Some years ago I've read this book from Ms Butler. I was captivated by her amazing imagination and quality of her prose and
became instantly a fan of the author. This first impression was corroborated as I read more of her writings.
Unfortunately for us, her fans, Ms. Butler has recently passed leaving the "Parable" trilogy unfinished and I'm sure many delightful stories unwritten.
She was a highly talented writer and won Sci-Fi Hugo and Nebula awards.
All her books showed a rich mixture of imagination, multifaceted and interesting characters and conflictive situations to test their mettle.
"Wild Seed" is a complex story about Doro and Anyanwu, two extraordinary beings, their encounter and relationship expanding over three centuries.
I refuse to say Doro is a male, he may acquire any physical nature, so I think the character as a Self, and each reader may assign he/she/it any attribution. This trait only, is enough to arouse many questions and situations, other writers may stick only to the rich action line. Octavia didn't, she dig deep into each character, giving them soul and flesh, going into what they feel, their ethical (or unethical) considerations, their whole conception of life, their struggles for power and love.
All this blended in an inspired story full of action.
This is very commendable book for sci-fi buffs and general public too.

I've never seen another book which covers in such detail the content of this book. Not only does this book do a wonderful
job of giving you ideas of where to find wood for your projects (outside of purchase from a commercial outlet), the author
also details the processes for cutting, drying, and preparing wood for working. It's a shame it's out of print; such an
excellent resource would be invaluable to anyone who has an interest in woodwork.

This facsimile edition enables us to trace Yeats path in creating and correcting his work. The present volume contains the
poems, Byzantium, and Coole Partk 1929. It also contains the 'Crazy Jane' poems. In those poems the feminine character is
the mask through which Yeats is able to explore many of the themes of Love and Violence which long obsessed him. I do not
particularly love the 'Crazy Jane poems'. They seem to work on a simpler, less musical level than his greatest poems.

When you consider the box office gross for a gross piece of trash like "There's Something About Mary" or "American Pie" or
"Scary Movie," it is enough to make you wonder if anyone is capable of producing intelligent, gentle humor anymore. I really
don't think so. (P.G. Wodehouse is dead.) ...But there are over one million books selling better than Wodehouse's collection
of Jeeves stories. Why is that? Could it be because Wodehouse stories don't have fart jokes and people [having sex] on any
available piece of furniture? Perhaps. Instead, Wodehouse has created and peopled a world that is slightly askew but very
recognizable: Bertie Wooster, the good-hearted lunkhead who is forever finding himself in a scrape, Jeeves, his butler,
and the mastermind who extricates Master Wooster time and again, and a supporting cast of delightfully eccentric and colorful
charachters: Aunt Agatha, Cyril, Bingo, Claude and Eustace, Honoria Glossop...the list goes on and on. Mr. Wodehouse's command
of English, allusions to everything from the Bible to Shakespeare, and sparkling dialogue make his stories a thoroughly
enjoyable read for anyone. Turn off that VCR, tear up your Blockbuster card, and buy this book. You will find it much funnier
than anything currently coming out of Hollywood.

This thought provoking collection offers pedagogical practices for the classroom and supports them with theory. The first
reading of the book inspires writing instructors and tutors by presenting exciting ideas for teaching and tutoring writers
in a multicultural setting, while the theory introduces concerns that teacher's should consider. Readers will want to keep
the book for handy reference when they need a reminder about the benefits of diversity in writing classrooms and centers
or need a tip for enlivening their multicultural classroom.

This book was great. It is a expose of Yeats evolution from a writer to a better writer to a Master over a span of time.
His critiques of peers and his approval or caustic distain are wonderful. For me he brought to life the very real fairy tale
world which the Irish lived in the 1800's. I recommend it to all. It is a bit heavy at times but in some places his sentences
reveal such a love for his subject that I consider it to be as poetry. I guess I can only compare some of these passages
to the first chapter of the book Hawaii written by James Michner.

Dr. Gorski is a great writer and professor of literature! I would recommend this book to anyone interested in learning more
about Yeats or broadening their own literary horizons.
Does this mean bonus points for me? *grin*
