This book is terrific. I post a different quotation from it every day right beside the time clock where my employees will see it as they punch their time cards.

I have also used quotations in speeches that I have written for sales presentations.

A quotation for every occasion...

Over a thousand ways to say the things you wanted to say but didn't know quite how to say them. I've always struggled with finding the right words for the right occasion. This book makes it easy. Guaranteed to make you think. A must for all quotation lovers.

I thought that "The Guide to Financial Public Relations" was well written and logical, with many helpful step-by-step instructions. Though it is written specifically for the financial industry, it contains helpful information and valuable strategies for almost any business person who works with a client base and who wants to be more successful in their industry.

I have worked in the public relations field for 25 years, yet I found this book instructive with many new idea "gems" that I plan to implement in the future. For while it may be difficult to teach old dogs new tricks, today a business person must constantly learn new "tricks" (i.e. business strategies) in order to survive. This book delivers!

Having lived and worked in Mexico City for many years, I'm quite familiar with the sort of problems often encountered by foreign businessmen arriving here for the first time. I believe The American Chamber's Guide to Mexico Business (8th edition) is probably the most useful tool they can get their hands on. The guide has piles of sensibly organized information which covers every topic imaginable: from the cultural aspects of local business and living in Mexico to far more technical areas such as legal aspects, contact finding, and setting up shop. What sets this guide apart from others, in my view, is the insider information - each chapter is written by top-notch local experts in the field and not by a foreign writer trying to interpret unfamiliar information. Nobody has as much Mexico business experience as the people at the American Chamber and I have no hesitation in recommending this book to anyone seeking a comprehensive guide to every aspect of working, doing business and living in Mexico - I only wish I'd got hold of a copy sooner!

The best, and probably only of its kind

I have been doing business in Mexico for over 15 years, and I have come to rely on this book for its information. For anyone who does business in Mexico, you know that information--hard facts--is the scarcest commodity of all. I have sat on the phone for hours trying to get clues and make contacts.

This book spells it all out, does all the legwork for you. It also gives advice on any step of the process you might need, from setting up a sales plan to going into a joint venture.

This book comes highly recommended by me personally. It is required reading for my staff.

The recent publication of "Handbook of Acrylics for Submersibles, Hyperbaric Chambers and Aquaria" by Dr. Jerry Stachiw provides a singular reference material to which any prospective designer or fabricator may turn to ensure an high quality, safe and cost-effective product. I can assure you that this handbook should form an essential part of the library of any persons or entities considering the development and fielding of acrylic windows.

As a designer, I am often at a loss to find a handbook that in clear enginering language presents the solutions to my design problems. I have found 'The Handbook of Acrylics for Submersibles, Hyperbaric Chambers and Aquaria' by Dr J D Stachiw to be such a publication. It truly explains in plain language all the criteria affecting the design of acrylic pressure resistant structural components. I use it frequently.

seminal figure for post-war European music new and old

When I studied conducting I thought only contemporary works will give one a technique, but no matter what you conduct Scherchen's book here makes you realize that music is music and we are simply examining timbre, and balance, its structure(top to bottom or vice versa) its shape and articulation.Whether you want to conduct only the new or only the old this is a wonderful compendium of basic problems. Scherchen focuses upon timbral problems, articulation and dynamics, what it means and how certain instruments "speak" or fail to within certain contexts.
The shapes and direction of phrases and musical lines are explored here and it makes you search for similar passages from Beethoven to Stockhausen. The structure of this book is by orchestral familes with an ample amount of real examples, excerpts from primarily classical literature, some excerpts by Hindemith. And I can tell you from experience that there is no shortage of knowledge in learning the unique features of each instrument. You can also accomplish this work from a rich survey of solo unaccompanied literarture. Bach's famous "Sonatas and Partitias" for solo violin, Berio's numerous "Sequenzas" would be great places to start.

There are no interpretive insights offered here as none can be. Scherchen lets you, he respects one's intelligence to make up your own mind and simply gives you the problem to be resolved and contemplated.

