A MUST for all women! Goddess-Feminist-Mother Healing!
Helpful Votes: 5 out of 6 total.
Review Date: 2005-05-17
For all you wonderful women out there (and loving men who recognize a strange relationship between the women in their lives), PLEASE READ THIS BOOK! After years (I'm 38 years old) of attending workshops/seminars and reading all sorts of books, I finally understand how to heal the relationship with my Mom - and more importantly how to heal my Self of my childhood images/relation/experience with her.

The added bonus is a wonderful piece on the Great Mother - the Goddess- for women that have not yet discovered her! This is not a feminist perspective, but more of a loving feminine view on loving one's Self as a woman....and accepting a greater reality in our role as Mothers and Daughters.

Even if you don't have any major 'issues' around your Mom or Daughter, read it as it will have a great impact on the way you see yourself.

Ms. Carlson obviously wrote this book with a great deal of love and respect for all women, including those clients who were lucky enough to work with her.

I hope this review helps you on your path to mental/emotional/spriritual/physical freedom.

Peace, Silvia

Important and Illuminating

"In The Room With Men" is an important addition to the (rather small) body of scholarly literature addressing psychotherapeutic practice with men. The included case studies each deal with a specific central issue: depression, grief, divorce etc. For every case, the practitioner discusses their rationale for the intervention style and techniques that they used; none of which are strictly affiliated with any particular theoretical school. In doing so, these counselors refute the formulaic, black- and- white discussions of counseling theories found in many textbooks. As a student I found the entire book useful; my only wish was for additional case studies. This book should be required reading for all Counseling and Psychology students planning to practice Psychotherapy.

This is an encouraging and inspirational account of a mans walk of faith. For all who aspire to follow God's plan for their life this could be the blueprint. Art's challenging life lived on total reliance on God for his every need.

I recommend this book without any reservations.

IT IS GREAT TO SEE THAT OUR SOCIETY IS COMING TOGETURE IN REGARDS TO RESPONDING TO DURING AND RECOVERY OF AN EMERGENCY BY USING ICS. THE FOG THAT YOU WRITE ABOUT IS A LITTLE OUT OF DATE. THE NEW VERSION ICS 420-1 DATED OCT 94 COVERES MORE IN THE AREAS AS FOLLOWS: 1.MACS 2.US&R 3.Multi Casualty 4.Organizational Guides 5.Hazardous Materials 6.Resource typing and Minimum Standards 7.Communications

This Field book was published by Fire Scope of California. What my organization has done was added to the Incident Command System to fit our organizational needs and still be able to communicate on the same page with our counter parts at the civil level.

Lots of practical, useful and down-to-earth information in Charles Carlson's "The Individual Investor Revolution". Carlson lists dozens of Internet sites, pointing and clicking the reader to valuable stock research previously available only to the professional investor. Carlson keeps things simple and easy to understand. He talks about the importance of owning stocks, investing regularly, simple investment plans, having patience with your investments. He provides a 100+ page list of U. S. stocks offering Direct Stock Purchase plans and a 28 page list of foreign stocks available for direct purchase through U. S. stock exchanges. He provides a lot of "how to" information for the small investor. This book has a lot of value and is worth reading.

Understanding Global Markets

Review Date: 2005-11-07
International Finance: Cases and Simulation represents a new concept in finance textbooks. It consists of twenty-five innovative cases and a unique foreign exchange management simulation. The cases illustrate such topics as foreign exchange risks, long-run investments and financing, working capital management, international banking, and control and taxation. The simulation exercise, FORAD, is intended to help its participants understand the nature of international finance markets, the tasks of corporate managers who operate in them, and the language, methods, risks, and opportunities that are peculiar to them. The simulation can be implemented in either the FORTRAN or the BASIC language. -- from book's back cover

A great book for all ages!

This book makes a great gift idea for grade-school kids. It's durable and compact. My son carries it in his backpack constantly. He loves keeping track of his own websites given to him by his friends and teachers. The blank tabs let him choose his own subjects throughout the book.
I even ordered one for myself. I don't need to put post-it notes and important info or passwords all around my desktop anymore.
When my computer crashed last winter, I lost all that important information I had stored on my hard drive. This book is safer and an added security for anyone!

Practical Information I Could Use Right Away

My kids are 14 and 11 and are becoming more savvy Internet users. The author is right when she says that kids will outpace your knowledge almost overnight. I felt like I needed some insider advice when it comes to adolescent use of the Internet. I got it. I particularly liked the suggested "net-etiquette" contract with family rules surrounding the Internet, advice on how to protect your child & family's identity online, how to protect financially sensitive information, reviewing what other kids post online about your kids, and advice on parental filters. This is written in a straight forward manner and is easy for non-technical types to understand. I found it very useful & informative.

A Grandmother's favorite reader

A wonderful book that helps teach the alphabet to young ones, but also is fun to share and read. My son's grandmother and he alike love the book. He loves the ryming verses and the involvement of the alphabet in each page's adventure in a new store on alphabet Street. His Grandmother found it was a warm book to share with her grandson. A book that is both an enjoyable favorite and teaches lessons or skills is the best one for all. Besides learning the alphabet, my son found the illustrations friendly and memorable. It provided a lasting memory of his grandmother, which he told many others about. You know if it's a child's favorite book, and his grandmother chose it for him, it's a keeper!
