I'm not kidding... I did. The juggling balls are a perfect fit to anyone's hand. I bought the kit because I needed to learn how to juggle for a class, and I got an A! Pretty good for a first timer! Besides, it's a great exercise for your arms.. try it for a couple of hours and you'll see the effects!

Great book for a beginning juggler!

I bought this book after seeing a few friends juggling and finding the book on sale at my local Borders store. I didn't think it would take me long to get the hang of throwing and catching three beanbags and now, almost 6 months after buying the book, I am quite proficient with a 3 ball cascade, making a few catches with a 4 ball fountain, and I've been bought juggling clubs!

I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to get into juggling, for fun or sport, it's simple to use and fun to follow along with. The only thing I do not like is that the book's format makes you wish it was spiral bound or bound in a way it can easily be laid flat.

I loved the hole pack. I was trying to find a cheap set of juggling balls to to start learning, when I saw this pack i didn't notice that the beanbags weren't balls but cubes and I was a bit worried at first. Anyway they are great, well balanced, with the right weight, and the unusual format is perfect to beginners, since you will drop them a lot they won't roll away from you like the rounds' ones.

Excellent For Beginners

Within an hour of getting this book, I was able to juggle ( though not skillfully at all)three balls. Granted, I've had a little bit of prior juggling experience from years and years ago, so I wasn't totally unfamiliar with the motions. The instructions were very clear and so were the illustrations after I used a hi-liter to keep track of the otherwise black and white balls.

I must say I felt bad with the price of the book - I felt it was much too high. But after reading the first few chapters of the book, and noting that it flows and is very easy to understand, I do not have to complain so much now. I am loving the book now.

There isn't much more to say. This book is concise -- it gets right to the point, every time. It is also thorough -- it covers everything you need to move on to advanced statistics. But, best of all, it presents the material in a way that is very easy to understand and allows students to apply their new knowledge to the behavioral sciences.

how to test hypotheses
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2006-10-28
[A review of the 7th Edition, that came out in 2006.]

The text starts off easily. With the elementary definitions of mean, median, percentiles etc. Things you probably should have dealt with in high school. Likewise with its treatment of probability theory. Though the latter goes directly to the normal or Gaussian distribution.

But the meat of the book really starts in part 3, which is about inferences of means and mean differences. For you, as a student or researcher, what is important is not a definition of terms and distributions, but how to test hypotheses. From this flows such ideas as the t statistic and the analysis of variance (ANOVA). Part 4 builds on this, with nonparametric tests and regression analysis. The linear regression in one variable is simple. Then you get multiple regression with 2 variables. Tied in is the chi square test and various other tests.

The book also is a quick introduction to using SPSS as your basic statistical program. In your field, SPSS is likely to be the dominant such program, and you need an indepth acquaintance with it.

If you're a fan of Heath Ledger(or have seen the TV series) you'll know basically what this book is all about. I've always believed that a movie can never capture the magic of a good book, and this is a good example of just that. Through reading this masterpice by Sean Kiernan, you become much more aquainted with the characters and their feelings, and are given much more information of the relationship between Conor and Claire(how they first met, etc). Well worth reading.

Outstanding Author!

I have never seen the show ROAR, but the book was awesome! Sean Kiernan is now one of my favorite authors, and I can't wait to read the sequel. It was great literature, very descriptive. I couldn't put it down. It had a different sort of plot, but very interesting. I recommend it! Great book!

I've been a fan of the series since it first aired and was extremely disappointed when Fox cancelled it without airing the last 5 episodes. I then heard about the books coming out, but could not get my hands on them till now. I finished Roar yesterday and all I can is wow! I love that they included the story behind the story with Gar as a young man and Conor not even born yet. I also liked the allusions that were made about Catlin's father. Overall I thought this book ran true to form and I'm glad that nothing was cut out that was in the pilot episode.

An excellent prologue to the show......

the Roar book was great because it gives you all the background for the show in great detail. (even if it is a little late for that) i loved the show and was upset when it went off the air in '97. this book was like a breath of fresh air to my stifling passion for Roar. i thoroughly enjoyed it and will read it again and fully intend to read the sequel. A must for any Roarior!

It is a great way to find out things about each other that really make us who we are. The game has provided insights in our family on events, interests, and other aspects of ourselves that we had not taken the time to find out. Do your family a favor and spend time with this game asking all to answer the questions. You will have great fun, become closer and have a better understanding of each other. I gave a deck of Go Ask Your Father cards to two friends recently while we were out to dinner. They opened them to look at some questions before palying with their dads. Can I just say it turned out to be one of the most interesting and touching dinners I've had ever. The emotions and memories that come up are incredible and we laughed and laughed the night away. It was great fun! Can't wait to try the other products.

Thanks for a fun way to connect with my family when our lives are so busy.

