Beautiful little encyclopedia

This comprehensive field guide is essentially a short encyclopedia of North American wildlife. I have given it 5 stars on that basis. It is not an ecological treatise nor is it a substitute for detailed descriptions and discussions of individual species and subspecies but, as a handy field guide, useful for much of North America it is up to the job.

The plates are in both color and black-and-white and are very good as is the text which describes the animal, habitat, short description of habits, diet, range and similar animals. Present are mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fresh and salt water fish, and some invertebrates. A good buy for the money.

This field guide is a non-fiction guide.Which is a resource that you can learn from. This guide teaches you all the different types of animals and plants. For example mammals, birds, reptiles, amphbians, insects, and marine mollusks.
The book explains their habitats, where the animals and plants live. This book also gives fascinating facts about plants, animals, and even fungi. For example did tou know that the only animal that can turn its stomach inside out is the starfish!
The book has over 15,000 color photographs with explantions.I recommened it to people who love to learn about nature.I really love this book because I learned many new things. This book would be useful for people who love nature and learning about all the different kinds of animals and plants we share the world with. The vocabulary is challenging for kids.I recommend you have a dictionary handy when you're reading it at home.

This book is lavishly illustrated with full color photographs of several species on the right of each page spread. The facing page gives a brief description of each species including its size, habits, habitat and geographic area of the US in which it is found. I was surprised to find that, in addition to birds, mammals, amphibians and reptiles, the book also covers fish, plants, and insects. It is great for the amateur naturalist who just wants to find out what kind of lizard or owl he/she saw on a hike. There is not a lot of information on each animal because that would make the book too heavy to lift (it is a field guide after all)! And of course some varieties had to be left out, for instance, with hundreds of kinds of spiders in the US they could not show all of them and kept it down to one page. I was a wee bit disappointed not to find a large caterpillar that I had hoped to identify. Someone who was particularly interested in one type of wildlife might want a second guide to expand on, for instance, butterflies or wildflowers. Overall, it is an attractive and helpful book to have on hand to identify wildlife.

Once again...I loved it! As in the first book there are twist/turns to keep you reading. Also, I like the new characters that were brought into the novel. I love Greg and Cynthia and the love that is blooming. So not only do you get murder, mystery you get love. What more could you ask for.

This book is my favorite in the series so far (haven't finished Illusion of Luck yet). The story was great and the characters were just delightfully twisted! I loved it! Keep up the good work. Can't wait to finish Illusion!

This is the second in the series and I really enjoyed how this book was tied to the first. Its characters seem like every day people and how they solved the cases were great. The first time I read the book I read it chapter by chapter on author's website. Now I have a copy of it. Thanks again for another great book in the series. I highly recommend it.

This is the most comprehensive book I have come accross describing all the aspects in one's job search. One will find valuable information in regards to the job search: learning (or finding out) about oneself, defining both personal and professional priorities, self-marketing aspect of the job search, outplacement services, recruiting and networking efforts, interview process approach and salary negotiations. Book is a gem and it gives very valuable reference material information on other books valuable for job seekers and professionals; as well as inventory of reputable recruiting firms and other useful information. Must have book!

Incident At Pittston Crossing: A Civil War Adventure is a novel based upon events of history. The commander of a single company of 1,000 Union infantry must confront a 10,000 man Confedrate invasion force charged with sacking a Northern city and withdrawing before an adequate defense can be raised. A hair-raising and dramatic saga of the horrors of war and the individuals who put their lives on the line to defend what they held dear, Incident At Pittston Crossing brings its sweeping tale to life with vivid language and unforgettable portrayals of human beings thrust in the hardest of times, and often called to make the ultimate sacrifice.

Told in first person narrative and action through the eyes of a Union officer named Captain Ellison, Incident at Pittston Crossing is about a Civil War conflict between invading rebel forces and the man charged to stop them. Ordered to buy the Union forces time, one way or another, by Union General Logan, Ellison is somehow expected to hold off thousands of Reb troops with a hundred men, using a stone farmhouse as his base of operations. What follows is a blow by blow, almost minute by minute battle diary of how one man was ordered to defend a strategic crossroads with every available man he can gather at a short moment's notice, and how he sets forth to accomplish that order.

