I purchased this book for my parents who are reaching retirement, thinking that it would help occupy their time and give them some extra cash; i ended up keeping it for myself and had to purchase another copy!

This book is loaded with information in an easy to read format. The author does an excellent job of making complex points understandable and covering ideas that i wouldn't have given much thought to. By the end of the book i felt like i was ready to start my own booth and i even laughed many times throughout the book, the author's writing made me feel like i was sitting across from her and she was telling me all the secrets of the trade.

I have purchased my first trailer and hope to be up and running by April. Thanks Barb Fitzgerald!

I bought this book from the author when I was thinking about starting my own concession business to supplement my income. This is an awesome book. It give clear explanations of how to start a business, what you need to consider, make your plan and then how to implement your plan. The book probably saved me hours and hours of trying to find information on my own and did it all in an easy to read format. I would highly recommend it for anyone even thinking of possibly starting their own food business. The information is invaluable.

The gorgeous cover of this book alone makes it worth the price. The author, Jasper Burns, is simply brilliant in his creative joining of poetry and illustrations of the natural world. Like all his books, Fossil Dreams gives us a touch of beauty and inspiration in a very troubled world. That makes them wonderful gifts as well, for children and adults. Thank you, Mr. Burns.

As I settled down to read "Fossil Dreams" I was expecting to enjoy another book about fossils to feed the habit I've developed in collecting them. I wasn't expecting to find a sensitive and exciting journey that took me back to the place inside myself where I fell in love with them. Jasper Burns really captures the wonder and amazement that I feel when I am fossiling. Whether it is sifting through gravel, walking river banks, seashore, or digging in a shell mine, it is the same sense of wonder and time travel that you can't help but feel when you hold a fossil in your hand that has traversed a million years to appear before your eyes. An added bonus are the wonderful illustrations that Jasper Burns has included in the book. He has an amazing eye for detail and is able to merge reality with fantasy in a wondrous manner. It brings back the wonder and excitement I shared with my daughters as they learned about fossils. If you love fossils and never cease to be amazed by their beauty, you will like this book.

Share these dreams. Then go find them in the rocks.

You have gone on trips with Jasper Burns before. He's shown you the trilobite torqued by West Virgnia limestone or splintered in Pennsylvania shale. You've walked with him scanning for sharks teeth along the Chesapeake and Potomac shores.

In Fossil Dreams, Mr. Burns takes you on a new journey. You're not quite sure as he explains the mystery of this new tour, this new way of looking at things. But his pictures of fossils are familiar and reassuring. They are what you've discovered in the rocks before and what you hold your hope of discovering next time out.

You find yourself in the ancient seas, at the dawn of time. You find yourself at play with creatures that fill those long away places. You are lost in the wonder of this creation. You are humbled as a creature in that creation.

That wonder carries you through sun-baked days in the shale pit in search of the perfect brach ... and through the icy chill as you wade in January waves in search for the evasive meg tooth.

And Mr. Burns is right. It's not just about what you find, the collection you are building. It's about what you might find. It's about the hunt. It's about the anticipation. About fulfilling a part of your own ... fossil dream.

I absolutely loved this book as a child. It's filled with everything from word games to chicken trivia to handwriting analysis. I took it with me to college (hey! it's a valuable reference) and someone I lent it to never returned it. I'm now dedicated to finding another copy. I want MY kids to have this book!

A must for every child's library!

My parents bought my sister and I this book when it came out. Our copy is dog-eared and care-worn... a sure sign that the author succeeded in trying to create the perfect book to keep kids occupied. At 25, I still find myself using some of the games, jokes, and project ideas.

***** Apologies to the the soup kitchen *****

I was lucky enough to be at the book launch.

It was at a hair salon cum art gallery at Church and Richmond, across from my local.

An amazing gallery showcase for the beautiful travails of the graceful and marvellous, and I will one day afford the investment, Beverly.

Most of the paintings in the book were on display. I brought my two kids dressed accidentally in matching tie dye. My favourite passion filled painting of the feet, was apparently purchased by a newlywed couple, so fitting.

It was a champagne sipping event. My three year old daughter was a little disappointed because it was not a party like I told her it was going to be. (No cake and balloons). I could not get a baby sitter.

Hawksley walked around and shook hands with everyone in the room. It was beautiful.

I used to glance at these poems in the personals section of Now Magazine. I did not understand the investment back then. But now, this twelve dollar book, and all the insight and illumination, what a return!

The book was being sold (and autographed) by the writer and illustrator - and some little helpers handled the transactions.

This is an importantly profound and romantic work. We all shout these thoughts out to no one and everyone. As poetry and art, it helps explain us to ourselves. In simple words and lavish paint, it also explains our thoughts to the rest of the world. It is a thesaurus of the sensuous for the macho and clumsy. Mr. Workman naturally and effortlessly speaks in poetry.

It has changed the way I look at verse.

I see beauty differently in writing and art now. I will never be able to eat a peach the same way again. I have more patience when perusing paint, scrutinizing extraneous sounds or wrestling with the written word.

"What are these rhythms that infect my hips when I meet you? Hypodermic needles carried by golden beams, filled with animal serum, to land in my thighs."

Eventually, some of us get lucky and connect with our own Isadorai.

I realised that evening, holding my copy of Isadora while standing in that room with all the warmth of the surrounding decorations, that I was standing in a spotlight's silhouettes shadow, scratching my eyes.

I am not the same.

I like that.

Audrey Tyson thinks she is only working undercover as a housekeeper at Mark Malone's ranch to get a story. A story about the former rodeo star that is hopefully so juicy it will give her the big promotion to full-fledged reporter that she's been hoping for. But she soon discovers that the more she learns about her gorgeous, enigmatic employer, the more she can't deny her attraction to him.

