In this book, Burns and Farris break down complex drum rhythms into simple rudimental patterns. It is amazing how simple it is to learn some challenging beats such as the samba, salsa, or difficult funk and jazz patterns by using this approach. The basic concept is to first learn the pattern on the snare then apply it to the kit. And it works!

For me, this book was a breakthrough to a whole new level of playing. Highly recommended!

This is an excellent book that can improve how we meet the needs of all students. We have found that, before teachers implement any of the parallels, that professional development is critical.

The two authors of Parents Guide ..., have a knowledge of teen, families and the subjects this book covers in depth.The first 1/4th of this book discusses dysfunctional families and how family life has changed over the years. Insightfully written, the reader is made aware of the risks faced by the family unit nowdays. Topics covered in the middle 2/4th of this book are: sex, substance abuse, suicide, satanism, homosexuality, aids, pornography, runaways, and eating disorders. Each chapeter gives personal experiences of teens, well documented stitistical information about the subject, and what can be done as a parent for their teen. The last 1/4 of this book provides some well grounded, useful advise for parents in dealing with these situations. I finished this book feeling, not overwhelmed at the vastness of the problem, but, feeling like there was an answer. "Hope for parents who think they've failed" gave real spiritual insight and comfort; knowing it is never hopeless. An exceptionally well written book, useful not just for parents, but, for people who counsel parents and youth.

Pastoral politics pulls back the sheet on church cover-ups.....of why their preacher left. Too long now pious talk has obscured why preachers really leave their pastorates. This book has done what others failed to do--i.e. to get to the bottom of what goes on behind church board doors. It is constructive despite the fact it uncovers grizzly negativity. It provides a history of clerical closures minus those detailed sleeze cases in the secular presses. It provides a good background in dealing with pastor/people conflicts because it explains, historicallly and spiritually, where the rubs develop and how a little ointment can get the machinery running again without damage. It is a fast and interesting read on top of that. A book to be read and shared.

I really enjoyed this book. It was wonderful to learn more about Pat Conroy and his style of writing. It's nice to have once place to go to when researching Pat Conroy. This book only goes as far as Beach Music though. I hope that they will udate this book when Pat finishes his next novel. I would definately reccomend this book to any Conroy fan or researcher.

The world is coming to an end when powerholders are self-absorbed and the masses persist in feeling charitable. Charity is one of the side effects of contemplation, which is more than having exalted visions of the divine. Contemplation is within the reach of all who have been baptized, all who embrace God as more than a 911, all who go beyond worldly ambitions in prayer, all who take part in the Mass. Emptying the mind of what we have created may at first let in a depressing darkness, sort of like seeing angels leaving a hill: my sister calls it the shrapnel of scrooging through how you have lived your life. Ultimately, finding peace and strength in Godly love is WHAT IS CONTEMPLATION is all about. Author Thomas Merton includes his own illustrations and the book's message links well with THE CONTEMPLATIVE HEART by James Finley, GOLD FRANKINCENSE AND MYRRH by George Maloney, and DARK NIGHT OF THE SOUL by St John of the Cross.

The book is great. New mentral health chapters updates make a difference. A must for Pediatric NPs.

This was a purchase for my NP program pharm class. However, it is turning out to be one of the most current and helpful books I have purchased. It goes into detail about trending medications and breaks down the underlying problems and drug mechanisms clearly.
Might seem expensive but it is compatible to three prior books I have purchased all wrapped up into one!

The book is filled with beautiful color examples of how artists have incorporated the banjo in their work. Leo Mazow's insightful writing is the best in the book. Some of the essays are stretching the truth quite a bit but such is the problem with speculative art criticism. The book is bound beautifully and it is enjoyable to just sit back and look at the images. I wish it were hardcover. I did not know that the banjo originated in Africa. The history of the banjo as described in the book is excellent.

This clever, witty and delightful book should be on every woman's MUST READ list. It is a quick read that appears to be basic and simple. However, it is a haunting, soul-searching vehicle to help us find a way back to our childhood feelings of delight with life.

The key to enjoying life has finally come to unlock the happiness within each and everyone of us. Thanks to this author, we may now learned how to do it all and do it with a smile on our face.
