A woman steps away from heartache, into a simple job of helping her relative who runs an investigation service. But soon Emily finds herself confronting a handsome fellow from her past, a man who happens to be the prime suspect in a string of murders. In shot order, she learns to stretch being all she can be!

I found this romance, mystery a pleasure to read. I also enjoyed
seeing a character portrayed accurately as someone suffering from CFIDS! Apparently, Ms. Carter has a sister who has the immunity illness. Though CFIDS is an aspect of this character, it is not a subject mainlined in this murder romance tale. I highly recommend this book and Ms. Carter's other title: Mirror Mirror.

Excellent book!

Brandy Carter has managed to write a fast-paced mystery full of playful observations, and dry wit.

Spunky Emily Ryan is hired by her cousin Anne Hunter, a private investigator who is temporatily confined to a wheel-chair, to help in the investigation of a missing person.

You will be intrigued with the investigation as it uncovers murder and much more.

This author has managed to weave mystery and romance into this fast-paced book, which surely is destined to become a best seller.

Ms. Carter is rapidly becoming one of the hottest authors on the East coast with this her second book in two years.

Post script - the book is a nice size to hold and the print is easy on the eyes. Perfect!

My father bought it on Amazon.com and when it arrived, I was so excited! It came with a poster so you could write down the time and the other info. The kit also included six play scripts, a production guide That included a "make-your-own program" on the back cover, and 20 tickets. The play was about a bored girl who went out with her puppy and they meet an alien director who wants to film a movie about earth. They go many places and the girl realizes that its not so boring on a Saturday.

My little girl LOVES this book! It was given to her used but that is great becasue it was still fun for her. The flaps get bent and pulled on but over all she LOVES this book. The age for this book states 4-6 but mine is not even 2 yet and plays with it and says the words just fine so it is fun for all ages.

Great for developing little minds

This is the ultimate book for your growing infant to toddler! The images are simple, text clear, and this book offers much from which to learn. The winning point about this book is that it features both lift the flaps and textures under the flap. The shiny pot behind the cupboard flap/door....very memorable and endearing. The main character, the kitty, is an easy image to follow throughout the book. My daughter loves this book and wants to do all of the things herself. I hope Noelle and Scholastic are planning more because I'll buy them all and for all my friends bearing babies!!

Golden Age mystery classic

Review Date: 2006-09-16
John Dickson Carr (alias Carter Dickson) is at or near the peak of his formidable talents in this book. The pace is fast, the atmosphere chilling, and the characterizations realistic and interesting, which I think in itself tends to separate him from the other great creator of Golden Age mysteries, Agatha Christie. He mixes in humor and romance nicely. And most importantly, he creates the most baffling and difficult to solve murder puzzles that any mystery writer has ever managed. This element is really brilliant and impressive, and this is one of his most challenging puzzles (how did the murderer not make any footprints in the unbroken snow around the victim's cottage--the only set was left by the discoverer of the body! Whatever you are guessing....probably not), and most elegant and satisfying solutions.

Carr/ Dickson's portrayal of women is somewhat controversial I think, but I am generally impressed that he creates and obviously likes and admires strong women who defy conventions in pursuit of what they want. The victim here is well drawn--a charismatic and brilliant actress, though unfortunately selfish, callous, and manipulative, which brings about her downfall--but I won't give away details.

This is one of the finest books featuring Dickson's detective H.M. (Sir Henry Merrivale), who combines keen intelligence, ill-temper, lowbrow humor, and bombast in a very Churchill-like way. Like Churchill he is given a background as a prominent WWI era government official, though I trust H.M.'s management of military intelligence went a bit better than Sir Winston's rocky tenure at the Admiralty--certainly if he brought to bear the brilliance and shrewdness on display in this classic whodunnit.

Written in the bricks is more that just a beautiful coffee-table book. The stories contained in the accompanying text really highlight the uniqueness of Mississippi and its people. Rather than simply describing the photographs, the text invites the reader to see beyond the walls to the people who inspired the architecture and worked on the buildings. I recommend this book to anyone who has an interest in the deep south, its architecture, and its heritage. I cannot recommend this book more highly.

Gorgeous book

The author and photographer have done a great job of making Mississippi's history come alive. The text tells a story rather than just repeating what is written in history books, and the photographs show both the beauty and sometimes starkness of the historical sites. A good choice for history buffs and for anyone who enjoys architectural history.

Zaida's book is GOOD!
I could identify with much of what Zaida expressed. I would defintely buy this book again. This is not an elaborate "how to learn to belly dance" book (I learned belly dance 30 years ago-Greek/Turkish, Egpytian and Moroccan styles) it is more of a how to live with Joy and dance in your life. Would like to read more from Ms Carter in the future.

Zaida doesn't tell you HOW to dance but more how to change your attitude as an older woman and ENJOY dancing. Very freeing.

10 Secret that still hold true

I have always been frustrated when I bowl. MY score was never high and I looked like a fool. This book has helped to change that. After the first time I read it my bowling scores jumped.
This book shows you a tried and true style of bowling that is becoming lost in today's flashy "hook" obsessed bowling fetish. The book walks you through step by step of how to grip the ball all the way to how to pick up the spare (if necessary). It features easy to understand explanations and detailed illustrations. I have read this book over and over and will still pick it up now a then.
I would recommend this book to everyone that bowls. Who better to learn to bowl from then a man that was voted the best bowler EVER!!! Don Carter is the man!!!

This book is one that should really be considered as a study guide for sunday school or prayer meetings. Myself, being a born again Christian, it answered a lot of questions for me and made me dig deeper into the word of God and answered a lot of questions that has been nagging at my soul since becoming saved. If you are searching for answers and are tired of opinions, you need this book , along with the King James version of the Bible.

The many quotes that were arranged and can be found in this book are excellent for use in your daily walk and for much instruction in the Lord. I found these to be quite useful in understanding certain topics found in the Bible, and sometimes found Spurgeon's quotes to be quite humorous. If there is any quotation book to get, this is a must have!

A nice biography on Aaron Carter that tells you his life story. Easy to read, had pictures, and was truthful. It was pretty good. I would recommend it to a new Aaron Carter fan or someone who dosn't know much about him. If you're a big Aaron Carter fan, read the book his mom wrote