Mark Malone thinks his new housekeeper is a nuisance--a sexy, curvaceous nuisance, but a nuisance all the same. But the more Audrey gets him to open up, and the more she brings back the man and hero he once was, the more he realizes that she just might be what he needed to rebuild his life.

Filled with sizzling sexual tension and deep emotional conflict, High-Stakes Passion is a must read for every romance fan. Debut author Juliet Burns knows how to write a page turner and keep the characters on an emotional ride that leads to a very satistying conclusion.

Ms. Burns is definitely a rising star in this genre.

Audrey Tyson is posing as a housekeeper at the Double M ranch to meet the infamous bull rider Mark "Lone Cowboy" Malone. Mark was injured and is no longer competing. Audrey is trying to get his story.

Mark has both physical and emotional scars. The injury to his leg is almost as bad as the emotional scars left by his mother. Audrey will have a very hard time breaking down Mark's walls. Just when it seems that she has, Mark finds out who she really is and Audrey fears she has lost Mark forever now.

In High-Stakes Passion Mark and Audrey struggle through the pain of their painful pasts to find unconditional love in each other's arms. Audrey is a sweetheart and Mark is a wonderful man. High-Stakes Passion is a story filled with drama and passion. It's a tender story, with a heart warming and romantic ending.

After a bull-riding accident, injurred rodeo cowboy Mark Malone, the 'Lone Cowboy' goes to ground refusing to talk to any reporter, finding comfort in the bottle. Aubrey Tyson stands to win her dream job at her newspaper if she can get the story no one else can get. Going undercover as the ranch housekeeper, she plans to get close to Mark, learn his secrets, and write the killer story of her life. Because Mark had always been her hero--ever since he'd rescued her from abusive young men years before. Mark has forgotten that incident, but Aubrey will never forget it.

Drink and anger at the world, as well as a deep distrust for all women have transformed Mark from the cowboy hero to someone darker, more dangerous. Still, Aubrey's heart goes out to him. She, of all people, understands the fear, self-loathing, and self-destructive tendencies that Mark is going through. In a poker game, she has a chance to reveal her secret and ask for the interview, but instead, raises the stakes further, demanding that Mark give up drinking and deal with his injuries. But for Aubrey, the reformed Mark is even more dangerous than the drinking one--and the stakes aren't just money or even her body--because she's falling in love with a cowboy who swears he'll never have a relationship, never want children, never trust a woman.

Author Juliet Burns combines steamy lovemaking and strong emotional conflict in her compelling debut novel. Aubrey's undercover reporter and Mark's drinking provide a new twist to the much-loved rancher/housekeeper plot hook. With his deep issues of betrayal, Aubrey's secret profession leads inevitably toward a powerful black moment.

I look forward to seeing more books by this talented writer.

This book was life-changing for me. It validated my right to take care of myself with God's blessing. The authors, four of the finest contemporary Christian psychiatrists, helped me understand that even Jesus protected Himself from ministerial burn out by taking fishing and picnic breaks with His disciples. I learned that nurturing/protecting myself actually is scriptural, and has already been mentored for me by Jesus' management of His own life while He was here. Read this book if you are in any "helping profession." You will need it!

Mr. Burns has produced a well organized and very useful reference book. He has done an excellent job of providing identification information as well as historical data. The author does a good job of organizing the history and production of the Imperial Glass Company through its existence from 1901 to 1985. The chapters on Imperial Trademarks are particullarly helpful This book is highly recomended to collectors of Imperial Glass and students of American glass making history in general. The book includes a helpful price list.

Mr. Burns has also authored another great book titled, "Dugan & Diamond Carnival Glass 1909 -1931."

I have this book, & have had it since it was released. The photography is wonderful, it's easy to read & understand. TONS of great info. I just wish there was a new release of a price guide to go with it! It's like a Bible for all serious Imperial collectors. It does need an updated version since more pieces have come to light in other colors/variations in the 8 yrs since it was written, but it's still a book I wouldn't trade.

This is a great book to help the average person keep fish healthy. I wish I had this book years ago, as so many fish would not have had to give their lives. It gives practical information about how to set up and break in a new tank, what fish can cohabit an aquarium and a lot of great info about water chemistry and what fish like which types of water. It also discusses treatments for sick fish. Great book for the price! Less than $10 + shipping from the author at everythingfishy.com.

This is a great book for the beginning aquarist as well as the knowledgeable. All of the advice has been gained the hard way, by doing it. Alice Burkhart writes in an easy to read, practical manner that covers all of the information a beginner NEEDS to know. I recently started a new 44 gallon tank following the directions given, and have not lost a single fish! This book will pay for itself from the get-go. If you prevent the death of even one Discus for instance, you have paid for the book! I cannot recommend this book too much, I just wish it had been available 20 years ago when I quit the aquarium hobby out of frustration over dead fish.

Only book a new fish keeper need ever read.

It is no wonder that the author has children fighting over copies of this !!! When I hold it I say "MINE MINE MINE" too. The work is not only excellently WRITTEN - it manages to achieve that ever present goal of the writer - to entertain and teach simultaneously. The parables are so unforgettable - they stay with you and haunt you and make you a better person. I find myself going over and over the stories in my mind when I am quiet or even when I am not - they just keep running through my brain - and each time I learn something more. There is gentle and strong wisdom here - with a touch of magick. However it becomes very addictive - mine is being used and loved till it is worn out. This is more than a collection of stories - it is one of those creations that also becomes a beloved friend.

Delightful stories for young and old!