The reader of this fine novel becomes a silent witness to the strategy, training, emotions and dedication of the typical soldier of the Civil War, told through a soldier's perspective. Well researched and organized, Incident at Pittston Crossing offers a unique viewpoint in the telling of historical fiction. Author Nelson's characters are well fleshed out: fallible, determined, and totally human. While Captain Ellison is by necessity the focal point of this story, the author nevertheless successfully manages to portray a broad range of characters, incidents and strategy though that central character. One can almost smell the smoke and hear the roar of muskets and cannon through his fine narrative. Though somewhat reminiscent of Shaara's 'Killer Angels', Incident at Pittston Crossing offers the reader the opportunity to literally step into the past and become an eyewitness into the wartime lives of a distinctive brand of warriors

Interlocking fields of fire, hidden booby-traps, multiple weaponry for each man to increase firepower, innovative use of artillery, intentional disinformation, counter espionage, and above all, a sniper unit play a role in Ellison's defense of the "Notch" at Pittston Crossing. Colorful characters such as Major Thurman Harris, (An "Old Army" retiree living in the area who is dragooned back into service by Ellison), is a particularly enjoyable crusty, as is Skeeter Moss, a poor local fisherman of flexible morals and loyalties, just trying to survive. Civil War buffs and those who enjoy military fiction will enjoy this book. It held my attention to the end.

...yet I still find myself recommending it to people all the time. I've read at least 30 Koontz books, and this was my favorite. Although I tend to prefer books with more dialogue & this one didn't have much, the pace was incredibly fast. The main character finds herself in terrifying situations and you, the reader, can't help but put yourself in her shoes and wonder if you'd be able to hold up under such pressure. Although I remember a few minor, borderline-supernatural occurances, this story is basically about one of the most memorable literary psychopaths I've ever come across and his victims. Frightening in its reality, this book is a true thriller!

Liquid Dreams so hot it boils

Katrina's days are fraught with wedding plans to a man she doesn't love. Her nights are haunted by highly-charged erotic dreams of a man she's never met. Is it any wonder she seeks relief with a therapist?

There is no cure for Katrina's disturbing dreams. No cure for her torment except to remember the creature she'd once been. Her nightly encounters are not dreams. Her true soul mate is the ruler of an undersea kingdom. If she cannot recall her true Bandaran form and rejoin with Lord Ranek, the consequences for both of them will be tragic.

Liquid Dreams simmers with erotic heat. Cathryn Fox entwines the lovers' highly-charged encounters with each story development, every arousing dream of Katrina's sea god divulging more answers to her search for truth. It's life-or-death stakes for Katrina and Ms. Fox keeps readers at the same level, sifting through Katrina's memories with the clock ticking ominously. A sinister member of their ancient love triangle threatens to destroy Katrina's tenuous hold on happiness, weaving a current of dread throughout the story.

Cathryn Fox creates an intoxicating world where love reaches through the restraints of space and time. I look forward to the next offering from this beguiling new voice in erotic fiction.

Dr. Jasmine "Jaz" Quinlan loves the sea and everything in it, and it's her life's work to care for the marine creatures of the deep. When a pod of dolphins beach themselves because of a mysterious bacterial infection, Jaz then makes it her objective to find out the problem as well as the solution. Jaz feels real physical pain when she sees a dolphin die and she doesn't want to lose anymore. When she is introduced to Dr. Trey Sanders, Jaz sees him as a spoiled rich boy from old money that's only going to get in her way of helping the dolphins.

Reviewed for Joyfully Reviewed

When Triton finds out that yet another pod of dolphins are getting sick, his brother Ronan--better known as Neptune, guardian of all things in the ocean--informs him that he needs to go to the surface to find out what is going on. Disguising himself as a land dweller named Dr. Trey Sanders, Triton sets out to see if Jaz really knows what she is doing, and if she has the skill necessary to care for the dolphins. Triton/Trey finds more than he thought he would with Jaz, so much so, that it scares him and he acts strangely towards her; confusing both of them in the process.

Dolphin's Playground is an excellent story. I felt kind of sorry for Jaz, because she's trapped on land and dealing with people, when she'd love to do nothing more than to jump into the water and disappear. Her dedication to helping the dolphins is the only thing that surpasses her love of the water.

When Jaz and Trey first meet, the intensity from Jaz's instant and fierce attraction leapt from the pages. I knew then, that something big was going to happen between the both of them and I couldn't wait until it did!! Trey is so sexy, I'm more than willing to move and live in the water for him! I'd even take his prickly brother Ronan. Maybe Mrs. Burton, you will give Ronan a story?

Trey's bias against humans confuses him when he's instantly attracted to Jaz, but he fights it. I found myself getting upset at points with his bullheadedness, and then I felt sympathy because I understood that his past hurts are what clouded his feelings and judgment toward Jaz. When Jaz and Trey finally get together their joining is so intense that it curled my toes and I was left speechless...well speechless after I let out a shout of `Oh Yeah!'

