Faithful sermons. Critical thinking.

This collection of sermons has something for any Christian/seeker reader. I'm about to finish it, and I have grown immensely with it as an aide. I wish the book would not end. Through I am 26 years old, the contributors speak with the Spirit from Christian perspectives through which all people (not only young people crossing into adulthood) can find growth. This is faithful, intelligent, and thoughtful Christianity at some of its best in the American mainline Protestant tradition. Read it. Pray and reflect on it. Most of all, share it with someone else.

What a wonderful book!!! Haven't we all wondered what good things the future will bring? What's next for our love life, careers, or health? Well I was, and found Crystal & Gemstone Divination an extraordinarily powerful book to teach the casting of stones and the reading of their messages for me.

I really like the style of writing which is warm and clear, with step by step instructions, beautiful photographs, quick sidebars for fast information, and a glossary. Chapters include the history of gemstone divination, how to make a gemstone bag, each stone's photo and it's properties, and the stones relationship to the Tarot cards. Also, the balancing of your chakra, dreamwork, forecasting, how to conduct readings for others, and much more.

This is such a beautiful and thorough book that I'll be able to use it over and over again as any good reference book. Worth every penny!!!

A clearer perspective

An easy read that explains the book of Daniel from a different perspective.

By demonstrating that the main theme of Daniel is true worship, the author relates the prophecies to a clearer perspective of today's kingdoms.
Many previous books written on the prophecies of Daniel have tried to identify the nations that fit the descriptions in Daniel's visions. While boundaries of nations are ever changing, the authors have suggested possible (probable) scenarios of how the world today fits this end-time prophecy.
The author exposes the reader to a non-traditional view of modern Christianity and biblical truths.
Based on sound research, the book of about 150 pages is written in a very readable style.

PG to the LC lays out a definitive look at those known as Low to their Highborn brethren. Have you wondered what the Nos do when they are in their tunnels, or why they became the Sewer Rats, you will find your answers here. Wonder how cool the Gangrel must have had it in a time where cities had not yet taken over? Its all here.

All of the LC get special attention, new Combination disciplines, and new merits. The player tool boxes are helpful starting points for a character in that clan, and can point you in interestng directions.

In the end, if you plan to play DA Vampire, you should have this book. Even if you are not running a LC character, the information gathered here is invaluable.

Another homerun for Matt McFarland and company!

Great Firsthand Account of the Indians of the Old Northwest
Helpful Votes: 8 out of 8 total.
Review Date: 2002-05-13
David Zeisberger was a Moravian missionary who immagrated to England's North American colonies in 1740 and became one of the first white men to live among the Indian tribes of the Old Northwest. He spent many years living among the Delaware in western Pennsylvania and Ohio, founding the famous "Praying Indian" towns at Salem, Shoenbrun, and Gnadenhutten in the years just before the American Revolution. Zeisberger worked tirelessly to convert the Indians to Christianity for many years on the frontier when it was a hostile and dangerous wilderness. This book is translated from Zeisberger notes made while living among the Delaware in the period 1780-81. They describe in great and accurate detail the lifestyle and culture of the Indians. It details all aspects of religion, hunting, social structure, foods, medicine, clothing, etc. of the Delaware and the eastern woodland tribes in general. It also gives an overview of the flora and fauna of the Ohio Country in the years prior to white settlement. "History of the Northern American Indians" is a valuable piece of 18th century literature and should be read by any student of frontier or Indian history.

Let us be dead!

Some years ago I've read for the first time a book from Ms Butler. I was captivated by her amazing imagination and quality of her prose and became instantly a fan of the author. This first impression was corroborated as I read more of her writings.
Unfortunately for us, her fans, Ms. Butler has recently passed leaving the "Parable" trilogy unfinished and I'm sure many delightful stories unwritten.

She was highly talented writer and won Sci-Fi Hugo and Nebula awards.
All her books showed a rich mixture of imagination, complex and interesting characters and conflictive situations to test their mettle.

This trilogy is not an exception to Ms. Butler production. You may buy all three separate volumes "Dawn", "Adulthood Rite's" and "Imago" or have them all in one book: Lilith's Brood. Whatever your choice is you won't be disappointed.

The story is as follows: Humans had self destroyed in a crazy war but miraculously an alien race, the Oankalis, came to the rescue and save millions of them.
The Oankalis traveled eons and genetically mix with other alien species, evolving each time with the exchange; they are a three gender race.
Humanity should be grateful...yet there is a major problem, Oankalis sight produces an overwhelming rejection reaction in human beings. This is a true xenophobic symptom which is very difficult to overcome by subjects who get in touch with the aliens.

Is it possible to overcome this? Ms. Butler shows all possible reactions through the characters of her novels. Oankalis also have mixed reactions to Humans they are uncertain on how to handle them.

"Dawn" focuses on Lilith one of the countless human beings that are awakened and exposed to Oankali's contact.
Lilith battles courageously to overcome her apprehensions and relates to different members of an Oankali family: Jdahya, Nikanj and Kahguyaht.
When she is prepared she burdened with the overwhelming task of awake a large group of humans and trains them to survive on Earth in a wild entourage.
Deep conflicts sprout and are treated with masterful hand by the author.

This book is high science fiction stuff!!! Do not miss it and continue reading the next two parts!

Teens who love supernatural thrillers will find Death of a Ghost Birth of a Nightmare most pleasing: Ossian returns to an old house with his artist father and finds his childhood fears returning, along with memories of hauntings and strange events. Tension is well done and builds delicately through a spiderweb of plots and subplots in this fine haunting, chilling tale.
