This title is handsomely presented, with rich illustrations and commentary. I was frankly amazed at the thoroughness of the book. Crafts, as well as folk art, are covered along with the fine art pieces. For anyone interested in art in the south, this is a great book. For those who actually live in Tennessee, they will have probably seen some of the pieces represented here---whether it be a painting at the Hunter Museum of Art in Chattanooga, TN or one of the many post office murals.

I saw this book in the library and was so impressed I had to have a copy for myself. It is well worth the price.

Young Coldwell Dunlap left his home in turmoil filled northwest Missouri to fight for "Southren Rights" in Stirling Price's Missouri Guards. It's the journey of a lifetime, through harrowing battles of Lexington, Pea Ridge, Vicksburg, and Kennesaw Mountain where he is greviously wounded. This book is a moving, personal story of war and it's maturing of a young man. Well worth the read!

Finally, someone who actually knows something about gangs and their prevention has written something to help teachers and parents deal with this problem. "Ask Nicky" provides an superb source of material for classroom study sessions that actually involve the student not just lecturing them on the "right" thing to do.

Again, an excellent book and well worth every penny.

Until this book, I thought I didn't like poetry. So I was skeptical when I started reading Francis and Donna Caldwell's little gem AT SEA. Yet, as I read a bit more each day (yes, it was on the rack beside the head), I came to really feel what it was like to work and live on the ocean.

The poem and story NIGHT WATCH are worth the price of admission by themselves. Here's part of it:
"Seafarers patiently stand,
Wary of eye, wheel in hand,
Peer compassionately across the void.
And feel the kindred spirit,
That all seamen always feel,
As their ships pass in the night."
The poem is haunting -- but then you MUST read the story behind it. Francis's matter-of-fact recounting of a horrendous winter trip down from Alaska to Washington State is amazing. How anyone survives these conditions is incredible. Yet Francis does that and, sleep-deprived and shell-shocked, WRITES A BEAUTIFULLY HAUNTING POEM(!) -- simply proving he is a masterful creator.

There are great photos throughout by Francis and Donna. I like the size and hardcover -- making it the perfect small gift for anyone's restricted cabin space.

Francis has written a dozen other books -- all highly recommended.

One of the great things that Ryrie points out in this book is that the Bible does have apparant "problems" within the text. By that he means that a person looking for errors to discredit the Bible could probably find many ways to attack the bible. Biblical inerrancy is a matter of faith. When you trust that the bible is free of errors, you understand that what might seem to be a contradiction can easily be explained with a little extra study. The Bible is error-free, and all of the 'apparant errors' claimed are based on people's desires to discredit God and His Word. Ryrie makes that case very well, especially for the lay reader.
I recommend this book to the Christian looking to strengthen his/her faith.

Unfortunately many bible readers miss one of the greatest truths revealed to us by God. The return of His Son is truly worth knowing and a defense for the literal 2nd coming of Christ to a literal Israel is worth noting. Yes Jesus reigns in our hearts but He will also reign on his earth. Ryrie silences the critics with Historical truth. Historical figures, events and early beliefs which can not be altered. All we have to do is look back at History and see how the Spirit of God moved. I praise God for this book. Short but very informative.

Becoming an artist is a thorough book with the addition of many exercises, it really did help me progress my singing so that my performances improved!

This book have lots of nice artworks and diagrams in every page.

Contents is very easy to follow.

It teaches about rules, simple plans and tactics.

A good starting point for an absolute beginners both kids an adult.

I purchased the five volume Excellence in Singing set, and they work wonderfully altogether! This first book is perfect when beginning to learn about the fundamentals of singing and the different issues within your voice. It's a great book to start out with.