We've started using the cards once a week after Sunday dinner. Some questions have been light and fun, while others heavier, leading to further questions, and deeper discussions. My sons (11 & 7) love asking the questions and hearing the answers. The cards have been a great way for them to learn about things that they wouldn't have asked on their own. Highly recommended, and the price is right! Would make a great gift.

Like another reviewer, I recently found this on my shelf and was curious to see whether it was in print. I'm 22 now and must've been around 8 when I got it.

I'm in University now, studying software engineering, and I have to say that this book really spurred my interest in science. It comes with so many cool things, a magnet, agar, diffraction grating, and a fresnel lens.

Highly recommend this to parents, aunts, and uncles looking for an awesome gift for a youngster in the family. The kid won't be disappointed once they get into it after expecting an action figure or video game.

Pete's cookbook is an excellent resource which I highly recommend. What makes the book 'work' for me is there are many superb examples of both simple and complex practical SQL and SQL*PLUS problems and solutions. In addition to being humorous, it is easy to follow and to understand. When I am trying to get a task done by a certain deadline, I don't have time to wade through miles of explanation. I need the answer YESTERDAY and the SQL COOKBOOK does that for me. I also teach Oracle courses and my students really love the book too.

What, specifically, is in this book?
Helpful Votes: 11 out of 12 total.
Review Date: 2001-05-24
If you're thinking about buying this book, you might want to know what's in it. This book is about 250 pages, and each page contains one example of something you can do in SQL*Plus. There is only a small amount of explanation about what the example does, often only a sentence.

The examples are all things that people who work with Oracle might want to do from time to time, but might not know how to accomplish.

So this book will be most appreciated by someone who already has a certain amount of experience with Oracle. If you use the Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced categories of Oracle knowledge, I'd say the people who would most like this book are those who are at least half way through the Beginner stage, up to people who are just entering the Advanced stage.

If you are a rank beginner to Oracle, you will not understand many of the examples. For instance, the page for Using Array Processing merely demonstrates, for SQL*Plus, the command SHOW ARRAYSIZE. That's all! If you already know what array processing is, and just want to know how to determine what arraysize is currently set to, then the command shown will be helpful. But if you don't know about array processing in SQL*Plus, what's the use of seeing this page?

Most of the book is like this. In fact, imagine for a minute there was a SQL*Plus expert in your office, and every day several people came over and asked, "I'm stuck on one point and was wondering if you could tell me how to...." Now suppose that expert typed a few commands, showing the person how to do the specific thing they were asking, and then saved what he typed. After he had 250 commonly asked questions, he put what he typed in a book, one per page, adding a title to the page and maybe one sentence of explanation.

That's exactly what this book is. It assumes you already have a certain level of knowledge about Oracle in general, and about SQL*Plus in particular. If that's true for you, then great, you'll appreciate these 250 techniques and tips, because they're things you'll probably want to know how to do. But even if you have a year or two of experience with Oracle, you'll probably find you have to look in the Oracle documentation for a fuller explanation to make sense of some of the things in this book.

That's not necessarily a bad thing. It could be a great way to learn. In fact, if you're a rank beginner, you might still like this book if you're the type of person who likes to dive right in and start typing commands to see what they do. Just be aware that you better have the Oracle documentation CD-ROM handy, because virtually none of the great commands and techniques shown in this book are accompanied by any explanation other than the occasional sentence.

If you are the type who likes to read complete explanations, I'd suggest the SQL*Plus book by Gennick. Whatever, this is a good book, it's just that you'll probably need some background before you can really appreciate and make use of it.

Got to be the worst cover ever - even though its his daughters idea sorry! I cover it in brown paper at client sites. Its an excellent dip in and read and contains solutions to many commonly experienced problems both for experience and neophytes alike. For me its a MUST HAVE. I can give it to very inexperiened developers rather than explain for the n'th time how to define your editor in SQLPLUS for example.

At first glance I thought this was a business book. It's not at all a business book, or I should say, it's so much more than that. Richard discusses ideas that apply to all areas of your life, including situations and relationships at work. This book is about being better, a "better" employee, a "better" friend or spouse, taking "better" care of yourself...whatever is important to you. He writes about remembering what you can control (your reactions), not being a victim, and taking care of what is important in your life. I recently completed reading this book for the 3rd time since I first received it. Each time I've read it, I've been reminded of what is important in my life. I'm reminded of my priorities, but also of how I do not always give them the appropriate energy and attention. It's a quick and easy read. He uses specific, real-life examples to illustrate his points. There are no gimmicks here. I recommend this book to anyone who is willing to take him- or herself on.

