Campbell Books

I am a first-year high school academic team coach. I was searching for something to help me coach the kids since the quiz questions provided to us after matches are in pretty bad shape and limited in number. They have been cut, pasted and copied so many times, they are nearly unreadable. The Lightening Round books and Campbell's Quiz books are great! We've even discovered that sometimes the Lightening Round books have been used for our matches. The kids love them. Those are the books they grab first when study time comes. I highly recommend them to all quiz bowl coaches!

Campbell's Casseroles (Shaped Cookbook) has lots of great casserole recipes that take only a few ingredients and are easy to fix. My husband does most of the cooking at our home and this is one of his favorite cookbooks.

this cookbook is one of my favorites. i use this one far more than any other that i own. i hate cooking and so this allows me to cook quick, simple, delicious meals. i recommend this cookbook for anyone.

We have this and use it to help our kids practice at home. We have middle and high school kids on the academic teams and the information in the book has been great for at home practice. I'm buying another one to donate to my freshman's academic team group to use at their practice!

It is extremely easy to use and the meals are really good. We have tried about six so far and they were easy and tasty. I would recommend this book.Campbell's Cooking Companion (The Ultimate Cookbook)

This is one of my all time favorite cookbooks. My copy is 20 years old! I have both this one and the hardback expanded version (but I actually prefer the softcover).

The recipes are set up with a list of ingredients, including mix and match for several items (i.e. you pick what type of soup, pasta, meat, cheese, seasoning, etc. from a list of suggestions). Any of their combinations are supposed to work well together. It's especially nice for novice cooks who are nervous of experimentation, as it really helps you gain confidence and it gives you ideas for what to do if you are out of an ingredient.

I have tried SEVERAL recipes out of this booklet and almost every one of them has been very good. So far I have tried Mexican Style Appetizer, Chili, Pasta and Bean Soup, Easy Pot Roast, Stir Fried Beef and Vegetables, Souper Enchiladas, Meatball Stew, Chicken Paprika, Chicken Stuffing Bake (one of hubby's all time favorite casseroles), Pasta with White Seafood Sauce (one of the few recipes we didn't care for), Vegetables Oriental, and Broccoli & Noodles Parmesgan. Even with that long list, there are still a lot of recipes that I want to try including, Cheese Stuffed Vegetables, Teriyaki Beef Kabobs, Baked Chicken Florida, Vegetable Lasagna, Skillet Potatoes, Savory Pilaf, and others.

I have five shelves of cooking books and this is by far one of my favorites. Overall the recipes are very easy and quick and mostly use common ingredients that I already have in my pantry and freezer. As I am sure you can tell by the list, there are plenty of "comfort" foods and what I think of as real home cooking. I would have to add the caveat though that for the most part I can't call them healthy recipes (although I make substitutions where I can like fat free mayo, Healthy Request cream soups, etc.)

My most recent recipe attempt was Best Ever Meatloaf and it was quite yummy.

I absolutely encourage you to try this book, especially if you are nervous about making substitutions when you cook. It will make you much more comfortable!!!

This book is almost exactly what it says it is -- it is an amazing compilation of interesting and significant information. It is perfect for Quiz/College Bowlers who want a reference or just some interesting reading. The information included is nearly comprehensive, Quiz/College Bowl-wise, except for a few notable omissions (perhaps most glaringly non-American literature; the book as a whole is American-centered). Even with these slight drawbacks, the book is still an amazing resource for the academic contestant.

This book really helps you if your in anacdemic team of some sort/or even reading it for fun!!
