Entertaining! Thought provoking! Humorous! Combined with the wonderful illustrations and Joanna Sandsmark's delightful storytelling and unique insight into the lives of women and their dogs, this book is an enjoyable read for both dog and non-dog owners alike. Women. who have owned dogs, will be nodding in agreement and reminiscing about special companions who have shared their lives. Those who haven't had this experience. may be persuaded to take the leap and discover a new loyal and devoted friend, they never imagined they would have. I truly loved this book!!!!

The title-story alone is worth the price of this book. The survivors of a crashed spaceship awaken to find their craft carefully disassembled, as if by an unseen hand. This is just the beginning, friends. Let me tell you, if you haven't read Sturgeon, you haven't read science-fiction. ASF

Darkly funny, disturbing novel!
Helpful Votes: 4 out of 4 total.

I saw Good Girl Wants It Bad on the bookstore shelf and picked it up on a whim and was immediately enthralled by the dark language and unsettling humor. I couldn't put the memoirs of a nineteen-year-old nymphomaniac serial killer on death row down. With dark humor, beautiful prose and disturbing descriptions, Delilah "Lah" Riordan regales the reader with her life story and countdown to her demise. She also tells us about her affairs with her prison psychologists and research analysts. The secrets surrounding the murders she had been convicted for are discovered throughout her entries, legal files, interviews and letters.

Good Girl Wants It Bad is one of the darkest, most disturbing novels I've recently read. Scott Bradfield delves into the psyche of a deluded young woman and her sad childhood and dependency toward men and sex with excellent insight and prose. The book may come across as confusing at times. Lah has a rather disarming way of convincing herself and the reader that she is the proverbial "good girl," just someone who has been deeply misunderstood. And she does come across as endearing and even innocent in some very darkly funny scenes. Are you in the bargain for something dark, literary and different? I strongly suggest you give this novel a whirl. I am so glad I stumbled upon this book. For it is one of my best reading investments of the year!

Good book if you're always calling a government #

This book is AWESOME! Every government number at your access in one spot! There are websites out there, but nothing as comprehensible AND EASY as this. It's like a dictionary...you'll never read it, but you'll thumb through it and find all sorts of #'s for the government you didn't even know existed! If you rarely call the government, don't bother forking out a couple hundred bucks on this. Search the web instead; it's cheaper for you that way.

art of the aphorist has now returned

Without contradiction, life would be impossible. He who never doubts his freedom will never be free. Humor is the glue that keeps the frame of sanity from splitting apart. . . . The above are just a few of the multitude of treasures to be gleaned from Grains of Thought. In the best tradition of the aphorist, it has encapsulated in concise prose thoughts that sparkle with clarity at the same time as they provoke further meditation. With wit and wisdom he explores practical and metaphysical dimensions of life. From human relations, to the nature of man, to, indeed, the nature of existence, no subject escapes the sharp eye of the author. A book that may and will be enjoyed at any time.

I have to say that this author and this story is excellent!!! Tom had read to me since I was a baby. He's a very good author and a good story teller of past experiences. This story is my favorite book, I take it everywhere as if it was my bible! Why I do so, is because I am apart of this book. I am on Page 30! I would love to see if he brings out more books. And if so, I have another book to add to my collection.

The ending maybe let me down a tiny bit, but the rest of this book was superb and even the ending was very good. His dialogue is full of smart one-liners and the narrator has a keen and wry perspective. The premise drew me in and there were twists and turns aplenty. I've read about a dozen mysteries recently and this is one of my two or three favorites.
