What a fun (simple) idea! It's a little photo album that looks like a purse. So you can take it with you on all your bad girl adventures. (Thanks to the cool handle.) I loved all the stickers at the back! "Nice Face" "Booty Call" "Bad Influences!" etc. I Bad-Girl-ized all my bachelorette party photos. And I'm giving it to my Bad Girl bridesmaids!

Girly photo fun

The things I like about this photo album are numerous. I like the fact that it has a handle, like a real handbag, so I can hang it on a nail in my lounge for people to inspect. I like the fact that both I, a self-confessed girly girl, and my sister, a tough army cadet, find fun in this album. I like that you get stickers to deface your photographs, but that you can peel em off if you really get sick of them. And I like that it's standard size!

I absolutely love this book. It touched on all the insecurities, fears, expectations and relationships that are an intrinsic part of following our inner guidance to discover our life path. I laughed and I cried as the story of everyday people, trusting their inner guidance in the face of many twists and turns, touched me deeply.

If you have ever wondered about being lead on a spiritual journey guided by intuition, spiritual guides and events brought together by all of the above, this book provides a heart-filled exploration of such a journey taken by the author. If you have had such a journey leading you to people and places in seemingly magical ways, this title will assure and confirm for you the spiritual truths and blessings found in such an endeavor. Pam Cameron presents a beautiful story, based upon her own experiences that sparks the imagination and the desire to explore your spiritual nature - on earth and through many levels of understanding. The lessons learned about cooperation and group dynamics are intriguing and revealing. Highly recommended for all who have or desire to walk the spiritual path here on earth. I thought the book was great. Even though Edward married Lindsay out of revenge it later turns to love and passion. Lindsay has a stepbrother who kills her brother, yet she doesn't display any emotions of hate towards him, she just tries to distance herself from him. She is an innocent woman through and through, and that is what draws Edward to loving her.

The book defitely has a twist in the end, which makes the book a good read. I wish Stella Cameron wrote more historical romances.

I just wrote a review for Cameron's newest 'All Smiles' and it got me thinking about the only book I have really liked by her. 'Only By Your Touch' has an interesting plot, interesting characters and a really wicked villian. Lindsey is extraordinarily beautiful, sweet and seeming independent. She has a big secret that colors her whole existence. Edward is extremely handsome and also has a big secret that drives him to be consumed with revenge. The big problem here, I think, is that these two beautiful people who are obviously wildly attracted to each other don't talk. Edward, of course, is mistrustful of love (where have I read this concept before?)and Lindsey is too wrapped up in her big sacrifice to let herself love.

Lindsey is so sweet and naive that everyone loves her. Edward is a cold fish with a bad reputation. (Is it deserved?) Lindsey is also a spirited girl so why does she let Edward get the best of her at times. Basically, though, she is really a neat character. Edward can be a insufferable tyrant at times and does not have a very high opinion of females (except his aunt). I would have murdered the guy and been hung before the conclusion of the book. Imagine him thinking he has suffered more than Lindsey because she is a woman! Talking between these two beautiful people would have solved alot of problems. But then it would half reduced the book by probably over half. Roger, Lindsey's stepbrother and a real nasty villian, was a nice touch. On that point, I can't imagine Lindsey allowing Roger to murder her real brother and not seeking justice. All in all, OBYT was an entertaining book. Cameron's best, I think.

I am currently researching Peru. This is one of the best books I have found. It covers all the key issues. The authors are insightful and discuss key points while being easy to read. After reading this book, the reader will have a much better understanding of what has led to modern Peru. Could not ask for more from a book!

Comprehensive & concise presentation of Peru

"The Peruvian Labyrinth: Polity, Society, Economy," edited by Maxwell A. Cameron and Philip Mauceri is a comprehensive and concise presentation of the Peruvian fundamentals. Moreover, the foreword by Cynthia McClintock and Abraham Lowenthal sets the stage for a pragmatic understanding of the many historial challenges in Peru.

The opening page of this valuable text explains, "Peru's problems began with the intensely traumatic Spanish conquest of the sophisticated Incan civilization...the problems continued with a humiliating defeat by Chile in the War of the Pacific during the late ninteenth century...and the problems were especially evident in the volatility of Peruvian politics during the twentieth century." To this end, since 1919...no Peruvian political regime...neither constitutional nor de facto...has endured for more than twelve years, according to the authors.

Without a doubt, the regime of General Juan Velasco Alvarado (1968-75) was responsible for introducing the most radical social and economic changes in recent Peruvian history. However, the sensational rise of Alberto Fujimori (a self-professed political outsider) from the ashes of the Peruvian party system and the "authoritarian style of rule" implemented by President Fujimori will naturally captivate the attention of many readers of this text.

