A very good book on big game hunting and life of Bill Butler

I grew up knowing Bill Butler and his family, we grew up in the same small town. We always knew if there was a big buck in the location if you would see Bill's pickup park beside the road. Bill is a very ethical hunter and has a great respect for the animals that he harvests. Some people think that hunters are out there just to kill something, but through Bill's book you will find that he portrays what most hunter are and that is someone who cares about the animals they pursue. The book brought back many fond memories of my youth when I grew up in the same area. I am proud to say that I know Bill. -Bob Guenthner

Nobody has made these connections before. The author has found similarities in the lives and writings of authors not usually considered similar. Her analyses of the works are fresh and valid. Daniels shows these works to be true literature of the world.

Voices of Love / Voices of Marriage

These are two charming eclectic collections of love poetry, on CD with accompanying books, which really ought to be purchased and reviewed together. The 10 actors, all talented, also present a varied lot. Each poem and each performance was enjoyable, some romantic, some funny, some thoughtful, some sad, ranging from modern to one written in the 3rd Century and all in between. Many of the poems were a surprise and the very fact of their inclusion was enchanting, for instance Simon Prebble's charming rendition of The Owl and the Pussycat, a poem whose acquaintance I made 50 years ago and which remains dear to me, on the Voices of Marriage CD. I reacted differently to each poem, to each actor, and to each performance and would assume that most listeners would also have highly personal reactions. There were many poems I was especially delighted to hear, as they were old favorites, others because they were newly met ones. There were two actors I found irresistible, whose every performance was wonderful: Simon Prebble, long a favorite, and Michael Wager, new to me. Most of the others were also superb. There were some who were decidedly less entrancing, however each actor did at least one poem no one else could have done better and every poem can be enjoyed as it was performed, on its own merits. The more I listen, the more I find to enjoy, even including the order in which the poems are presented. In all, this is a wonderful idea.

A beautiful tribute to Wisconsin
Helpful Votes: 17 out of 17 total.

This book is beautifully written and illustrated. It includes many interesting tidbits about everyday things, such as Kleenx, vitamins, and the Ringling Bros. Circus. I've lived in Wisconsin for most of my life and still learned a lot from this book. It is perfect for a Wisconsin history course, or for a child doing research on Wisconsin for a school project.

The pictures are beautiful watercolor collages that make me homesick. In each picture there is a border with the names of towns in Wisconsin that correspond to the letters (ie W is for Waunakee, Waukesha, Watertown, etc.) and each printed letter is shown with its equivalent in American Sign Language.

This book is a beautiful tribute to Wisconsin!

Recently stopping at Shannon Duty-free, I found this beautiful
book. The words of Yeats and the photos of Le Garsmeur combine
to transport you to another time, another place...and where else
would you rather be than exploring that Emerald Isle with its
famous bard? Turn off the TV; put some Irish music on the stereo;
pour a glass of red wine and sail away. I guarantee you'll be
planning another trip to Ireland after this experience.

A beautifully done book. The pictures are adorable and the story of animals in the forest waking up is done with a repeating meter the children will quickly pick up on. I teach pre-school and bought this book for my preschool children. It is sure to become a firm favourite.

WHAT THEY SAY...
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2006-08-31
Widows tell me they were encouraged by just knowing someone felt the same things and understood. Singles tell me they are encouraged by someone who truly understands, opting to wait on God. Men tell me they had their priorities wrong and this helped them; by changing priorities, "things" started to move in their lives. Women thank me for encouraging them to be submissive to Jesus and not to a human husband who is under God.

I did not write the book, but it was my hands on the keyboard; it was inspired by the Holy Spirit!

My message: Get to personally know God and let HIM USE YOU. I guarantee you will be blessed!
