This book found me when I was getting ready to board a plane in the late 80s. The cover lead me to believe the book would not force me to think, so I grabbed it and ran to my gate. I have not stopped thinking about it since. Written in first person, the book details the life of Anna, an only child whose mother dies when she is a teenager (don't worry, her larger-than-life relative, Mamie, comes to live with her and teaches her the love of music) This could easily be a depressing theme, unrequited love, but Kitty Burns Florey bescribes the 60's on the east coast, and Anna's and Will's unique, funny and sad life experiences and with such honesty and detail and, well, beauty, that I felt as though I had lived the story, not read it. This book screams to be made into a movie. I have passed this beautiful story on to many many friends and they've all said the same thing, this story lives and breathes, it's an utterly romantic story, timeless. Find it, Read it, LOVE it! Merry we part...

A Dummies Guide to You should Buy this.

I had seen Ron Chan's artwork in various places on the web and have always liked his style, so when I saw this at the local comic shop, I just had to have it, although at the time it didn't matter who wrote it. After reading it, I was thoroughly pleased with my purchase, one might think it strange to call a visceral murder mystery Charming, but it has wonderful Banter between the schizophrenic detective and his "partner" the dummy. The Dummy, who the main character believes is paralyzed typically accompanies him on his mission via a Backpack "watching his back". Ron's Gritty pseudo-real style lends a fantastic feeling to script, His panel layouts are excellent and his coloring is fantastic. I already have the issues, but I will be getting the Trade to enjoy forever.

A must buy.

Eastern Philosophy: The Greatest Thinkers And Sages From Ancient To Modern Times by Kevin Burns offers a descriptive survey of spiritual and philosophical figures from the dawn of history. Presenting more then fifty major figures, Eastern Philosophy offers readers a succinct understanding of the lives and messages of such influential sages as Mohandas Gandhi, Laozi, Al-Hallaj, Confucius, Al-Kindi, Zoroaster and the histories of such philosophies as Indian and Hindi, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Islamic, and Zoroastrianism. Eastern Philosophy is accessible and very highly recommended reading, especially for students of the great world religions and philosophies.

Classics!

I remember finding this book in my mom's collection back when I was about 7 or 8 yrs old, and it's probably the reason I became a horror reader. The stories are all well-known classics (The Monkey's Paw being my favorite of the bunch), but it's the artwork that makes this a must-have. Each story is beautifully/grossly illustrated, and if they wouldnt scare guests, I'd frame the pages themselves! (Ya I'm sick!) If you can find it, get it!

I'm a senior who has been to tons of colleges searching for the "right" one. However when you go to visit you often don't get the full story. What are the people like? How are the professors? What's the food really like? So on and so on however College Prowler gives an accurate description of the school with all of it's dirty little secrets! It's very simple to read and it's an excellent source of reliable information for the school of your choice. The College Prowler dishes about everything in the school that's going to be important to know when you go there. I chose Elon and that's where I'm planning to go all because of the College Prowler!

"A spoonful of poems helps the wounded heart smile". "Emonetry: A Mellow Place" is a book packed covered to cover with comforting words to help one's injured spirit heal its wounds. Author Larry Burns, a victim of child abuse and a cancer survivor, knows pain and has been lucky enough to know how to relieve it as well through the word of God. Burns now uses his poetry to spread God's word, in hopes that it too can heal the hurt that inhabits all of us. "Emonetry: A Mellow Place" is a pick for any poetry shelf, any Christianity shelf, or just a pick for someone who needs a pick me up when life has beat them down so much.

Our family plays games, and we cant live without this book. In fact, we dog-eared our first copy so much we purchased another here on Amazon. Included are rules and strategies for more than 250 games (indoor and outdoor). The book is easily divided into 5 parts: 1 Card Games; 2 Board Games;3 Dominoes and Dice Games; 4 Family Games, and 5 Sporting Games. Whether you're looking for a new game for an inside rainy day, an activity to get the family moving outside, an ordganized game for large get together or family reunion, or simply a quick fact to settle an argument regarding a rule to a familiar game, it's in this pages. If you happen to need fresh idea for new games (I use this book for that purpose often), you'll find this a fantastic resource. I'm so glad I ran across this book on Amazon, my days of finding the perfect game for every situation are finally over. I purchased it new from an Amazon Marketplace Seller, not direct from the website. I received the exact same book, shipped quicker than Amazon, in perfect condition and $10 cheaper. Try marketplace sellers for exceptional value on new items.

British Invasion For Studying...Excellent Option
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2006-02-16
I've read many articles and study guides and I must say that I was thorougly impressed with this guide because it covers a range of topics. It covers such topics as time management, confidence and getting over anxiety as well as improving learning techniques, reading, research, writing and studying for exams. The approach to learning is both technical and creative but the book is very interactive for its readers, all of which I like very much.

I think that this interaction is very important with the reader because you're learning (yet again) another learning system. But what I found was that it was easier to learn and use than say, What Smart Students Know, yet another wonderful study guide.

It is written in a British style, so it spells organize like "organise" and so on. But that aside, it's a wonderful guide and I found it to be very informative and helpful. I highly recommend it.
