This book is perhaps the most valuable contribution to union education in many years. More unions need to understand that education is not about information, it is about transformation. It is about helping working people understand the world around them and how they have the power to change it. This isn't done by telling them about it, or by giving them a fancy PowerPoint presentation. It is done by using their own experience and knowledge to help them transform their understanding. This book has an excellent balance of foundation and practicality, including a large number of "recipes" in the form of the authors' favorite union education exercises. Even though I've read it more than once, I take it off the shelf every time I design a new curriculum. It has helped me completely deconstruct and rebuild every educational program in my union, and the results have been inspiring. If more unions took this direction instead of treating their members as empty vessels to be filled with information by "experts," we'd have a very different labor movement in the United States. Finally, though, I have to say that what you find between these pages is not limited to unions in its application. Community groups, religious activists, and all movements for change can gain a great deal from it.

This book is comprehensive and explains design methods, data colelction, and all a teacher needs for research. it comes with a companion website which includes vast resource "baggy". Excellent and much improved from the last edition.

The Elbo Elf story is funny, heart-warming and happy with a strong moral ending. It stresses never losing "faith in what you can do." The songs are wonderful; you'll be singing along with them in no time! Great gift for kids of all ages!

This is the most beautiful book that has ever been written. I cried as I read it. My tears over it's beauty and poetry could fill the ocean (probably the Indian Ocean, because the Atlantic might be too big of a stretch.) I foresee a Nobel Prize for literature in its future. Even the cover of this book makes me tremble with delight. The buxom beauty is drawn with such classical perfection that I sigh with pleasure as i look upon her lily-white breast. Her story is told with such passion, such fervor, my palms filled with sweat merely holding this sacred book. I plead with all the world to read this novel! Oh, beauty, thy name is Emily Donelson

I found this book really helpful in deciding how to be more entrepreneurial, and decide what my product is. It has helped me to spot opportunities, network with important contacts and get my business started. I am now starting to make money......I know I am on the road to becoming a millionaire!!!

I bought this book thinking that it would just be nice to have on the shelf since I have 'always loved horses.' It turned out to be an unexpected pleasure to read. Although I have read many horse-related books I was very unaware of the feminine history in this field. This book filled a knowledge gap. I am 47 and have owned a horse only since my early 30's. Yet I felt very connected to these women who were able to take their dreams so far. They are my new heroines! The photographs are also terrific. My favorite is one of an 80+ yr. old woman obviously enjoying an active side saddle ride. Thank you, Ms. Burke, for this contribution.

You better watch out. You'd better not cry. Ethel Burke has come, seen, and conquered the wretched excess we call "Christmas." Get a copy and save it for that "special some one" on your list. I'm sure you know EXACTLY who to give it to!

Irigaray's `rewriting' of philosophy and philosophers is essential reading for anyone interested in philosophy these days. It is also a refreshing breath of thought on `Feminism'. The concept of `Place'is presented as Woman, a return to the primordial feminine via `deconstruction' (in the best possible way) of western patriarchial hegemony. Besides the radical content, it is is beautifully written - clear and profound. Read this book!

More selective than Michelin, Zagat or any lesser known compilations of Europe's best. Hard to disagree with the selections to the list, plus counting how many you've hit in your travels is an automatic reaction to the beautifully layed out publication (I've made it to 37 of the 200). Why not more from Portugal?
