WOW! GREAT! AWESOME! WONDERFUL! FANTASTIC! There are not enough one-word adjectives to describe this book!!! Extremely well-done, Adrianne...as usual.

'Feel the Fire', the third book in the Unforgettable series, picks up where 'The Beautiful Ones' left off, and tells the story of a heart-broken Jonas Hinton and his journey in finding "Ms. Wright".

Coming behind the success of 'Unforgettable' and 'The Beautiful Ones', 'Feel the Fire' does not disappoint. Continuing in the same interesting way of story-telling as the first two books, Ms. Byrd takes the reader on a passion-filled 'Harley' ride to happily-ever-after. Sparks fly between Jonas and Toni and the chemistry between the two is so amazing, you are not going to want to put this book down and when you are finished, you're going to want to start all over again!

Both Jonas and Toni have issues that they need to deal with, but 'Feel the Fire' is certainly a story of "a funny thing happened when I wasn't looking..."

I am definitely looking forward to the next one!

She has fas become one of my favorite authors. Her books always deliver. I actually haven't read the pre-quels for this novel, but luckily she included enough info for me to get through it. The characters were funny and relatable. He was initially being driven by his need for revenge against his ex, while she was just a hard nosed lawyer trying to get her private practice off the ground. There was passion, humor almost everything I believe an romantic novel should have.

Feel the Fire indeed!!!
In this book when get to catch up with the characters from the Beautiful Ones. Jonas was left at the alter and really hasn't healed. Jonas plans to seek some "revenge" on Solomon the man who took his bride away thinking that this will put him on the path to getting over Ophelia and then he can truly heal. The revenge plot doesn't heal him. A woman by the name of Toni takes care of that. Toni on the ohter doesn't "do" relationships and she keeps Jonas at arms length but of course that doesn't last for long. The sparks fly between these two Toni and Jonas were HOT together. One word MOTORCYCLE. Run to get this book! You will not be disappointed!!

When a book appears on the same Newbery Award shelf as: The Island of the Blue Dolphins, Julie of the Wolves, Number the Stars, Dear Mr. Henshaw, Sounder and and other classics, one sits up and takes notice because it means the best in children's literature. This recent addition to the honour roll, made up of narrative poems reminiscent of The Canterbury Tales, gives the young reader a real sense of what daily life was like in the Middle Ages.

A few of the monologues deal with complex topics which may require some adult guidance to guarantee comprehension. For example, in the story told by Simon, the Knight's son, the Crusades are mentioned, which are a key to understanding his story. To familiarize the young reader with this intricate historical episode, the book provides a two page summary of the Crusades crammed with many facts and more in the margins. These summaries have been inserted beside the half-dozen selections dealing with the more difficult topics, but may serve to further confuse the reader with fact overload. Topics like the Christian attitudes toward the Jews, Pilgrimages, the Crusades, and Feudal customs, call for some direct teaching and/or guided research to assure comprehension. In short, they will need to be explained to most children. The majority of the narratives, however, can be read independently. The stories in this fine piece of historical fiction are the right stuff for engaging reader's theatre.

Truly excellent!

Winner of the 2008 Newberry Medal, Good Masters! Sweet Ladies! was actually written to be performed. Laura Amy Schlitz has written here a series of interconnected monologues and dialogues which, taken together, depict the life of kids of all kinds in a medieval village. There's the Falconer's Son, the Blacksmith's Daughter, the runaway villein, the Young Lord, The Pilgrim and The Sniggler, all of whom help complete the picture.

I found my beauty in this book.

This review is more on a personal note, than an explanation of what the book entails (the other reviews have got that covered!). As a newly natural black beauty - I was still struggling with others perecptions of me and my "new" (e.g. natural hair). And of course - I was struggling with my own perceptions of beauty as well. This book allowed me to finally see that our hair is a unique source of pride that needs to be flaunted - not "fixed". Something shifted for me when I read this book, and I finally was able to own not only my new hairstyle (a budding 'fro) but to love my hair in its natural, uninhibited glory. Black women, regardless of our hair texture - straight, wavy, curly, kinky, nappy - we are all so wonderfully beautiful! Hallelujah - I FEEL SO FREE TO BE ME! This book is a must read - share it with every black woman you know - and encourage them to teach our children and our men how to live a life that says "black is beautiful". Spread the knowledge to people of other cultures as well! God bless!

This book is great begining for people that are redescovering themselfes aftermaking the decision or are trying to decide wheter go natural or not. It helps you to understand how we got here , how black beauty is not well accepted and why. It make you wonder, questionning yourself and others, and in my case keep learning.