Highly recommend

At first, I thought Cassidy was simply going to provide an overview of great books on leadership. However, his style of writing quickly became very passionate and personal. He dates himself to be 36 years old at the time of publication but has wisdom beyond his years. Cassidy incorporated sports and personal events to depict the ideas in his book that were both entertaining and memorable. Many times, he over-explained the point he was presenting so that 3 pages could have been effectively stated in 5 sentences, and the lack grammar was slightly distracting. Overlooking these trivial flaws will allow you to learn powerful lessons. When drawn into self-pity or just reacting to daily circumstances, I am reminded of Cassidy's easy-to-understand concepts. Thank you Ann for providing this book and thank you Cassidy for sharing pieces of your life in order to advance the lives of those around you. I highly recommend this book.

I loved this book for a number of reasons. It is not a "heavy" book with a lot of research and statistics and can quickly be read by most readers. It is a real world view of life through the eyes of a man who has some important messages that we all need to pay attention to when it comes to accountability. But, what I like most is that even young adults should find this interesting. I have personally sent two copies of this book to young adults down to the age of 14. If you are influencing the young, I would recommend this book as part of your strategy. Let them know about how important accountability will be to their success in work, relationships, marriage, and parenting. Richard Cassidy's book touches on all of these area's and is a great read for adults and youth.

Cassidy has a bias for action and his first book demonstrates this bias through both form and content. The basic message is that if we understand and act like we are in control rather than victims of some unseen hand of fate our lives will be fuller, richer and more complete. I have the opportunity of teaching a college senior seminar and one goal is getting undergrads more ready to face the "real world." As I read this book I saw illustrations that I thought students would both identify and understand as the author begins early with the admonition to not be the victim. In practical terms he explains how to make accountability a driving force in your own life - thereby morphing the noun to a verb. Cassidy gets personal with this message and that is a technique that many of my students found authentic and useful as they captured the message of this relatively short but focused life lesson. The author discusses his quest for the best in his job, the actions involved in building a strong spousal relationship and the care, time and attention devoted to his son. He also relates important, relevant and timely examples of others who have made accountability the verb in their lives. This combination of the personal and the personalization make this book easy to understand while providing opportunities for lively discussion on ways to engage in life rather than just letting what might happen, happen. This was interesting to an old guy and many of my seniors found it valuable to their thinking as they begin the transition from college to the work place.

Terrific book, which I try to keep on hand to give to depressed bed-ridden people. It really seems to help people keep their minds off their worries. I ordered two copies on 1 May and have just cancelled my order on 23 May because the total $100+ order hasn't arrived and nobody at Amazon seems to care. Now I'll have to start all over again from a different seller, because I can't trust Amazon again with an order. Too bad.

I actually give this book 5 squillion gazillion satrs-it's FANTASTIC!!!!!! Should you get it?? YES YOU SHOULD!! (as long as you're over 8 years old-sorry under 8s-that's what it says on the back of the book.)
Do you wish you could draw? Not necessarily to be an 'Artiste' or whatever, but just for fun? Do you look at all kinds of art~from greetings cards to school kids' comics to the art in world famous galleries and think 'I wish I could do that' [please say 'yes' here otherwise I'll get paranoid]? Me too. Well, here's the answer!!
Sure other art teaching type books probably have their merits, but none can hold a candle to this one.
It's a square, a little smaller than A4 size, ringbound, and comes with 2 watercolor pencils (I can't tell you how fun these are!) and a drawing pen-all of artist quality.
Lessons and directions are mostly kept to the periphery leaving big blank spaces for you-the budding new artist, to fill in, add to or enhance some of the unfinished sketches in there-THAT'S RIGHT! YOU DRAW IN THE BOOK-no other ingredients needed!! (So this isn't really suitable for a library or something to share between kids; it's totally personal and that's actually part of the charm.)
FUN is the key ingredient to any successful learning and this is what we have here in spades, and you learn proper techniques too-it's not just about doodling, and the encouraging, esteem building way it's written is just buoying!
And here's another bonus; there's no upper age limit, so as long as you're 8+, you're set; I'll be 33 soonish and I LOVE THIS!!!!
So get this for yourself or for anyone who wants to draw and have a blast!! It's 104 pages of absolute brilliance!!
And may I say a big heartfelt thank you to all the people behind it; I used to be embarrassed about my drawings-never feeling like I measured up, but you guys have made me feel great about it-turns out I actually can draw!!!

Excellent and fun! A winner...

This a wonderfully constucted (board covers and spiral bound) book that comes with pencils. The book is about drawing and meant to be drawn upon...what a combo!

There is instuction in the book but it's subtle and never says *a sky should look like this and a dog like this*. It's more about the joy of drawing and just getting started than it is about how to draw anything in a line by line way. A great thing for kids as they get to develope their own style.

