It's nothing fancy, but it's a good review of biology for if you need a supplement.

Michael Adams has taken a complex medical issue and made it understandable for people with limited medical training. His use of diagrams and graphics is flawless. What was once a mystery is now explained visually in a manner that makes sense.

Climatic change has a profound effect on the distribution of animals and plants. for instance, between 1850 and 1950, a period of climatic amelioration, Britain gained several new species from southern and eastern Europe, including Collared Dove, Celti's Warbler, Savi's Warbler, Firecrest and Golden Oriole. The situation has been further complicated by the "greenhouse effect", with northern and southern species "invading" Britain. This study traces and explains the changes in bird distribution in the Northern Hemisphere, with special reference to Britain and Europe, relating them not only to climatic change, but also to other environmental factors.

Jack is an incredible bird; trusting a human from the start, he seems to understand that the author only seeks to help make his life more comfortable as a completely blind creature. How he became blind isn't known. What is discovered is that he knows his flock by the sounds they make and his relationship with the author becomes strangely flock-oriented as she becomes his food-provider, friend, and ultimately, a member of his flock. An amazing story of trust, bonding and friendship - this isn't something you want to miss.

Burton (a nineteenth-century expert on Eastern and Arabic scholarly issues) presents here a wonderful translation with footnotes explaining customs, the derivation of certain words, and other minutae. His introduction is thorough and appropriate and his storytelling retains a good rhythmic quality. His devotion to his subject cannot but be admired, and his care in translating all of the stories without abridgement is fabulous. By far the best edition of Alf Layla wa Layla that I have ever encountered.

This resource guide is a "bible" if your planning a wedding in Portland, Vancouver or Salem. It has hundreds of reception sites by capacity, area and price. I couldn't have planned my wedding without it.

My son and I used this book during a unit study on birds. We checked this book out at the library and ordered some owl pellets for an activity.

The book features great photos of barn owls from baby to adult.

Also included in this book are a glossary, activity list and discussion questions. Lots of learning packed into one fun book.

This book is totally crammed with tips, anecdotes and practical advice. Not just a quick, easy, entertaining read, but also a workbook with practical exercises that if you actually take the time and effort to do, are amazingly effective.
I have to admit that I'm not a fan of the Dummies genre, as to me they seem a bit condescending and perhaps lacking in depth, but I'm now a convert. I just could not believe how much was packed into this one volume. It's much more than the title suggests.
