Master Politician of the New Nation

This is the first short history of the Washington presidency to appear in almost thirty years. The last, by Forrest MacDonald,
argued that Washington was a figurehead president and that Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson actually dominated the
administration. Warren - formerly an editor of the presidential series of The Papers of George Washington - takes the opposite
position. He successfully argues that Washington was the central figure of his presidency. The book takes up each of Washington's
major accomplishments as president: the creation of the presidency, the settlement of the nation's financial crisis, the opening
of the West, the estblishment of the capital city, and the preservation of peace at a time when the Western World was being
consumed by war. This is one of the most thoughtful, beautifully-written books on Washington I have read. This would be
an ideal book for a college or advanced high school class to read, and should interest any reader of American history.

I know that the secret service is now going to come after me for saying so, but this is the funniest calendar I have ever
seen. Our local library has one on their front counter and after reading several pages during our visits, I am buying one
for our house! This is poking fun at our dear President's unique speech patterns, so supporters beware! But, you know what,
it's funny as "H-E-double-hockeysticks"!

Concentrates on Undeclared Wars

This book should really be titled 'Presidents at UNDECLARED War.' During the years since the founding of the republic, the
United States has only been in five declared wars. During those same years the United States military forces have engaged
in more than two hundred armed conflicts. It is not a new thing, Wikipedia says: 'The first United States military action
overseas, executed by the U.S. Marines and Navy, was the storming of Derna, Tripoli in 1805 in an effort to bolster diplomatic
efforts in securing both the freedom of American prisoners and an end to piracy on the part of the Barbary state. The opening
line of the Marine's Hymn, From the halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli, refers to this action.'
This is a very interesting book in how it looks at the conflicts fought since World War II. It covers not the conflict itself so much the interaction between the President and Congress. It further raises interesting questions about how Congress acts in these cases. For instance in the vote regarding Iraq, Congress voted 77 to 23 in favor of the Iraq war.
With the current dissatisfaction regarding Iraq, it will be very interesting to see what happens, especially if the Democrats gain control of Congress.

My son age 4 loves to play these cards. He has fun and he is learning the presidents and things about them all at the same
time. He can now name the first 12 presidents and some of their vice presidents from playing this game.

This book was the recommended text for an MBA course I began, and I approached it with some apprehension. I was very surprised
indeed. The collection of writings that the editors have brought together are fresh and easily read, the contributors themselves
have a writing style that is not heavy or hard going. It is a very enjoyable read, and the chapters are "stand-alone",
each being able to be read as separate studies. This book is well worth reading by those looking to move into middle management
in schools.

This is an inspiring book and blueprint for restoring the values of American culture that we hold so dear.
What makes this book especially interesting is that Jeb Bush co-authored it before being elected Governor of Florida and he has followed through with the principles expressed throughout this book. I found it uplifting, and it gives me hope that we can make a difference to our country by showing character and electing those politicians who also have it.

This book has more than the funniest of George W. Bush's "unquotable" quotes. Even if the vaste selection of phrases from
his serious (and not so serious) speeches is enough to keep you laughing and remembering the President's best and worst, this
book doubles the enjoyment by adding the author's witty, sarcastic, and great humored comments to each quote. Additionaly,
this book offers an original short biography, a compilation of the best Bush jokes, and some great personalities' opinions
on the President. The creative wordplay for each of the chapter's titles, as well as the artwork, also make this a fascinating
book to read, reread, and to quote! You can even compare Bush's ramblings with Clinton's own Rants and Raves and have a great
presidential debate! JA!

I think that this book is really good if you are into seeing good pictures of the band. There aren't really too many in depth
stories of the members of the band, but they have some little stories here and there. The book is really meant so that there
can be pictures to look at of the band. The book is really good and it is a great thing to get if you are a Bush fan.