That isn't to say there aren't lessons to be learned (perspective, shading, faces...showing movement, etc) The book is set up with small amounts of text and drawings (almost doodles) on the pages with the expectation that you will draw your own designs on the blank spaces. One thing I just love is that the pictures they included as examples are very sketchy and loose... simple and quickly drawn. Nothing that anyone would look at and say "I could never do that!" about. I think that is wonderful. I have seen too many how to draw books where the results look nothing short of professional and when I buy them for my son he just looks at them and thinks he could never duplicate the result. Its intimidating and he won't even try.

with this book... The examples, looking more like doodles, are very inviting and non-threatening. Almost inviting you to add your own. Perfect!

The text is helpful and humorous. Some pages there is very little and others...there is more but it's all friendly and conversational. This is a real winner!

Bought for my 7 year old Grandaughter who's the only one in the family that is not artistically challanged. She has spent hours reading and using the ideas in the book. Improved her confidence 100%. Would recommend to all for child who really wants to draw but doesn't understand you don't have to end up with a picture like a photograph.

This is a wonderful book on drawing, and I would recommend it to anyone whose age ranges between 10 and 100.The author gives plenty of ideas for those who are shy at first, but they are written with a small types so if you don't need help you are not forced to have it , and the instructions are very clear and easy to follow.
However I would not give it to yopung children for two reasons. Reason number one is that children younger than ten express themselves through drawing. The way they draw a tree, for example, tells us a lot about their personality. No instruction should be given before age 8. Reason number two is the instructions are a bit difficult for kids up to third grade.
I suggest teacher should use this book as an art connection inside a Roald Dahl author study.

This is not your typical romance novel. Everlasting Journey, by Meloni Cassidy, is much more than a romance novel, though it contains plenty of that and some steamy scenes that men will fancy as well. It is a fantastic tale of time travel, stitched together in a tidy and believable manner. The story, however, is neither simple, nor predictable. Just when you think you've figured out what's going to happen, Cassidy throws in a slight twist that keeps you wondering what is going to happen next.

The plot catapults a modern, liberated and spunky woman into a constricting age of corsets and southern chivalry. While constantly aware of the differences in times and cultures, Everlasting Journey is acutely aware of those human characteristics that are timeless. Cassidy understands things about character and plot development that can't be taught. She's a natural writer with a flair for romance. A very entertaining read.

I think Meloni was given an extra measure of imagination. Her enthusiasm is evident in every chapter and I could feel the writer living the adventure and letting the words flow with excellent dialogue and narrative. The author entwines different centuries and different cultures with skill as fascinating characters appear before the reader. The entire story was never, never boring and I had no idea how it was all going to end.

And at the end of the book, my mind was still going on with the story. I wanted to have two of the characters go to Alabama to see if the manor house from the 19th century was still there. But that did not happen. Perhaps in a sequel they will take this journey. But maybe not.

I probably wouldn't give this book to one of my granddaughters, but there is so much here besides the vividly described romance. I read this book in two days, so be sure you've got time to finish it because it will captivate you from beginning to end.

Review by Abe F. March, author of "To Beirut and Back"

With her first novel, Meloni Cassidy has proven herself a first class writer. She has cleverly written a "back to the future" tale that is both suspenseful and romantically stimulating. Meloni does justice to the characters she has created to fit their devised roles. The setting for the story seems to be a place where the writer has been. or could have been, based on the descriptive manner in which she has written. She has woven dramatic historical events into the intrigue of the story that adds to its appeal. I heartily recommend this book.

This is very useful for times where you need to inspire a little conversation. I'm a guide for Adventures in Good Company that offers adventure travel for women. Sometimes on long van rides, this product is perfect for getting conversation going when I'm needing to focus on driving. And it really makes the time fly by.

We bought our first deck 4 years ago and have had so much fun pulling it out at family dinners that we bought several more to give as gifts this Christmas. Our family constantly amazes each other with our answers! We learn a lot about each other, and stories that would not have surfaced otherwise come out. Lots of laughter, love and sharing. I highly recommend this purchase! P.S. I also use this for group facilitations to get provocative icebreakers and intro questions.

I used this game for an after Thanksgiving activity and the results were great. Everyone from my 78 year old mother to my 17 year old niece participated. We had one guest that most of us were meeting for the first time and she seemed to enjoy the enclusion.

I bought "Go ask Anyone" to play with my five year old niece. We live so far away from each other and our visit always seem to short I thought this might help me really get to know HER better. I asked her "If they were going to make a movie of your life what cartoon would play you?" she replied "Daphnie, from Scooby Doo, but you'd have to help me learn my lines." It was a moment I'll never forget!

Fabulous!

I brought a couple of decks of "Go Ask" down to my family's beach house. My parents sat on the beach and enjoyed the cards with my 13 and 16 year old neices. The cards are great means to open conversations, share fun memories and compare how times change.
With friends, open a bottle of wine, sit and enjoy! Lots of laughs, giggles and recollections.
Bring the cards with you when you travel, go out with girlfriends, or when you're hosting a casual dinner with neighbors. Enjoy!
