The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson BurnettReview Date: 2003-04-08
At the outesr of this story, Mary is ugly with yellow skin by constant illness.(7.) She is living in India wih her parents who never wanted a child. As the Mary's servnats were obliged to give Mary whatever she wants.
Mary beocmes terribely spoiled, selfish and dictatorical. She loves no one, and no one cares at all for her(21.).
The other important character is Colin Craven. Everyone fears that he will become a hunchback and die before he reaches adulthood. "So long as Colin shut himself up in his room and thought only of his tears and weakness...He was a hysterical half- crazy little hypochondriac who knew nothing of the sunshine..."(57.). Colin hates looking at himself in the mirror because he despises the pity from other people. He refuses to leave the manor house, and spends all his shut up in his grand gloomy room.
This novel also tells us about that the relationship between the health and outlook of the story which is theme of this novel. For example, when Master Craven is sad, ensures that he will continue to be sad, and will make those around him similarly dismal.
I think Mary will discover some kind of garden that actually represents this novel, and Mary will have a time living with other people because she is selfish. I predict that she will live in garden by herself and will get magical experience. In last part, I think she will learn how to love other from Coalin because he is the same age as Mary and Coalin are both lonely.
my nice storyReview Date: 2005-08-23
The title of book is so interesting for readers to find out that what is in the garden. The story continues to be interesting when Mary found the key of it and her uncle's son. The children play the important roles in the story especially Mary who develops all of the hidden problems in this lonely house. And then, the story ends with the happiness of everyone. I think it is a nice story.

Hardly a Cool Demented DudeReview Date: 2007-03-13
Otherwise Stuff's life is miserable. His parents have divorced, and his dad has imported a sexy live in lover that Stuff called "Sherry Trifle" due to her resemblance to the popular UK dessert. In turn, La Trifle has brought in her own daughter, Natasha, a sexy girl around Stuf's age who torments him with her insults. He is of an age where he is prone to acne ("spots" in British parlance) and thinks about sex every six seconds, as does his best mate, Pete.
Stuff has a lovely girlfriend, Delfine, but he is feeling his oats, and when he meets the punked out "SkY' in art class, quite loses his heart to her and begins drawing a comic srtip in which she appears as a scantily clad superhero, a la Seth Cohen's comic book in the OC. However, Delfine's nasty, brutish brother Darcy is ready to beat Stuff to a pulp if he dares break up with longsuffering Delfine.
Stuff is loveable and adaptable, if never believable. A useful glossary appears in the back of the book which explains some of Stuff's strange UK slang, although other bits remain unexplained. This book is OK, but Stuff's catchphrases are rotten ("How my life goes"?) and it would take a miracle to make this one a success on these shores.
