Quirky funny, characters; a young Scottish scientist receives a call from a woman he knew as a little girl and hears some suprising news about a painting that used to hang in his childhood home. Light-hearted, but with menacing undertones.

This is an older book-printed in 1993, which includes a little bit of everything from supplements, folk remedies and holistic therapies such as massage and nerve pressure.
This book will give you an overall look at the different options that are available for a specific ailment.
After using this book I would look for more information to obtain a more in-depth understanding and options of a particular ailment.

Written with the same narrative skill that made 'Executive Suite' and 'Cash McCall' such wonderfully readable books, Cameron Hawley now achieves the full dimension of a truely major work. This is a truly rewarding novel, a book that no perceptive reader will soon forget.

This was a good book, I found it and enjoyed it. But being a 12 year old, I thought the sex was unecessary and made me uncomfortable.

An insight on coming to terms with being gay in the 20's

It must have been hell in the late 1910's, early 1920's, to finally admit, in one's early twenties, that one is gay. (Well, it's still not that easy now for all too many people.)
This is the autobiography of a very sensitive young man who found himself transplanted from France to live in the Southern US and attend the University of Virginia. (Quelle shock!) I found it an interesting and heartwarming insight on living in the South as well as coming to terms with being gay...and even falling in love.

This book has some excellent information about the end of the British Mandate and the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948, with special emphasis on the final few days prior to the end of the Mandate.
Still, there are some errors, here and there. And there is some extravagant language. Here are a couple of examples.
It is true that Britain was guilty of a terrible crime by stopping Jewish immigration to the Levant during World War Two. And after the war, sending the ship, the "Exodus" from Haifa to Germany was a political error. But was it an act of "barely credible crudity?" Maybe so. But I certainly would have used different language.
Now, what about the creation of Israel itself? This happened in spite of the slaughter of the European Jews, not because of it. But Cameron, rather dubiously, disagrees, calling the German Chancellor during World War Two the "Founding Father of the Land of the Jews."
Actually, the British White Paper of 1939 appears to have been the direct cause of the establishment of Israel. And certainly, Ernest Bevin's attempts to stop Israel from existing tended to backfire. But it is hard to imagine how Israel would have failed to come into existence had those six million people still been alive.
There was an ugly battle at Deir Yassin. And many have said that Jewish behavior was improper there. That could well be true. But Cameron calls it "a crude massacre that was bloody and shocking even by the brutal standards of the time, terrorism at its most savage."
That seems to go overboard, to say the least, especially given the Arab attacks that tended to be far worse and tended to be directed against Jewish civilians.
Still, I liked this book, and I do think that Cameron made a serious attempt to be fair.

The best behind-the-scenes account of the NAFTA negotiations. Cameron and Tomlin have meticulously researched and analyzed all aspects of the deal, based on interviews in all three countries. Moreover, the book is written in a readable, entertaining style. The only problem with the book - which is why I dock it one star - is that the theory looks like an add-on. It has little predictive value, despite the authors' claims, and attempts to fuse theories with sometimes conflicting assumptions. Nonetheless, the empirical work is outstanding.

At first I was a little apprehensive buying the book. However, when I got to browsing through it, I find it quite useful in terms of giving tips on how to survive an MBA program. I was already in my second year when I got hold of it. I sure wish I was able to read it before I started. Just the same, it would still be a great companion especially as I go through the core courses of the program. I highly recommend it to anyone planning to get into business school!

A fairly comprehensive guide to Southwest BC. I've been doing some weekend road trips from Seattle and this guidebook has been a tremendous help. The maps are easy to follow and the route descriptions have been accurate so far. My only complaint is that the majority of rides are under 12 miles (though many rides can be combined to make longer days). Still, there is a good variety of rides including ones for less advanced riders. For riders living in the area or heading up for a vacation/road trip this guide should prove a good investment.
