The book is beautiful, fun to browse, and leaves you with some mouth-watering ideas. The recipes are easy to prepare, and reflect the style of the whole south, not just Georgia. Steve Charnovitz produces penetrating articles about international trade and global governance at a rate that is difficult for even the most dedicated scholars and analysts to keep pace with. Fortunately, he has put many of his collected works of recent years together into this valuable volume so that they are easily accessible both to newcomers to his work and to long-time readers. Although Mr. Charnovitz is an ardent defender of the benefits of free trade, he is also deeply concerned with issues of environmental and labor protections. As an analyst, he has been unusually successful in bridging worlds that often do not speak or listen one another. He also brings to his writing a deep grounding in history, which reminds readers that many of the issues we think of as unique to this era of globalization are actually trends and phenomena that have been on the minds of policy makers and scholars for many decades. I strongly recommend this book to anyone trying to understand how we can imbed today's increasingly global economy with a deeper and stronger commitment to environmental and social values.

Over many years Steve Charnovitz has written a dizzying array of articles and essays on international trade law, in particular its relationship to other areas of policy such as environmental protection. This book brings together many of these works and provides an excellent overview of a range of cutting-edge topics in trade law and policy. International trade law is no longer the province of lawyers: it is an issue that, from Seattle to Geneva, increasingly inspires popular passion and protest. As usual, Charnovitz brings great insight and comprehensive knowledge to many of the most burning and interesting issues in this field.

The van der Meer Dossier explores a an alternative reality, including a dystopic America, altered by an accidental visit from the future. I greatly enjoyed reading this book for several reasons.

First, I enjoy learning history through stories, and this book allowed me to delve into revolutionary America and gave me a sense of life in those times. The reader also gets a sense of the culture and technology of the modern navy.

Second, the book really forced me to think about how different historical forces shape our modern culture both at a national and international level. A tyrannical American state and different roles for France, UK, China, Israel and others are all possibilities explored by the book. This forced me to think about what forces I believe have been most influential in shaping these societies - and whether the events of the book actually would have led to the outcomes described.

Third, I enjoyed the diversions, romance and humor of the book. I probably shouldn't give too much away, but I found it quite entertaining.

An alternative history scenario leading up to a modern version of France as the global superpower, which completely dominates North America, and rules by an extreme form of Islamic law. And what a stinging endictment of this scenario the story is. Wow!

I highly recommend this audio book. Too bad it isn't provided in a CD format but hopefully that will happen. In the meantime, these are audio cassettes and well worth purchasing and listening too. The information can also be found in Julie Cameron's book "The Vein of Gold" in the chapter on Kingdom of Sound. BUT the toning information from Tim Wheater and his demonstration and voice and description can only be found in this wonderful tape. I think he offers an easily, understood and down to earth reason and description of "toning" and it is a very good way to learn about this practice and to practice it yourself. This product is well worth the money and time.

Just ordered 4 more copies for friends.

Great source of material and ideas!

Review Date: 2004-10-06
This is a terrific source for selecting your next "love song" to sing, or play on the guitar or piano.

My daughter is a 15 year old singer. There are many songs here that she may not have considered singing because she had never heard of them, as they date from before she was born. This helps broaden her selection base. The book includes recent songs also.

There are 100 hits that range from 1965, The Righteous Brothers "Unchained Melody" to several from 2001 like Alicia Keys, "Fallin'" and Sade's ""By Your Side". And lots in-between from the cutesy 1970 Partridge Family hit "I think I Love You" to the rockin' Cheap Trick "I Want You to Want Me" number to the classic Roberta Flack, "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face".

The book includes songs from female artists like Madonna, Shania Twain, and Toni Braxton, male artists like Barry Manilow, Peter Frampton and Andy Gibb, and groups like the Bangles, Guns N' Roses and Poison. There are also several duets with artists including Neil Diamond and Barbra Streisand's "You Don't Bring Me Flowers", Sonny & Cher's, " I Got You Babe" and Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes,"The Time of My Life".

The price is very reasonable too. For around $4.95 a pop I can purchase sheet music that I print myself over the web or buy at the store. Or for the price of 5 songs I can purchase this bound book with 100 songs!

The book is thick and oversized. If you need to copy a song from the book you will want to use legal size paper.

VH1's "100 Greatest Love Songs" lists the year of each song which makes it interesting. What were you doing in 1998 when the Goo Goo Dolls "Iris" was a hit. Do you recall one of the top hits of 1984? (Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time") The book also ranks the songs from 1-100 with Whitney Houston's 1982, "I Will Always Love You" claiming the top spot and Poison's "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" at 100.

Hopefully in the future they will have another book and my daughter, Jessica will be in it with a top song!

Lots of good songs for your $!

In response to what two individuals are saying about myself and my books I would like to share with you what many others have said to balance out their unsubstantiated claims.

* "Why is Everybody Always Picking on Us? explores the roots of prejudice. I don't think I've seen another book like it. How wonderful if this book could be used in social studies classrooms! I have learned where prejudice begins, how it is created, how it is perpetuated, and how it can be resolved. This book looks at stereotypes, bigotry, discrimination, scapegoating, racism, and more. It is a wonderfully comprehensive manual for young people and adults alike on understanding our conditioning and the root of prejudice."
