Before I read this book, I had never really been a fan of horror, but as I began to read this book, I found it compelling and very hard to put down. It is an easy read, at times hard to swallow, because of the graphic depictions of gore, and violence. After reading this book, I was unable to sleep at night, for fear that Bedclothes, one of the characters from the book was going to come and take me away, as I slept. The pages of this book are full of wonder, horror, blood, death, love, and everything that a person that likes horror will love. If you like to be scared and entertained, then you should read this book, it will enlighten you and surely entertain you. Wes Caldwell is definately the up and coming new master of horror.

My Opinion on the book "A Prologue to Love"

Review Date: 2008-03-16
"A Prologue to Love" by Taylor Caldwell is by far one of the best books I have ever read. The book is about a poor girl who lives in a shabby house with her two nursemaids whom are paid a meager salary by the girl's father who is one of the richest men alive. The girl, Caroline adores her father who destests her because she looks like his deceased father. Although Caroline is far from beautiful, one boy Tom sees her inner beauty and the two instantly fall in love. Caroline's father eventually ends up taking her away from the only home she's ever loved and the only people who have ever loved her because he is having an affair with Caroline's mother's twin sister and she insists that Caroline get a better education. Caroline's father starts teaching his daughter unknowingly to be more like him, a penny pincher and turns a sweet innocent girl into what most people consider a heartless woman. But unknowingly to the public she's not heartless, just scared of being poor after an incident in a cheap store. In the end, Caroline and Tom are wed and have children but it's too late for Caroline who can't show her true feelings and ends up getting left for her cousin Melinda. It's a great book for anyone who feels they're misunderstood. It's a way to feel as if someone actually understands who they are. Taylor Caldwell truely captured the true essence of people's actions in "A Prologue to Love" and you can actually hear the people speak and feel their anger, sadness, happiness, and depair.

Stunning in its scope. An excellent companion for "The Road to Serfdom." If you don't already know/understand Hayek, don't waste your time. Tedious and time consuming, it is difficult to consume more than 10 to 20 pages in one sitting. This is no page turner. It is so dense that it is as if Niels Bohr or Albert Einstein explored economics instead of physics.

Now in a fully updated and expanded second edition, "Reading Assessment: A Primer For Teachers And Coaches" by JoAnne Schudt Caldwell (Associate Dean of the College of Education and Leadership, Cardinal Stritch University, Milwaukee, Wisconsin) is part of The Guilford Press educational series 'Solving Problems in the Teaching of Literacy'. Professor Caldwell provides classroom teachers and reading coaches with the information and tools they require to engage in the complex process of assessing the reading skills and needs of students. Practical strategies are provided for assessing students' strengths and weaknesses with respect to their literacy; how to properly analyze the evidence gathered through observation and testing; and making appropriate instructional decisions accordingly. Of special note are the sections devoted to new tools for assessing early literacy, guidelines for choosing among these options, high-stakes testing; and alternatives to standardized measures. Enhanced with numerous illustrative examples, professional development activities, and reproducibles, "Reading Assessment" is a critically important instructional guide and should be a core part of professional and academic library literacy testing and instruction reference collections.

Of all the books I had to read in college on literacy, this one is the most helpful and the only one I keep in my classroom as a reference. It clearly explains normal literacy development and disects the problems that arise. PRACTICAL strategies to help struggling readers and writers and abundant. It's not a quick read, but if you work with struggling readers and writers, you'll learn a lot from this book.

As a prior student who used this book in my principles class in undergrad (I now have a masters in the subject), I learned so much using this book. Now, as a professor using a different text, I dream of a book this helpful to my students!!! I use this book to prepare my examples to use during lectures.

This is a book about two twin brothers both on the same soccer team who in the begining fight from the time they get up till the time the go to bed. One is sort of close to God and they other wants nothing to do with Him. Slowly through the book they change. In attidude, soccer skills, and relationship with God. At the end of the book, both desperatly wanting to see each other after a situation on the field arises. But both are afraid of how the other one will react.

I thought this was a good book. It shows that you should be thankful that you have a sibiling. Even when they do things on purpose yet not realizing what could happen.

I think that this is a great book for anybody who lives in Caldwell. It shows a lot of the towns history. The book also contains great photos of the town in the early 1900's.
