Distinguished historian Joe O'Callaghan makes an invaluable contribution to current discussions in the Catholic Church over
episcopal leadership. His book examines the history of how bishops are chosen to make two important points. First, the present
dysfunctional system in which all decisions are made in Rome is historically conditioned, not ancient, and so it is open to
change. Second, there were many benefits to the early church's far more participatory process, and there is a lot for today's
church to learn from those earlier practices. This is an attractive but factual account that supplies the kind of solid information
we need to cut through the ideological biases usually exhibited in discussions about this topic.

Very highly recommended to all poetry lovers, Fiction is an outstanding collection of Conor O'Callaghan's most vivid and conceptual
poetry. As a long-time poet, and perpetual student of the universe around him, O'Callaghan's poetry buries itself deep into
the skin of the reader, creating an upheaval of enlightening, life enriching and thought- provoking realizations only found
in such judicious body of work. Fiction: None of this is true./We're still all/we crack ourselves/out to be.//I haven't laid/our
he rafters/in a plot/with my loose ends.//You're not miles away./The slow numbers/were never/swayed alone to.//I don't blame
you,/smiling in the mirror/at a face/you've just made up.
Firearms Law Deskbook: Federal and State Criminal Practice

The leading legal manual of firearms caselaw and regulation.

The Deskbook is intended primarily as a reference manual for attorneys doing firearms cases; the book's price reflects that
fact that it is a serious technical publication for professionals. Indeed, any attorney attempting to try a gun control case
may well find himself intellectually outgunned by an opponent armed with the Firearms Law Deskbook. But I think the audience
for this book can be significantly larger than just attorneys. For all the attention paid to the Constitutional right to keep
and bear arms, much of the gun litigation in the modern United States does not involve broad Constitutional theory, but instead
deals with interpretation of the federal gun control laws. If you want to understand these gun laws in depth--and to understand
how courts have interpreted these laws--the Firearms Law Deskbook is an indispensable resource. The Deskbook, after summarizing
court decisions and scholarship regarding the Constitutional right to arms, deals with topics such as the federal Gun Control
Act of 1968, BATF inspections of gun dealers, property forfeitures under the gun control laws, how the Congressional power
over interstate commerce has been used as a basis to expand and (recently) to limit the reach of federal gun laws, and "assault
weapons." Anyone who is interested in machine gun policy will find the extensive discussion of the National Firearms Act specially
useful. Indeed, anyone, including firearms dealers, who interacts with the federal gun regulation bureaucracy will find the
Deskbook a crucial resource in helping to decide when regulators are acting within their lawful powers, and when they are
bluffing or bullying. The chapter on "Entrapment and Due Process" should be particularly frightening to anyone who cares about
traditional American liberties. The chapter clearly demonstrates that gun control laws, like other laws regarding victimless
crimes, often lead to serious abuses of Constitutional rights. Review by Dave Kopel, Independence Institute, http://i2i.org.

I've read several books concerning Biology and this by far is the best of them all. One The thing that makes this book stand
out from the other biology texts, is it's easy to read feel. While most biology textbooks offer standard information about
the subject, this textbook takes a more informal route. Mixing past information about how certain biological findings came
about with detailed explanations of biology, Morton gives the reader a deeper understanding of the subject. The book also
gives analogys and easy to decipher explanations that give you a better understanding.

I can't remember how I came to have this book, but I know there is no way I could live without it now! It is my family meal
planning and cooking bible, and I swear by all of the recipes. I love the way each recipe gives the breakdown of servings
from the Canada food guide as well as suggestions for accompaniments to round out the meal. The best part of the book is
that all of the recipes are quick to prepare and cook. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for fast, delicious
recipes...the fact that they are healthy is a bonus!

This set of books is the definitive word on trandemark and unfair competition law. It is regularly cited by courts, and relied
on by trademark atty. including me. If you want to know anything about trademarks or unfair competition, here is the place
to look. But look at a current or updated set, not one that's 10 or more years old. Jim Hawes

used it a lot in my graduate renal physiology class.

O'Callaghan's Documentary History of the State of New-York, a four-volume work published 1849-1851, was strong in genealogical
records of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. But this fine work was hard to use for it had no name index.(this book
has a 50 page index)
This present work has all of the genealogical records in the O'Callaghan work, but it adds a complete index of names. Prepared by Roseanne Conway, the index lists about 12,000 inhabitants of colonial New York--Dutch, English, and German.
The following is a representative selection of lists of inhabitants in the work: Male Inhabitants of Ulster County, 1689; Army List, 1700; Census of the Counties of Orange, Dutchess, and Albany, 1702, 1714, 1720; Census of the City of New York, 1703; Inhabitants of Hempstead, 1673; Inhabitants of Flushing, Southampton, and Southold, 1698; Long Island Rate Lists, 1675, 1676, 1683; Census of King's County, 1698; King's County Militia, 1715; the Palatines, 1710-1714; Inhabitants of New Rochelle (1710) and East Chester; Freeholders in Ulster County, 1728; Lists of Quakers and Moravians, 1755-1756; Miscellaneous Lists, 1738; and Inhabitants of Gloucester County, 1771.
