the first time I read this book to my son when he was 5 months old, it has been his favorite book. He is now almost 11 months old and even though he loves many books now, he gets the most excited when we read this one. It holds up very well, and was passed down to my son from his 6 year old cousin. A MUST!

My youngest daughter loves this book--we were on our second copy by age one. The sturdy nature of the board book with pull-out suprises keeps her attention. Any time we ask "Where's the Mouse?" she runs over to the shelf and gets the book. Worth it's weight in gold.

When She Mentioned the Erotic Uses of Ice I Knew I'd Love It

Review Date: 2008-05-19
Sometimes a person knows they will like a book right away. Just as a cover catches the eye, the choice of subject matter can also reach out and capture the unwary passerby's attention. That's exactly what happened to this reviewer when one of the books cute illustrated drawings was of a woman's fingers dragging an ice cube along the back of a man's neck. For anyone who has experienced the absolute shock of a kaleidoscope of pleasurable sensations gained from adding lowly ice cubes or crashed ice to foreplay, the need to explore the rest of this book will be irresistible.
The author is absolutely right on when she writes, "creative erotic is the salt and pepper of the sex world." She also points out another interesting observation about spicing up one's sex life, "...it's one sexual technique that actually gets better with age. Most of the time it doesn't even become part of one's lifestyle until midlife." It's one of those cases when youth doesn't triumph over experience and patience.
Ex-Pro/Dom-turned psychologist Ilona Paris defines the purpose of her book early and then sticks to her plan. "In truth, S&M is one of the most playful, fun, mischievous, and good-humored practices you can engage in. Those loaded initials pack a wallop of teasing, lighthearted sexuality that can do much for so many, from setting a young woman apart from her competitors in the sexual arena of the modern meat market, to spicing up a love life for long-married couples who're bored with the same old same old."
This book is not going to shock the timid because it's mostly fun games and soft pleasures. It's a great introduction to adding kink to the reader's love life. Anticipation is half the fun and this author knows how to use anticipation to bring her partner to the brink of heaven or subspace again and again before actually allowing them to leap over the edge to achieve Nirvana. The examples she gives of how almost all children have innocently practiced these same techniques with their peers or played the same games in their youth is particularly true to everyone's experience. And while role playing usually disappears from most children's favorite activities, it's benefits often wait to be rediscovered by many of the still young-at-heart decades later. It's a rediscovery of the natural curiosity and fun normal to every human's development.
This is the kind of book women should read and practice if they think, imagine, suspect that their mate is maybe getting bored or his eye is straying toward the definitely bored, desperate housewife next door or his new secretary/administrative assistant/co-worker at work. Trying out some of these love games on your mate will bring his full attention right back to you and your bedroom or adult playroom. The author drops numerous hints about eventually doing a sequel to this tome and so we can all look forward to more advanced mischief in our futures. There is a wonderful feeling of fun and light-heartedness, subtle and not-so subtle humor and very, very naughty, but oh so deliciously suggestive suggestions saturating this guidebook to adult pleasure.

I loved it.

This book is a must for anyone looking for a little spice in there bedroom.

Sexual Mischief is an exciting and misunderstood area of sexuality. Ms. Paris' writing style presents material in a safe, candid, humorous way that encourages the reader to keep an open mind and learn about their own, sometimes hidden, desires.

This is a gem, do not miss it!!!

I have a lot of friends who are enthusiastic about new wines and this is the best gift for men or women. It is written with a breezy insider's voice that is informed but fun and "quotable". Also like the hints for easy recipes that would complement the wine.

I love many of the wines that I've tried, but there's so much more out there. Just try going to any good wine store; how's a person supposed to know?

For me, this book was a lot of fun to read. It painlessly educated me and I am on to new wine frontiers that I would not have explored before.

A gift to the Future

When I first saw "The Ark to the Future", I was impressed by the clever packaging and design of the product. I also enjoyed the well written booklet and the bold colorful illustrations and photos. But what really intrigued me most was the focus on family- the family of past, present and future. It is truly a way to preserve the family history and the flavor of family today fo future generations.

"The Ark to the Future" contains a real metal time capsule, instruction booklet, postcards, stickers, memory album and a family tree poster. The poster inspires us to trace our family heritage and is a must for anyone interested in geneology. The booklet guides us through preparing memorabilia for the capsule, as well as creating a family memory album. It is something every member of the family can help create- and there is no right or wrong way. When finished it is stored in a safe place for as many years as you determine. What a wonderful way to preserve a part of family today for future generations, and give them something they can truly cherish. A true gift to the future!

An impressive step into the future!

I received my Ark in the mail a few days ago and was thrilled. The Ark was impressive from the moment I opened the box. Detailed like an actual time capsule, I find the design to be fun and very unique. The directions are easy to follow, precise and thorough. Congratulations to the authors...they captured the essence of family life and the importance of geneology in a fabulous new product. My twelve year old daughter can't wait to get started on the family tree. The stickers, inside materials and packaging are colorful, fun and exciting. I've never seen any memory book so creatively inspired. I'm going to purchase several more for holiday gifts. A must for the new millenium. I truly believe it's a project all families will enjoy doing together.

Art, Ideology and the Ancient Chinese State
Helpful Votes: 12 out of 12 total.
Review Date: 2000-06-09
Art Myth and Ritual sets out an elegant yet convincing theory regarding the nature of the early Chinese state and the technological, ideological and social foundations on which it rested. By combining archaeology, classical studies and anthropology, Prof. Chang (who is regarded as the international dean of Chinese archaeology by scholars on both sides of the Taiwan strait as well as in Europe and North America) provides his readers with a dynamic view of ancient Chinese statecraft and the religious ideas that made it possible.

This book remains the single most concise statement of Chang's theoretical contribution to the archaeology of the Chinese Bronze Age. It is also simply written, well-illustrated and an excellent beginning point for the serious student of Chinese archaeology.

With Chang's magnum opus: "The Archaeology of Ancient China" sadly out of print (at time of writing), readers must make do with this volume to get a sense of his scope of vision, analytical depth and anthropological insight.

As one of K.C.s final generation of students, I must admit to a certain bias. However, it is my professional and personal opinion that this book is still one of the best works on Chinese archaeology in any language.

One of a kind

This is the most succinct statement of the late K.C. Chang's views of early Chinese civilization. Many of his opinions are controversial--for example, his view of shamanism in ancient China and his interpretation of the characteristic decorations on bronze vessels--but they are creative, original, and have influenced an entire generation of historians. Once you read his brief and incisive discussion of the resources necessary to produce a bronze vessel, from mining the ore to casting the piece, your appreciation of these artifacts will never be the same again. This kind of book is rare and admirable: concise, well written, and brimming with provocative ideas.

if you love french cooking and impressionism, this is your book. it's one of my favorite cook books in my collection. a word of caution, the ingredigents used in some of the recipes may not be found in all areas of north america. i brought my copying several years ago while i lived in toronto, so i didn't have too much difficulty finding ingredients. in sum,the cook provides a wonderful artistic cullinary journey. the book still can be found bookstores. i found few a few copies at borders six or seven months ago on the discount table. the book is well worth searching for!!!
