In times of trouble, there's got to be an answer. The author was trained by the Lord to hear Him through his lifes experiences,
in his ministry as a book salesman. He heard from the Lord (It was not an audible voice) where to set up his trailer to make
a good profit. If we don't listen to God's voice, it can cost us dearly. Because Charles W. Bush learned this lesson, his
life was saved one night, from being killed by poisonous gases. Learn this valuable lesson for yourself.

Having read every one of Audrey Howard's book and enjoyed them all, I have to list this one as one of my favourites.
The main characters, Alex and Christy, are so real and true to their times. The twisting plots, wonderful secondary characters all came to life under Audrey Howard's masterful talent.
I laughed and cried reading this book. The powerful ending left me speechless.
I heartily recommend this book.

I found this book very hard to put down once I began reading it. I liked the main characters in some chapters and yet was
disappointed in others, but overall they turned out as I had hoped. The female character, Christy, I admired, as she fought
against all the prejudices shown to women in that time as well as managing a family and taking on tasks which she had not
been prepared for but I also admired Alex as he had different battles to fight. This is definately a "just one more chapter"

Dr. Cavazos gives us a vivid explanation of the reasons that politics gets in the way of educational reform. A man of integrity,
he refused to bend to the demands of party politics. His emphasis on parental involvement, early preparation for schoolwork,
and yes -- bilingual education -- have outlined a course of action we should all adopt. Cavazos is bilingual from his earliest
years. While he notes the importance of the Spanish language for its cultural roots, he emphases that English is the language
of our country.
I give this book my highest recommendation.

Dr. Cavazos' story was most inspiring and also entertaining. As he wrote of his days growing up on the King Ranch I could
almost feel the dusty wind blowing in my face. His story just shows what anyone can achieve in this country. Having a great
pair of parents and other role models just makes it easier. This country got where it is with the help of all the immigrants
into our country and this book demonstrates a part of that.

It has been said that this is the most important presidential election ever, and if that is indeed the case, then this book
by Dr. Thompson is the most important book to read prior to the election. This book is extremely well written and flows nicely.
You will be astounded by the information that you learn about the Bush Presidency, information that you can use to determine
your vote.
Please read this book prior to the election...it will be money and time well spent.

As a mom of three young kids, "Mastering Motherhood" was encouraging. Most of my instincts went against what parenting magazines
were suggesting, and I was wondering what was wrong with me! While reading this book, I found myself saying, "I thought so!"
all the time. This book had a lot of common sense, practical suggestions, and good examples. Plus it had some challenges
and ways that our family can improve.
I felt stronger and less 'alone' as a parent after reading "Mastering Motherhood". I'm going to save it for my daughter!

Barbara Bush explains so easily what every mother has worried about. Questions like: Should each child have the same rules?
What sort of discipline is appropriate for a two year old? What sort of discipline should I use for an older teen? What do
I do about grandparents or teachers that favor one child above the other? As a mother am I using raising children who will
be well adjusted adults? What about working outside the home? These questions and so many more are explained in a concise
biblical and personal way. This book is a very practical guide to harmony in family living.

Having read this book twice now, I have come to understand the how's and why's people have this need to affiliate with either
political party. I think most Americans are moderate's who are conservative on some issues and liberal on others. I wish
more of my fellow Americans would read this book and try to understand that neither party has the best interest of the voters
and that there is nothing wrong with being an Independant which would at least help keep the politicians a little more mindful
of who they cater to. This is a book of ideas which goes beyond the normal bashing of political parties. For those of
you who are "my party right or wrong" types this book will educate you and help you understand that the world isn't black
and white but many shades in between.

Mr. Bradley has a great way of breaking down very complicated political concepts into a very easy-to-read, and sometimes even
fun, book that really helped me understand my own political philosophy. I've always wondered why I wonder -- do I have my
dad's political views or my own? I'm 45 and I think Mr. Bradley's book gave me my own direction for the first time in my
life. I can now sift through the media-chosen snippets of what they say is important to get at what really matters to me.
This book will be on my gift list for young and old friends and family. Thank you, Mr. Bradley, for sharing this insightful,
clear, and concise tool for everyone. I figure if enough people read this book and demand change, the politicians are going
to have to listen to us!

"I tell you this because when I picked these berries I never dreamed I would be speaking at a college that would someday rise
up in view of where I knelt in the dirt. It was beyond my imagination, But here I am sharing with you some insights I have
accrued since those days in the Strawberry fields..."
Jeanne Wakatsuki Houston, "A Tapestry of Hope"
"One cannot escape one's ancestors, the shouting within us, and voices strewn across the drowned landscapes of our souls. We all swim that landscape together; us and the dead around us, except now the dead are not so afraid of the truth, and are tired of the silences they taught us so well."
Carolyn Flynn's "The Shouting Within Us"
"At that moment I understood my father more. I understood his anger and his crying; I had thought it was because of hate, but it was not. It was because of the heartbreak of my grandmother's life. Because at that time in our country, an intelligent woman became nobody, but an old woman who used to work in the banana fields. And she was not the only one; in fact, a whole generation of Taiwanese were wasted, and now nobody remembers them."

I found the book fasinating especially from a immigrant point of view. The hardships, aspirations and dreams so valued from
previous generations and the correlations to current immigrants. There lacks an economic impact comparative to previous generations
and a lack or comparison of a puritan work ethic implied or a philosophy of a new found loyalty to a country that supplies
the life blood of a new age family, but the points are well made and reads as a sincere point of view from the immigrant point
of view. Very well written, and gets the writers points of view across. It would be refreshing to see the socio-economic impact,
positive or negative related in the collection, but this does not appear to the writers intention. I commend the writer for
the boldness, honesty, and compasion throughout the collection.
I would recommend this book based on the writers collection of events that translate to the concerns of all citizens. The writer is articulate in view and has taken great care of letting the reader decide what moral decisions and implications are present in our view points in the current social environment.

I see that this is now out as a reprint and inasmuch as I just finished reading an original hardcover, I am glad to see it
is being made available to keep alive the incredible story of Noel Wien and his pioneering of bush pilot flying in Alaska.
To those of us who fly in modern airplanes with marvelous instruments over well laid out air routes with accurate maps and GPS's, the stories of the exploits of Noel Wien and others in the early days of flying in Alaska read like fiction.
To begin with, Alaka is down right inhospitable to airplanes, especially airplanes in the 1920's. The hardships and problems of operating an open cockpit aircraft in that environment would be enough to discourage all but the most resolute and most talented pilots. Just living in Alaska in those times was only for the rugged and adventurous.
The author has told Wien's story in a most readable way which will leave you shaking your head at his experiences and difficulties, yet filled with admiration that there was a man so filled with the spirit of adventure, courage and talent that he stood head and shoulders over those that followed him, both as a pilot and a man.

This book is one of my favorites. I am buying another as I have worn down the original paperback that I found in a used bookstore.
The book follows the life of Noel Wien from his beginnings in rural Minnesota to his eventual ownership of the largest Airline
in Alaska. If you are a pilot or if you are an aviation afficianado, this book will appeal to you. The stories are very
readable and the writer does a great job of making them storylike. He ties Wien into Alaska's history, especially the early
days of aviation.
