Memories of my home town went into this one...

The story grabs you as you read about the old man and his dog. The Prologue sets the hook and never lets go. The lives of the two boys, Billy and Tommy are fun to read about. I used my sons Bryce and Brent as the inspiration for these two boys. The mystery out at the forest is engaging and fun and somewhat frightening.
My research about this animal paid off. It was the king of predators in its day. Before the research,I never knew such an animal ever existed; made for a fun and engaging story as the tale came alive and pulled me in, the way you want to be when you've started a good book or when you begin to write one.
I have in the back of my mind, a sequel working. My second book, "Still Waters" will release in March.

Hope you found this helpful and enjoy my style of writing.

Best Regards
Buck Larson

Captivating Mystery
Springerton's Curse is childhood revisited. One is immersed in the mystery of the dark forest where lurks a mysterious creature. The reader is also caught up in the lives of two best friends growing up in a small town and shares in the joys, laughter and sorrows of their daily lives. Reading this book brought back all the joys of growing up with a good friend. The book comes to life the further one reads and what starts out as a great beginning ends with a wonderful finale.Great reading for teens and adults! Can't wait to read more books from this author!

Resonant loss and exile echoing down from the 1970s

Terrific translations Marilyn Buck ("Free Marilyn Buck," said a poster someone had on a high window I saw on driving through San Francisco this month)---early award-winning poems of exile, loss and resistance. Tough, tender, tensile.

A profoundly emotional work

Number fifty-eight in the compact "Pocket Poets Series" from City Lights Publishers, State of Exile is an impressive collection of poems by Cristina Peri Rossi, whose work was banned in her native Uruguay. Threatened by Uruguay's military dictatorship, she moved to Spain in 1972, where she resides today. State of Exile was written during her journey to Spain and the first years of her self-exile; due to its intensely personal nature, it remained unpublished for almost thirty years. An expression of alienation, loss, doubt, sorrow, and longing for one's distant family and friends, State of Exile is a profoundly emotional work, yet it also taps into creative spirit and the human willingness to forge new relationships. The result is a bittersweet blend of homesickness, adaptation, and hope, with each of its poems rendered both in the original Spanish and in English translation. "State of Exile": very soon so far away quite badly / always / difficulty words furious interminable / strange a stranger what else the tree / if I just look differently // everything / could be more human.

Excellent advice for anyone caught in an abusive situation..

This is a very well-written summary of one woman's experience with domestic violence. Bunny seeks to explain to the reader WHY an abused woman stays in a relationship, in spite of the danger, and what those who love her can do to help her get out. She offers the reader many valuable resources and even checklists to help her "break the chain". Many thought-provoking original poems are dispersed throughout the book as well. I say "BRAVO" to a very courageous woman, and I highly recommend this book to anyone whose life has been touched by domestic violence in any way. Kudos, Bunny - I wish you all the best!

This book is a gem. It's determined to show the way through domestic violence and how to come out the other side a whole person. This womans' story of courage and passion is extrordinary. She offers a way to get the help that's needed, with the eyes of someone who has been there. The pages are written with love and caring, yet show amazing strength. I would recommend this book to all.....

great book about a woman losing her family, marrying for security, leaving then maturing into herself. Not preachy, whiney, or mushy. Just a wonderful story of choices and circumstances and hope and life.

This book is wonderfully written!

It is a tale of one woman's struggle to find her identity. It isn't sentimental or feminist, but simply a story about making the wrong choices... and surviving; only to find, that there is still plenty of time to make the right ones. The book reads fast!!! I am an avid reader and this one is my all-time favorite!

A great read with good presentation starting with the summary overview followed by the detail (albeit summaries in themselves). Writer gives nothing but the facts and doesen't try to interpret everything for you keeping his focus on the primary Biblical characters' lineage to the end. I would say to all the revionists out there, check it out and take heed.

I can't put this book down. I hope he writes more of them.

I am so happy to finally be able read and undertand what the book of Genesis is trying to say. It is illuminating to find out about how all these myths we take for granted as being in the Bible are really not there. It seems to be written for all types of people... people that have studied God's word for years and live by His grace, people that want to know His word but just don't understand it, people who don't know one way or another how they feel about religion and it will open their eyes to the truth, or people that just love a good story about sex, violence, murder and mayhem, family betrayal and dysfunction, covert operations and vengeance. All in all a fantastic read!

When I first saw the title to the book, "Wildlife of the New Millennium," I expected a review of new species. Instead I found a hilarious book dealing with man and wildlife facing the new millennium. The pictures add alot to the book. (I esp. love the cover). In a light-hearted way, Peterson brings to light issues that we face with urban sprawl. A great read for environmentalists, scientists, and outdoorsmen who know what is going on, but have a sense of humor.

Ms. Leon works successfully with the most underemployed, difficult to employ, and nearly impossible to keep employed population: prison parolees. As a parole officer, I am familiar with her work with our criminal population and have reviewed her book. Her agency contracts with the state of California to provide encouragement to men and women ex-prisoners used to robbing and stealing to support their drug habits. Many of these deceitful and violent people get out of prison with genuine hopes for a real job. Unfortunately, their previous work is at the end of a gun barrel or selling crack cocaine and heroin. Ms. Leon works individually with ex-offenders, capitalizing on their hopes, but preparing them to face real-world barriers in the work place. The book is well-written, and best of all, in a workbook format to be used by the job seeker frustrated by the barriers in the workplace. I use it with my own parolees. Ms. Leon's book would help individual readers, but better, it would be used in job-seekers groups, trade schools, or community colleges were students prepare for the working world. Her experience with tattooed and toothless convicts is a valuable buy for any law-abiding citizen.

Great book - I truly enjoyed reading it.

I truly enjoyed reading the book. The workbook is easy to read with clear language, with a "pinch of humor" -- and definitely not boring. Page after page, I thought of friends, family members, acquaintances, clients I work with (and myself) the benefits of reading this book. Even, if you think you know the ins-and-outs of job seeking, as a resource book, it will be helpful. The author knows the business of "how to find a job", gives good advise and the information is up-to-date with a focus on the "real world". I highly recommend this book - for those who are currently job seeking, would like to change jobs or careers, or are trying to find their "first job". Think of the dollars spent buying this workbook, as a small investment for a better job and better future.

Allen Klein has done a marvelous job at collecting, editing, and organizing a group of comedic quotes related to the workplace. It is easy to find snippets you can relate to a particular topic thanks to the categorization of the compilation, and it is also wonderfully entertaining to simply open the book at a random page and browse. This is a collection that will not become dated because the material is not tied to any specific era, but relies on the timeless friction that exists between worker and workplace, between boss and subordinate. The grist for this mill is always available. Highly recommended!

Laughing out loud til it hurts!

Absolutely the funniest book I've read in recent years! I found myself laughing out loud for just about every chapter of it, and had to stop reading it during lunch one day because other people in the restaurant were staring at me (I mean, I'm cute and all, but let's be realistic...). This is a collection of articles by a fictitious teenager named "Buck Felner" (John McPherson), and the stories are hilarious! I work with teenagers, but I've found many laughable moments from my own high school years reading this. Try your best to find a copy! You'll definitely be glad you did!