If you don't already know, this book is definitely worth the time that it takes to read. The book goes into detail about the history of Black hair. Prior to slavery, Africans took pride in their hair. The intricate braid designs date back to that time. It wasn't until after the slave trade that hair straightening became common. Also, it's a little known black history fact that Annie Tumbo Malone was the first black woman entrepeneur to market black hair products. Madame CJ Walker actually worked for Malone before going into business for herself. This book chronicles so much history about Black hair. After reading this book, I was really encouraged to stop chemically processing my hair.

A Must-Read for Black Women Everywhere

I've recently made the decision to go natural and as I did, I pondered, "Why do I have to 'decide' to be the way I naturally am?" It was then that I realized how unfortunate it was that black women, more than half, find their "naturalness" to be unattractive. I myself have gone through hair extensions, braids, and the dreaded relaxer that has damaged my hair and scalp for years. Now I wonder what it was all for. I wasn't being true to who I was.

This book helped be to know something that I should have already known: my hair. The history of black hair is one that is very interesting and telling. I learned more about my hair in this book than I have ever learned, even from members of my own family. There is also a sense of confidence one gets from reading books like these. I am letting all of my friends and family read it as well.

You will not be disappointed in your purchase.

Even tho I enjoyed Unforgettable more, this is still a good story on the 'best friends become lovers (at last)' plot.
For some reason I never empathised with the heroine I thought she could not see the obvious and the hero well what took him so long? But as always it all worked out in the end. There were some funny characters Selma, Uncle Willy and Jonas, (hope he hooks up with Toni Wright), deserve their own stories.

I have waited a long time for this story and I must say the wait was worth it. Ophelia & Solomon was meant for each other from the beginning. It seem like everyone around them notice except them even Solomon uncle knew it. It was really nice when both of them stop playing games with each others and face the fact that they were in love. JONAS! What can you say about him, except that he has his own story in the making.

The Beautiful Ones is Ophelia and Solomon's story. In this brilliantly written sequel to Unforgettable, Solomon learns of Ophelia's engagement to Jonas Hilton. As her lifelong friend, he should be happy for her. Yet, how can he be happy when the woman he loves is marrying another? Solomon wishes desperately that he had revealed his feelings for Ophelia, but now fears it is too late.

Ophelia should be thrilled. She is engaged to a wonderful man. Why can't she stop thinking about Solomon? Do his feelings for her run deeper than friendship? More importantly, do hers?

I highly recommend The Beautiful Ones. Adrianne Byrd has delicately woven a moving and compelling story. It is breathtaking, and leaves us to remember that you sometimes find love where you least expect it... right in front of you.

I teach 6th grade and one of the things we learn about is rocks. I bought this book based on the reviews, but after reading it I felt compelled to write one too. I try to get my students excited about rock collecting. This book is so simple, yet so inspiring. It begins by saying "I'm sorry for kids who only have tricycles, bicycles, horses, elephants, goldfish, three-room playhouses, fire engines, wind-up dragons and things like that - if they don't have a rock for a friend." It then goes on to list 10 simple rules for finding your rock...not just any rock. A rock that you will keep forever. The rules include where to find your rock and remember "You should choose your rock when everything is quiet. Don't let dogs bark at you or bees buzz at you." The book concedes, "Don't get a rock that is too big. You'll always be sorry. It won't fit in your right hand and it won't fit in your pocket. A rock as big as an apple is too big. A rock as big as a horse is MUCH too big." This is the perfect book to get your rock collectors started and excited about geology.

I loved this book. As a matter a fact I think this whole series was great. I think the girls' antics were hilarious. Peyton and Linc are a very cute couple and I think the concept for this story was verrrryyy different. I had never read a story that involved the gay brother pretending that the love interest was his boyfriend. What can I say they're just whacky.

I am not going to bother to tell you what the premise of Ms. Byrd's book is about because you can read the other reviews for that information. Most of which are accurate.
The reason I am writing a review is because this book was an easy and very entertaining read. Not juvenile. But fast paced and imaginative.
She holds your attention because her characters are always doing something. They are never boring and her plot is active and imaginative.
The love scenes are provocative and romantic which makes you want to be the female character of the story.
This is the first book I have read by Ms. Byrd. I have decided to read the sequel, 'When You Were Mine.'
Keep up the Great Work Ms. Byrd.