Scherchen was a seminal figure for post-war Europe, the new and old where young conductors as the young Pierre Boulez and Bruno Maderna had attended his rehearsals. Scherchen also encouraged young composers to submit works to him for performance. Xenakis tells a story where he had visited Scherchen in his hotel room where he found him covered in the enormous pages of his "Metastasis" 3 foot by 3 foot (on the bed)

This book leads any students conductor through a series of excersises and musical examples that cover nearly every combination of ritards, stops, pauses etc. By this book, even if it is only for a reference or opinion on how you might handle a particular situation.

This book is about a boy who lives with his relatives because his parents are . During his time at Hogwarts he encounters a giant, a troll, and a three headed d... well, you'll find out what has three heads when you're reading the book. So if you think that you're a fantasy kind of guy then you'll love the Harry Potter series.

Harry Potter 2 book review by Bobby Miller
Harry potter 2 the chamber of secrets by J.K Rowling is a great read if you've just finished #1. Harry potter has just finished his first year at Hogwarts and now he's just got a few things on his mind, for example his friends haven't written him a single letter all summer, a small house elf is hiding in his room and once he gets to school people stars getting Petri... well maybe I should just let you read the book to find out what happens. Anyway, if you start this book it will drive you crazy until you've found out what happens.

The third of four Chamber of Secrets art coloring books

You will find all of your favorite characters and scenes from the film Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in this third of four Chamber of Secrets art coloring books, each illustration rendered in vivid black and white detail. But wait - there's more. You also get a quite impressive set of stencils for your amusement and creative inspiration: the sorting hat, a broom (although I can't tell if it is a Nimbus 2000), the Golden Snitch, Harry's trademark glasses, a cauldron, Hedwig (Harry's snowy owl, but I'm sure you knew that already), and a Hogwarts coat of arms. Personally, I just like looking at the pictures, but if you are so inclined, there are many hours worth of fun awaiting those flourishing the ancient colored wands of Crayola. I don't know why the makers of this book put the best drawing of Hermione on a page facing Draco Malfoy in one of his more uppity poses, though - I recommend you make Draco look as ridiculous as possible in that particular drawing.

I needed a book in German that would motivate me to keep at it, so that I could increase my understanding and use of German. This book was perfect. The story was so good, I relied on context more and more, rather than compulsively looking up each new word in a dictionary. This is how I learned as a child, and it's still a good way to learn.

J.K.Rowling did it again!

"Harry Potter und die Kammer des Schreckens" is the German translation of the second Harry-Potter-book. I think I don't have to tell you anything about the story - see the reviews of the English version for details (besides: who wants to read more about the content of such a book than the back page offers - it would spoil some of the fun since the Potter books are in part a crime story!).

The translation is - judging from my reading experience - well done and worth reading. The language is not too complicated so the book qualifies as reading stuff for a foreigner wishing to practice his German reading skills. I didn't find any translation mistakes - the language sounded genuine German and was vivid and fun to read. The names (always a problem when translating) are not altered, so some of the flair that comes with the nicely selected names of the original is lost to the non-English reader. But this second book shows that this is the right way to go: there is a name-letter-puzzle which plays a key role in this book and translating that one would have been a very hard task indeed.

So the translation receives 5 stars, all well earned for the content as for the translation.

My final note goes to the discussion if this book is for adults as well as teenagers or not: anyone waiting for deep insights into the society, mankind and the world we live in will be disappointed when reading this book. But it is by far the best youth book I ever read, 350 fast pacing pages and I never regretted that I bought it. Nobody whants to read Joyce all the time. And when I turn too light reading stuff, I expect quality as well. Here is where this book has its place in the adult market.

this must be the worst sick drivel that i have ever read! usually i love to read mystery and/or horror stories e.g E.A.Poe,but these stories are just plain revolting, exploiting such normal feelings as a mother's love for her child in the grossest possible way!

Classic modern horror stories.

New Life for the Dead is one of the best horror collections of the 1990s, and it features many of Rodgers' best short works, including his Bram Stoker Award-winning novelet, "The Boy Who Came Back from the Dead." It was also highly recommended by Orson Scott Card in The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction.