Still and all, the dismal experience with President Alan Garcia will also generate considerable attention. Nevertheless, this special collection of tier-one academic essays will clearly demonstrate that Peru has a unique three-party system with a very strong center and two extremist tendencies on the left and on the right. This book provides an excellent overview of NLP and its clinical applications. There is a major problem though: the editing is terrible. By not being reliably accurate, some of the ideas and examples are hard to follow, and one is left wondering what else may be left out or is not communicated clearly.

Best NLP book

I absolutely loved this book. Mr. Lankton balances the theory of NLP with practical and useful descriptions of how to use NLP in therapeutic situations. I especially appreciated him examining many of the techniques of different brands of psychotherapy in the framework of NLP, enabling practitioners of various disciplines to notice that what they already do can be explained and enhanced by NLP.

And as an introduction to each chapter, Lankton narrates a story of a young man that aptly parallels the content of each chapter, so for a quick introduction or review of what goes on in each chatper you can read that section of the story.

This book is by far superior to many of the NLP books that have come out since 1985. It is superior in its logical presentation, inclusion of both theory and example (short transcripts), and its overall presenation such that the reader learns how many apsects of NLP fit and work together in a comphrehensive system.

Singular Images: Essays On Remarkable Photographs covers well over 150 years of photography, from Talbot's first negative to the latest changes in photographic art. Essays collect analysis of individual photos however, not the genre as a whole, focusing on a single image's achievements and exploring artist intention, technical and historical background, and the artistic community's response. Black and white photos blend with in-depth analysis to show what makes an achievement exceptional in the photography field.

A Feast of Insight into Human Relatedness & Separation
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2007-06-07
Cameron Power's "Spiritual Traveler" book is fresh, insightful, heartfelt writing at its best. It is a feast of wisdom and humanity such that one seldom comes across in literature; a true invitation to imagine, not only that our Middle Eastern brothers and sisters are "human beings too," but that perhaps we can benefit profoundly by availing ourselves of the wisdom and love that men and women in the Middle East so readily offer those who allow that they too have something amazing to share from the depths of their experience.

"Spiritual Traveler" is a powerful antidote to the corporate media and government misportrayal of the inhabitants of ancient and profoundly relevant Middle Eastern civilizations and invites us into recognizing that other people's human experience may be as rich, as loving, as human and as generous as ours - and that we can courageously and lovingly enrich our lives with others. "Spiritual Traveler" is full of enlightening insights into how the language which we use to describe others might also be limiting our experience of our earthly sojourn.

I recommend "Spiritual Traveler" without reservation. Read it and you too will want to open your heart to others in news ways, with new appreciation of the wonder that we are as human beings, as cultural participants, as lovers, as singers, as friends.

This book is not a polished piece of writing, but it is a heartfelt, sympathetic, and eye-opening look into the world of Islam, from the standpoint of a traveler and entertainer. He has discovered the way into the hearts of foreignors through music, and thereby shares with us a look at Islamic culture from the inside. He points out that any of us could do what he does, simply by learning a few bars of a popular song, and then singing or playing it - it's an automatic door-opener.

Pieces of Eight

Review Date: 2002-09-17
This is not a guide book for treasure hunters. What it is is an entertaining read. It details several stories of buried treasure from Cocos Island to Mahe in the Seychelles. Providing a good deal of background information on the area and characters involved in each story. Tantalizing details are presented, that almost make you believe that the stories might be true.

The reality is pirates didn't bury treasure, they spent it, some few invested it and retired wealthy, but the vast majority squandered their riches on booze and women. Never-the-less, the lure of money for nothing, just waiting to be dug up, will always have some pulling out a shovel and pick to go hunting. And let's face it, we all dream about it. P-)

I was once telling my Dad, a sea captain, how much I wanted to become a treasure hunter. The story of Mel Fisher was so compelling to me, all I needed, I told my dad, was a few million dollars to get started and some good maps.

He laughed and teased me, then, upon a return trip from Florida, he brought me this book, and old "treasure" map and some fake "tourist" treasure all to get me started.

I was completely fascinated by the accounts in this book. It is a couple of hundred pages long and each of the eleven chapters covers a different treasure. The book covers the history behind the treasure as well as accounts of people trying to find the various hoards hidden, it seems, forever. Or perhaps the treasure was never left behind in the first place, but the idea that "some" of it may still be there is enough to make any treasure hunter feel a bit driven to want to go and see for themselves.

This book is history and story, it is not in any way a guide to go looking for treasure nor do the authors give encouragement to the reader that if they are lucky and resourceful they might make history themselves. But for anyone interested in the history of some great pirate stories and modern accounts of treasure hunting, or for dreamers like myself, I recommend this book. It is fun and well written.