They had the brother on blind dates before he could heal and he felt his only way out was to move way. GOD BLESS HIS HEART. But, I guess sometimes you just have to face the truth and let what happens happen. You have to top this one.I want to know what happens with this crazy bunch.

This is about Peyton and Linc... Linc is also friends with Peyton's (Gay) brother Flex... of course both Peyton and Linc are unaware of this, which leads to a whole bunch of misunderstandings which makes you laugh out loud! This was an enjoyable read, filled with just enough passion between Peyton and Linc and some nosey sisters. Just one more thing to add, I recommend all books by this author and Niobia Bryant!

Now, if you know me, I love my romance with drama novels right??? Well in my own personal opinion "Defenseless" by Adrianne Byrd has got to the best of all of her works that i've read so far. This book kept me on the edge from start to finish. You want to talk about twist, turns, surprises, Sonya & Dwayne took us on plenty of them. The road to the end of the book was a nice wild ride that anyone who enjoys drama with some romance will just love it. While Sonya & Dwayne are trying to save her sister from prision they are left in a state of wonder as to why things are happening to them at everyturn they take. This book will keep you on your toes and engrossed in the book, not even wanting to go to bed!!!!

A girfriend of mine recommend that I read this book, and I have to tell this book was so good. From the time I picked this book up I couldn't put it down I tell you the book will have your on the edge of your seat wondering what is getting ready to happen next. The suspense and romance in this book is great. Now I tell in the beginning I wasn't feeling Sonja , but she started to warm up to me but it took a minute. Sonja was a independet woman who felt that did not need any help or a man, but shr soon learn that she was wrong. It took Sonja some time to learn and trust men since your had seen so much abused in her parent marriage and her sister. Sonja tried to help her sister but some lesson your just have to learn for yourself, and that is what Laura had to do.The moment Sonja and Dwayne met you knew they were destined to fall in love. Dwayne is one of the top Lawyer and of course in the beginning Sonja had some run in with Dwayne which was all her fault. Smile. Laura was in trouble and in need of a Lawyer and Sonja friend and co-worker Sharon brother just happen to be a Lawyer and guess who the Lawyer in up being my man Dwayne himself.

Can't give to much of the book away but you will love it.

What would you do if your spouse or significant other, who you believed dead for several years, suddenly reappears on your doorstep -- alive and in living color -- wanting to pick up right where you left off?

That's exactly what happens to Madeline Stone. When her cheating husband Russell's plane crashed, it was good riddance to bad rubbish as far as Madeline was concerned. Russell's brother however, refuses to give up hope. And after six years, the impossible happens...Russell is alive, a little worse for the wear, but alive nonetheless.

Needless to say, Madeline is skeptical that he is who they say he is. She's not happy at all to see the man who caused her so much heartache. But, it's been said that tragedy has a way of changing a person, and Russell is one changed brother! He's loving, caring, the perfect father and husband, and he's very determined to tear down the walls Madeline has built around her heart.

I absolutely loved this storyline! The unexpected twists throughout the story really threw me for a loop, and really enhanced the book.

Whenever I pick up an Adrianne Byrd novel, I know I'm in for a treat. Her characters are always endearing. And even though romance novels are formulaic with regards to the fact that the couple at the beginning of the story will be together by the end of the story, Byrd consistently manages to throw in little surprises that make for an engaging read.

This book is a breath of fresh air. The plot was really intriguing and kept me on my toes. Maddie, Russell, and the kids were such a cute family. He was perfect with the kids and perfect with Maddie. The twist and turns in this book were really good. I could not put this book down because I wanted to know if that was really Russell. I could tell that Christopher really loved his brother and his death really changed him. The scene in the book when everybody first met Russell and his eyes immediately went to Maddie was creepy but good (lol). In reading the last few chapters of this book, my mouth was wide open in shock the whole time. You will not believe.

Okay, so this one is going down as one of my new all time favorite romance novels. I wasn't so sure about this one because I've been stuck on reading either Brenda Jackson or Beverly Jenkins. But I decided to put them aside and read one of the many Kimani Romances that I haven't read yet. I'm glad I picked this one. The story line was so well written, and just the way "Russell" and Madeline meshed was so beautiful. Adrianne Byrd did an excellent job with this one. Hopefully she'll continue to write this way. Adrianne Byrd has taken me to a whole new level with her book "Controversy". She takes you on a wild journey of a sister who is a known prankerster and is familiar with overnight stints in jail for some of her pranks. Now she is ready to celebrate the divorce of her husband with her sisters. Which in turn lands them in some very wild type of situations. Lies and Love....does it mix??? There's an off the hook twist in the novel. Let me tell you, when I say my mouth hit the floor, it hit the FLOOR!!!! LOL Adrianne also uses some unique names for the Adam sisters. Michael (main character), Sheldon, Frankie & Peyton. Yep, ALL FEMALES!!!

