The cover of Burn caught my eye.Reminded me of the old punk zines of my youth. While the cover hooked me, the words have held me! Ever read ANYTHING over & over, extracting something new from each read? That's what happens with each of these poems: you figure out what he's saying until you revisit the verse a 2nd, 3rd, or fourth time. My mind & the eye of my soul see the pain. Then I see some kind of redemption. Poetry, to me, is like music, art, wine...I don't know what's "good", but I know what I like. And I like anyone who can convey feelings, thoughts, emotions like this guy. Read it!

Best book on re-entry for missionaries that I have read. Especially great sections for TKC (Third Culture Kids, formally called MKs). Excellent for someone returning to home, to church, friends, and family receiving them. Easy read. Right on target. Should be in every mission pastor's library.

I saw this book in the store and at first thought it was simply funny -- then I read the introduction and the author offers some helpful anger management tips. In the end the book did help me to release my anger because it changed my mood to amused -- able to see the humor in all that was pissing me off. I also loved this authors book HOW TO BE HAPPY DAMMIT and her website has a great blog at www.notsalmon.com. I recommend this book as a great fun gift to yourself and anyone you know whos been pissed off lately. I am giving it as a chrismas gift to all my employees.

I am a big fan of Ms. Salmansohn's books... After I read HOW TO BE HAPPY, DAMMIT and THE 8 MINUTES GUTS BUILDER...I started to look into her other books. This one is (like many of Ms. Salmansohn's books) both fun to read...and also very helpful. Basically it explains why (and how) to go about burning off your anger. You fill out the pages about the all the things that might make you angry and then you set them on fire. It really got me thinking about all the things I should be "letting go" of in my life. I recommend this book big time!

I grew up in San Pedro California and anyone listening at that time can remember the shout "burn baby burn" (even before the riots)or "give me four and a half more bars" where Magnificent would put the needle back on the record randomly and extend the record another 3-4 minutes. This brother is and was as much a part of the fabric of American radio as any other person as Dick Clark and Alan Freed (without the payola charge). A Berry Gordy ,Smokey Robinson,Gamble and Huff of the radio, a
true radio Giant that set the stage for many, many ,many others to follow in his large footsteps.
MagnificentMontague, you will always be.. the man..!!

Be Careful of "Burning Out" for the Lord!
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2004-07-05
Faulkner has written an excellent guide targeted for pastors and other ministry professionals, the book is applicable to anyone who is suspectible to burnout.

While Faulkner addresses the psychological and spiritual aspects of burnout, he also prescribes practical solutions such as: better diet, vacation, delegating, counseling, and more exercise.

Since burnout seems to be more commonplace nowadays, this book, while more than 20 years old, is a timely read!

Read, enjoy, and be encouraged to rest in the Lord!

This is a fantastic book. I read it several years ago and bought several copies for my friends. Then it went out of print and I was so disappointed. But now it's coming out in a new edition from Innovations Press in California. It took me from such a burned out hopeless point of view to a positive happy attitude. Watch for the new edition. I hear it will be out very soon.

Turn back the clock
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 1999-12-26
It was not all that long ago that radio was king. Turn back the clock and re-kindle your imagination as George Burns and Gracie Allen and special guest Jack Benny guide you through this magical time.

In this classic episode of the Burns and Allen radio show, the Burnes meet Jack Benny for lunch at the Brown Derby. Notoriously stingy, Jack dodges paying the check, but this event reminds the couple that there was a time when Jack was not so cheap! Laugh along as they try to re-awaken the spirit of their old friend, "Generous Jack"!

Collectors and fans of Burns and Allen, Jack Benny and classic radio comedies will be tickled to have this gem in their collection.
