I really like the format of this travel guide-- it's geared toward the type of vacation you're looking for (hip, classic, etc) and gives specific recommendations for each vacation type. The information provided in the recommendations really helps to give a feel of the place, not just hours and location.

KUDOES TO JOEL CARLSON

This book has been in my collection for many years, as I buy alot of books before I eventually get around to reading them. I'd read "My Traitor's Heart" by Rian Malan, and "Move Your Shadow" by Joseph Lelyveld. This one is also an excellent account of the brutality and injustice of Apartheid in South Africa. The latter was written much earlier than the other two and is told by a South African born lawyer. The stories of the many cases he took and causes he upheld is exciting, suspenseful but at the same time tragic. The book had me spellbound until the end where his very life is so threatened that he is forced to leave his country. This book portrays much of what blacks had to endure, pass laws, detention, prison, brutal torture without any recourse. In reading "No Neutral Ground", one can really appreciate the fact that most of the evils of this government has been crushed. I say "most" because life is still no bed of roses for the blacks of the land. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has the least bit of curiousity about what life was like there at that time. I just wish I had not waited so long to finally take this wonderful book out of my bookcase and read it! Thank you Joel, for all your compassion and dedication to helping to make life better for all humanity.

This book is a must for children. Through reading it each child will see a bit of themself. They will learn a good lesson that they can carry on with them into their adult life. I found the sketches to be very good and each character had it's own personality. I have read this book to my children and feel very confident that anyone who reads it will walk away with a smile on their face and some peace in their heart.

We used this book in our homeschooling class to learn about the Constitution. The book was informative, easy to read and understand, without talking above the head of my 11 year old. The book took us from the beginning of the Constitution to the present age. It explained the how's, why's, and who's of everything involved in the development of our Constitution. The book explained the Bill of Rights and listed the first 10 Amendments and what they mean to us. I think for a brief overview of our Constitution, for grades 4th to 7th, this book is ideal. I think the content is "too much" for ages specified by the publisher (4 to 8).

My children (2, 3 & 5 year olds) love this book! They ask me to read it to them all the time. It is beautifully illustrated and written. The story fascinated my children and encouraged them to ask why one builder built his house quickly on sand when the other builder built his house slowly on rock. It is a wonderful teaching opportunity. It can be used for teaching the importance of making correct choices in life in order to build on the right foundation. The actual scripture reference and explanation is written in the back of the book. It is a book we will read for many years.

Parent Talk is the parenting equivalent to the Betty Crocker Cookbook for the kitchen. I mean you will take this book off the shelf again and again and again. It is organized to be a very handy ready reference. It has a quite useful table of contents which structures the book around the ages of the child. This is helpful since the issues in rearing a todler are so different from those of our teenagers.

This book helps us understand our children's behavior and, of course, it offers real practical steps to guide our children through their turmoil.

I get it now

Review Date: 2008-06-02
I checked this book out of the library first, then found it to be so useful that I had to purchase a copy of my own. I am sure there are other good books out there that explain Photoshop Elements, but this is the one that finally made things "click" for me. I am now happily playing with the program instead of pulling my hair out trying to figure out what the heck I'm doing. The chapters are laid out in a logical order, and all the steps are explained in clear language with plenty of diagrams and before/after photos. My only complaint is that the illustrations are small and all in black and white, which makes them less helpful than they could be, especially in the chapters dealing with color adjustments.
