Byrne Books

OK, I am not a lawyer nor a law student. I am just a guy who decided to "fight city hall" (well, the State, really) and, in the course of this, learned a heck of a lot more about contract law, administrative law, statutory construction, court procedure, etc., than I ever thought I would.

Along the way, I discovered the Restatement (2d) of the Law: Contracts. Well, this is the text of _that_ (including examples, which are essential to understanding nuances, the main points, etc.)...so it is the actual restatement without the many volumes of case citations to specific sections (which is really important for actual briefs/args in your jurisdiction, but carrying around all of those volumes...well, just get this, instead! ;-). If you are learning contract law, this is a _great_ reference. It is a great size to carry around--unlike the multi-volume, full ed'n...--and this is really important.

It also has a nice binding which appears to be reasonably durable.

I really enjoyed this book... it gave a lot of logical and interesting information, and presented many different Bigfoot experiences and viewpoints, with the reasoning behind each. Lots of nice photos (although not many pictures of Bigfoot), too.
P.S. This book is great, but please keep in mind that it was published in 1960, so it is almost fifty years old, and thus some of the information in it may no longer be valid... for example, don't bother trying to call the "Bigfoot Research Center" by dialing the telephone number in The Dalles, Oregon that is listed in this book --- I already tried calling that number some years ago to ask about the latest findings or projects, and while it still was a real number in the area of The Dalles, it evidently was not the number for the Center anymore (if the Center even still exists)... when I called, I just got an answering machine message with a child saying something like, "Hi, we can't come to the phone right now; please leave a message", so the number is apparently just a private family residence now, not anything having to do with Bigfoot... hee hee, I wonder how many calls that family still gets per month from people wanting Bigfoot information?

I had heard a lot about "The Secret" transforming lives, but I had not yet come across the book or DVD (neither of which would fit into my busy schedule). The audiobook was just perfect for my commute to and from work. It's inspiring. It packaged up a philosophy I was familiar with from a variety of teachings--mostly Edgar Cayce--into one fluid, accessible product. Edgar Cayce said all this stuff over 75 years ago--a nice reminder that "thoughts are things" and "your life is what you create it to be." Since "The Secret," mine's getting better everyday!

This is a great book with art and story by the amazing John Byrne, whose name is synonymous with She-Hulk.

The book really takes advantage of the prestige format size and uses the large panels to great cinematic effect, featuring a few dual-page spreads of the mass destruction scenes.

Of course there is plenty of the "eye candy" that Byrne is famous for, but it's his characterization of Jen aka She-hulk that really makes the story fun as the adventure moves from militaristic action, to sci-fi to horror seamlessly.

The person I bought it from included a note stating: "I've had this in my collection for a long time, cherish it." And I think I will.

The Slab Boys look at a group of young adult Scottish pigment makers in the 1950's. Their heros are James Dean and Elvis. The boys get into all sorts of trouble while trying to avoid work. In between the foolishness each of them tries to address his own fears for the future growing up in a working class depressed neighborhood.

A great play for young actors (freshmen or sophomores in college).

Butch Cassidy, thought to be dead by friend and foe alike, encounters Charlie Siringo, an ex-pinkerton who chased Cassidy's gang 20-years ago, meet in Hollywood and are soon bound for the deserts of Mexico with a beautiful Victoria Hartford and ther film crew. They come face-to-face with Pancho Villa's revolution in one of the greatest adventures of thier life.

An elaborate melding of careful research and lively invention bring Butch back alive.

The product arrived within a reasonable length of time. It arrived in good shape. The publication was professionally done and has been very interesting and helpful to me.

Starting With Stories by Pam Schiller and Pat Phipps is a pre-school teacher's guide to engaging multiple intelligences through children's books. The 100 books selected are considered among the best for helping pre-schoolers delight in stories and also learn other skills such as vocabulary and sentence structure, rhye, alliteration, onomatopoeia, visual recognition of upper and lower cas letters, and understanding the many ways in which print communicates. Each double page illustrated spread describes the child's book recommended, tells what the skills the child will learn are, and suggests special activities to follow the reading of the book. Learning acitivites include art, discovery, gross motor development, listening , math and science, and thinking about what was read. This is a very good guide to help anyone working with pre-schoolers.

"Staying on top and Keeping the Sand Out of Your Pants" is an uplifting, enthusiastic self help book that breaks the mold of this genre. The authors and artist mix humor, witty cartoons, inspirational quotes and paradoxical messages stirred briskly with the ocean metaphors of surfing. As a recovering, 12 step type beachbum myself, I found the enthusiasm and writing style to be motivational for me. The concepts of change and embracing uncertainty are woven into the text which inspire the courage to act. Living fully in the present is a message self help gurus embrace everywhere. This book brings that point abundtly and with vigor.

Absolutely brilliant! I was looking for something to win my 3 young boy's attention and I found it! A fun, short, easy to follow story with amazing characters that bring the story alive. Not only did my boys love these new exciting characters, who are unlike any other we have seen. They learned how to count with money the fun way! The Sterling's has been read many times over by our whole family and friends. Now my boys, family and friends are looking forward to collecting more sequels.
