This book is not about navigation.Review Date: 1999-08-13
The title is wrong.Review Date: 1999-08-16
Pretty pictures, absolutely no substanceReview Date: 2000-02-12
There is absolutely no statistical, or even anecdotal information as to the success of these designs -- success being determined by sales, leads generation, customer satisfaction, etc. The authors *like* the designs and consider them examples of "thinking outside the box".
This is a book about being cool, not a book about effective design -- making it useless to professional designers who are held accountable for the profitability of the web site, not just how it looks.
Excellent choice of featured sites.Review Date: 1999-12-15
The previous reviewer mentioned that it contains no content about navigation. Well of course not. The title of the book is NOT "Website Navigation", it is "Website Graphics: Navigation" and it is part of a series, the others being "Website Graphics: Typography" and "Website Graphics: Color". But anyway I disagree with the reviewer. You can learn a lot about alternative ways of navigating through websites using this book. Instead of a vertical menu down the left hand side, why not use dials or a street map metaphor. Also there are multiple ways of indicating which page/section the user is in, some of them very creative.
Well done to the editors, you have chosen very good sites. I am currently recommending that my institute's library gets the whole set of three.

Ricco, why couldnt you beat up Sylvia?Review Date: 2003-12-27
Plain and simple, Ricco could not take me in a street fight.
I have witness many things
that have turned me into a fighting machine. I have witnessed a friend die in front of my eyes. I have also witnessed my girlfriend
getting raped as 5 guys pinned me down and force me to watch.
I could probably beat up Fedor if I did not run a multimillion dollar tanning business and have to beat the girls off of me with a stick. I mean, where can I find the time to even train.
One time, Kirik came over and we strapped hotdogs to our forehead and rushed at each other when we bent over.
Not as good as I had hoped...Review Date: 2003-12-25
As poorly conceived as this book was, there are a few heart-warming moments and revelations. For example, by detailing his relationships with fellow fighters Phil Baroni and Tito Ortiz, Rodriguez may (even inadvertantly) be paving the way for bisexual male fighters to operate freely within the sport, and for that Ricco and this book must be applauded.

Simple But EffectiveReview Date: 2007-04-29
I didn't need to read the book but I picked it up because no matter where a person is in their financial life there is a lot of information they can use. Information that they might not have remembered about because they need to start over but have no idea how to begin. Any one of these tips would be useful for either a beginner who is starting to accumulate "real" money or a person just trying to get out of debt. People don't think straight when they worry about things as important as money and that's what this book helps them deal with.

The book dealt mostly with the life of a fictional character Lenora Demarest. Lenora lost her loving mother at a young age and moved to Puerto Rico with her father. The book followed her journey to adulthood, both in taking over her father's business (grapefruits) to fulfilling her dream of becoming an aviator (one of the first women). There is some romance thrown into the novel as well, but I felt it is the friendships Clara forms both with the affluent (like herself) and her workers that truly shines.
I felt the author did a magnificent job with detail. She not only did a fantastic job letting you know the main characters (and even some of the background characters) but she also did a tremendous job offering you the chance to see what she was seeing with non-vital items such as views of the land below from the plane, jewelry descriptions and the food/meals that were eaten at that time in Puerto Rico.
The author touched upon the current events of the time (1920's - current) from the depression in the US, to Puerto Ricans feeling as if they did not belong, to Charles Lindbergh and Amelia Earhart, aviation and feminism.
I thoroughly enjoyed Miss Carlsons book and look forward to reading The Sunday Tertulia.
