Lots of high gloss images mixed with mirrored and frosted papers. This is a slick book full of color. I am not very familiar
with Marilyn Minter though so I can't comment on the selection of work. This book turned me on to the artist!

This book has everything -- mystery, murder, turmoil, and edge-of-your-seat intrigue. History, skillfully interwoven, adds
depth and lightens apprehension at just the right moments. The main characters, Jack and Lisa, team up to overcome the forces
of evil that are out to control the world, while their sexual tension and ensuing romance offer a touch of anticipation in
their otherwise dark adventure. This gripping thriller leaves the reader longing for the sequel.

A nice violin solo/piano accompaniment book

This book is not for beginners, but it is close. When the music goes out of the 1st position, beginners can drop down an
octave to keep playing. There is no CD to play along with, but there are still some beautiful songs and violin parts. The
piano accompaniment part is also not beginner or too simple, but my son is able to work it out and play for me anyway. A
nice book to be able to play some pretty songs in church.

With all of the A/G books out there on ethics this is the best. There is no better way to see just where they stand on *most*
ethicial topics. This book is a good read but the authors bias keeps comming through the scripture.

While this book is called a narrative, I believe it was written by Harold Womersley, as told to Harold by W Burton, and many
of his family and friends.
You can always find a good book written on the events in the life of a missionary, yet this book is a particular favourite of mine, because W Burton inspires you to put as much into each day that you can.
It did not matter what trial he was going through, whether he was believing by faith to not get Malaria without taking medicine while trenching through the worst affected areas in Africa in his time (he succeeded), Whether it was losing his 2 children on the mission field, and burying them there; whatever this man went through, his accomplishments each day never cease to amaze.
He preached and pioneered 100s of churches. He trained more preachers that came out from England, as well as the locals. If those who came out to Africa sought to pioneer as Burton did, and he found they could not learn the language in 6 months, he sent them home. Strict? Yes, yet he was loved by the locals. Burton was not only a preacher of the gospel, but an accomplished painter, also proving to be a geologist, drawing maps in areas unmarked on paper before. Some of those maps are still used to this day, they were so accurate.
If you can purchase this book, you will treasure it, and never want it to part from your library of books.

Self-Evident Truth Demands Call to Action

Calling for new moral leadership among Black Americans, the St. Louis graduate scholar challenges all Black clergy to reject
complacency in the pulpit regarding personal and collective moral responsibility. Instead, Burton advises fellow clergy to
courageously embrace their true freedom and power which comes from God, not only from soliciting politicians.
"Our population stands at 36 million and data shows that 80% of Black Americans claim religious affiliation that is overwhelmingly Christian. Yet statistics show that we are the robbery kings and queens of America, the undisputed leaders in murder internal and external. We are light years away from our moral state of say, 1963."
Burton points to the current moral decline as a cataclysmic trend that undermines not only Black America's foundation of marriage and family, but also their power and influence as a societal group.
While he recognizes the negative affect the popular media has on Black culture, and constantly eroding educational standards, Burton explains that even churches have contributed to the decline. His Moral State of Black America analyzes the ineffectiveness of the Black Church to engage and influence contemporary culture.
"Black clergy and leaders must reject prideful victimology, and celebrity-centered prosperity messages. Our historic struggle as Black Americans does not give us a license to sin!" Burton writes.
Burton also says of "hip-hop intellectual" Michael Eric Dyson, "for all his vast scholarship, Dyson cannot accurately define the African Americans' moral condition. Neither is he prepared to offer any viable solutions to the vast challenges facing the poor, excepting a massive subsidy. Even Dave Chappelle has addressed the most likely outcome of such a scenario through his comedy."
Burton, 36 and a student at Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, MO concludes, "We must show the world another great work by Christ Jesus, as Black America's intractable problems get solved, and many who doubted the power find it irresistible."
Key topics covered in The Moral State of Black America also include: "Media and Cultural Propaganda", "Marriage and Sex Devalued", "The State of Black Clergy", "Morality by Numbers", "Education", "Law and Order", and "The State of the Individual".
Overall, a good read, well-thought out, plus research to back up what he writes.