The cover of this book totally hooked me. Handcuffs and a sexy black man! But this story was so well written and so unexpected! Adrianne Byrd has written a winner! In Controversy, we find Michael Adams, the queen of revenge schemes, is in trouble. The police think that she killed her ex.
Police detective Kyson Dekker knows the last thing he should do is get involved with a suspect. But there is a difference in knowing what's right and wrong and doing the right thing. There are more twists in this book than a wild ride at Six Flags. And just when you think you got it all figured out--BAM--another twist. Giving it away in this review would do a disservice to everyone because this book is a MUST READ!

With each book Ms. Byrd get's better and better. In this one we meet another Adams sister. We meet Michael who is newly divorced a slighly bitter and wants to get back at her husband but of course it's all talk or is it? And this is where the funny, hot and crazy story begins and Ms. Byrd takes you on this ride and leaves you wanting more. Did I mention funny. Those Adams sisters can get themselves into some mess LOL! And of cours there a point where Ms. Byrd tries to get you with the tears. You get to catch up with the rest of the Adams clan and meet the sexy dective Kyson. Definite recommendation!

I thought the 4 authors did a wonderful job of pulling all the stories together. I especially loved the story by Rochelle Alers, since I am such a fan of hers anyway, I knew this would be good. The stories all gave lines of busines that you normally wouldn't think of African Americans dealing in which in itself was a nice foray from the norm.

There are four enchanting stories which will enhance the real meaning of the season and the blessing of miracles.

"Shepherd Moon" by Rochelle Alers tells of Rhianna, a young woman who fled her hometown when her fiancé was killed in an automobile accident. The face of his twin brother was too painful a reminder of what she had lost. Ten years later Rhianna returns home because of a family illness and runs into her fiancé's twin brother and also her past. Now Rhianna can bring closure to her loss and accept the real reason she fled Shepherd, New York.

"Wishing on a Starr" by Adrianne Byrd shares the turmoil seventeen-year-old Gia suffered when she became a widow and a single mother in a matter of months. But Gia never saw her daughter, her aunt saw to that. The loss of her child forced Gia to leave Talboton, GA for New York City. Almost fourteen years later Gia still longs for her child and wants to do something about it. In a crowded department store, Gia bumps into Daniel Davis and his thirteen- year-old daughter, Starr. There is an immediate attraction between the two, and an answer to a wish even Gia could not have imagined.

"Blind Faith" by Kayla Perrin revisits Andrea and Mark, a couple who ended their relationship because Mark was snubbed by Andrea's parents. Years later Andrea's family has fallen on hard times, but Mark has excelled and is an entrepreneur. Their chance meeting is cordial but strained, still Mark is intrigued. An impromptu visit, a near fatal accident, and some blind faith are what Mark needed to propel him past his hesitancy about capturing his holiday miracle.

My favorite, "A Christmas Serenade" by Janice Simms, brings a world traveled concert pianist back to his roots in Charleston, South Carolina in search of himself. The best friend of his deceased mother welcomes him with open arms and southern hospitality. But this motherly matchmaker offers Jack so much more. She shares information about his parents and tapes of performances by her daughter, Callie. Callie is also a pianist, a blues singer and a magazine editor. When Callie and Jack meet the holiday suddenly feels and sounds majestic. But Callie is afraid that the difference between their respective backgrounds may be a problem.

THE SEASON OF MIRACLES is a Christmas Anthology filled with promise and hope. Grab a cup of eggnog, get comfortable on the couch and experience the joy of holiday love. This one will delight the heart.

There are times when you read a book at just the right time in your life and this is one of those books and times. Hurricane Katrina took so much away from Biloxi MS, but more than anything material, it took away the hope and spirit of so many, myself included. The holiday season started out so bleakly and I admit that I just wanted it to be over, but when you have children you know you have to find the strength to make it as wonderful as possible. It was a struggle until I read A Season of Miracles. I started the book and before I knew it I could feel myself smiling and just feeling good about everything. This book made me believe in miracles again but most of all the miracle of a better tomorrow. It makes you feel so good inside and you cannot help but feel a little sad when you come to the last page, as you feel as if you are leaving behind friends you have come to know and care about. This book is a miracle in itself and one which I will read over and over again.