There are many good points I could share about Dolphins Playground, but if I say them, then it loses its spice and surprise. Go out and get a copy now and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!!

This is truly an amazing well written erotic romance book. Cathryn Fox chose wonderful characters for her book. From the beginning to the end this book grabs you. This book will have you wanting to know what happens next. You would not want to put the book down.

Katrina has these dreams about a sea god name Ranek in her dreams Ranek makes wild, erotic love to her. The love scenes in this book are hot and steamy. When reading this book you will need a bucket of ice by you to cool you off.

Now Katrina has to decide if Ranek is just a man of her dreams or is he from her past, present, or future. This is the first book I have read by Cathryn Fox and I am looking forward to reading more books by her. I loved this book and I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves Erotic Romance with some really hot love scenes.

I don't know who wrote the short introduction to this score, but it's someone who simply does not have any idea about the opera: Manon Lescaut is a true, complete, mature masterwork by a composer whose astonishing craftmanship is at the same level of his incomparable, and unanimously praised melodic gift. The Dover score is the reproduction of the most authoritative edition, and show the usual, excellent standard of all Dover scores.

The Opera Journeys Mini Guide Series is just wonderful; it's like a "Cliff Note" of the opera, and extremely informative and educational. I particularly like the size; these guides are not cumbersome and fit right into my shirt pocket. The ladies will find sufficient room in their pocketbooks.

The story narrative with the music examples is excellent. I prefer it to a libretto; indeed, it's a much easier way to follow the essence of the story. The essay is magnificent; very well written, not pedantic, and extremely insightful and comprehensible. I congratulate Burton Fisher for a job very well done and Amazon for making these handy, information-laden booklets available. The Opera Journeys Mini Guide Series is a wonderful contribution to opera education and opera appreciation.

My tip: acquire the entire collection because you will be in easy reach of superbly presented opera guides consisting of story analysis, principal characters in the opera, story narrative with music highlights, background, analysis, and commentary.

Two other reviewers have attested to the excellence of the translation. 'The Midrash on Proverbs' is an especially important transitional one between two different periods of Midrashic development, between one which primarily relies on mythic and legendary material and one which provides a more line- to - line straightforward commentary.

I studied Midrash Mishle with Burt Visotzky in a class at the Jewish Theological Seminary. Rabbi Visotzky has dedicated his life to this text and it shows in this translation, which makes this particular midrash accessible to the English speaking audience. The stories in this midrash are superb and Dr. Visotzky footnotes all known manuscripts and their variations.

If you liked the Book of Proverbs, you're sure to enjoy the Midrash on Proverbs!

Vizotksy's Midrash is a Proverbial Winner!

Dr. Visotzky's translation on the Midrash of Proverbs is first rate, as one expects from the Yale Judaica Series. The book is more than a straight translation of _Midrash Mishle_ (_The Midrash on Proverbs_). It is an English translation of Visotzky's carefully prepared critical edition of Midrash Mishle (originally published in Hebrew). _Midrash on Proverbs_ is accessible to both serious scholars and informed enthusiasts. Visotzky's clear translations are sensitive to the original Hebrew, his short commentary is succinct and helpful, and the layout of the book itself is extremely lucid and straightforward. If you do not have the Hebrew skills to study this midrash in the original, this is the book for you! It is a pleasure to own and read.

This is the first book that I have read by this author. It won't be my last. This was a heartwarming story that was truly full of love. I enjoyed every word I read with every turn of the page. My heart went out to both Brent and Sarah. I so wanted them to hurry and tell the other their true feelings. This is a masterpiece. And bringing Aunt Hattie into the picture with the family was such a tender moment with Sarah. I am so glad that they got along. Mrs. Burton is an inspiration to all of us as writers. Only for a Year, was incredible. The characters will always stick in my mind. Excellent, superb. One that made me laugh, cry and feel a warmth in my heart. Two thumbs up and ten stars to this beautiful story of love between two people that finally found each other and held on to that love forever. I hated to see it end. I looked forward to Brent going home and finding Sarah there waiting for him. A wonderful, wonderful masterpiece that young adults as well as all ages should read. It should be made into a movie.

I fell in love with this book right from the start! Brent Chambers and Sarah Gordon are characters that a reader hates to say goodbye to at the end of the book. Miss Burton is an excellent writer and captures the true essence of romance with her unique style that endears the characters to the readers heart. She brings you into the world of what I consider to be a modern day Cinderella story and makes her characters come to life with real feelings. I would definetly recommend ONLY FOR A YEAR as a great read! Miss Burton is a writer to watch!
