I buy these books for the public library at home. I felt that this one was a bit different from the rest It's totally unlike Max to believe that the members of the Saddle Club would be responsible for anything that would endanger the horses in his stable. The best part is that while the girls manage to get back at spoiled brat Veronica D'Angelo, this time Stevie, Lisa and Carole have help in the form of veterinarian Judy Barker. Plus, Veronica's horse "Danny" was the life of the party they all attended. Couldn't have ended better.

Amazing!!!

Stevie is up to her jokes. Lisa's and Carole's school is having a dance. Everything should be normal. Then the stable snob decides to get Revenge. She sticks the Saddle Club up at Pine Hollow for the night caring for her horse while she is at the dance. Then Judy shows up with a horse vaccum cleans up Danny.the girls take danny to the dance with them. Rock and Roll will never be the same!!

This horse really rocks!

I've read this book and think it's great! I have two friends and we're just like the Saddle Club. I can't wait till they read it! I loved their plan to take Veronica Di Angelo's horse to the dance. It was a fun and sneaky way to get back at her. Veronica is such a jerk. But her horse is beautiful and talented. He has great taste for music! Please read this book.(And of course a rock and roll soul!) More great books to read are HORSE CARE #76 and HORSE WHISPERS. Please continue writing Ms. Bryant so I can continue reading.

Browsing a western history display in a local book store, I ran across "Sister." What an awesome book. A well written and heartfelt story of pioneer life and how common folks faced with uncommon ordeals bonded together. The writer and editors did a great job including pictures and historical research that brings the book to life. Something you should have on your coffee table or share with your grandchildren as a gift.

A wonderful true story about a young woman who overnight became the mother of her young brothers and sisters after their parents were killed in a fire. Her father had the insight to see that she had an education and she taught her siblings as well as other homestead children in several one room school houses with sometimes only a horse for transportation. It is a heartfelt story of how the homestead women survived and raised families while their men and America were at war. The book gives an accurate history of Lusk, Wyoming during the 1930's. The author and Ms. Linford should be commended!

This story was one of the most touching, heartwarming stories of courage I have ever read. Mildred Crofutt Bryant sacrificed much to honor her dying father's trust in her. In reading the story I was struck by the obvious love and respect the children felt for their parents and each other. During an era when folks had barely enough for themselves and their own families, the neighbors reached out to this orphaned family of children in order for them to survive as well as stay together on the family homestead. Lots of photographs along with newspaper accounts and family letters. Wonderful book!

I was walking through a book shop and this woman standing in a prepared pose caught my attention. I'm one who judges a book by its cover and this one seemed interesting. As I jumped from poem to poem, emotion to emotion, rhythm to rhythm I became a fan. This was my first exposure to Dana, and I'm glad I found her. Her words, and ways of writting them captured me. I became the characters, and felt their pain, or joy, or pleasure. I thuroughly recomend this book to all poetry, rhythm, and jazz writers, readers, and composers. You will become a fan with the first pages.

She is a long-time friend. A well-spoken beauty of 6'1. No pretense, just sincerity and searching in her works. The kind of person that makes you look and feel good.

She's come a long way in putting her word out to the public, but her presence deeply affected all in her realm long before. I recommend seeing her perform in person, to do justice to the written word.

Dana Bryant is best appreciated on the stage or on cd (get her spoken word "Wishing from the Top"). Still, her first volume of poetry is delightful. Poems like the fantastic "Heat" crackle with energy and wit. One tip: her poetry is best read aloud. Bryant does some weird things with the way she spaces out her poetry on the page that I'm not sure best depicts the poetry. Don't let this bug you though. This is a fantastic survey of her poems, and great for any fan of anyone from Ntozake Shanghe to Maggie Estep to Paul Beatty.

I have been looking for a book like this for a while. I find most books with information on spec sheet writing complicated and unorganized; not this one, this book separates garments into different chapters such as how to spec a blazer, pant and shorts, a vest, a turtleneck, etc. A simple glance at the glossary and I am able to quickly find the category of clothing I need to build a spec sheet for and have all the information neatly presented in bulletin style with clearly drawn samples of flats indicating how to correctly measure the garment, which is invaluable since so many books tend to assume the reader already knows how to establish measuring points. There is also a handy basic spec sheet template included for every category.

Easy to read and easy to learn --this is one book I am keeping around for a long time.

So helpful!

A comprehensive, user-friendly guide to the skills and techniques for measuring garments and creating spec sheets. It's an excellent resource book which provides the fundamentals for building, developing, streamlining your flats and specs library. It's a neat and concise reference book you would find so useful that would like to own and keep at hand at all times. Furthermore, the enclosed CD-ROM makes it even more versatile for it offers you the possibility to save, send, print, alter (and carry!) all the information. I find it extremely helpful.

I thought when Stevie did that prank on Chad was funny. I wasn't surprised that Stevie got grounded. I could tell that when Chad and his stinky friend put whipped-cream in Stevie's brand-new boots she was firery mad. And when Carole and Lisa rubbed garden dirt on Belle's coat I thought Chad wouldn't fall for the colic prank! But he did. My favorite part was when Carole and Lisa fed Belle human foods and drinks! I recommend this book to you if you like horses- that's why I gave this book 5 stars.

I was impressed by the research done by the author to provide initial information about the state of today's church and its needs. The first two chapters got my attention. This is the most comprehensive ministry tool I've seen yet. I am purchasing a copy for each of our church's board members. It is a particularly valuable resource for any woman in ministry to other women or to anyone. I like the exercises that prepare others for ministry. Most helpful. I highly recommend this book as well as the workbook "Unleashing your potential" by the same author.

The book "Unleashing Women In The Church"; preparing servant leaders to serve in the church,if read thoughtfully and prayerfully by both men and women, could provide answers for the way to develop effective help and leadership in the local church for the glory of God.

The workbook, if used the way it is designed, could awaken women to their potential and give them the confidence and skills to be leaders in many needed areas of their churches.

Because this is such a good work, I am sending a copy to my former church to become part of their library.

This book should be read by every pastor and Christian worker interested in seeing God working mightily in their church. It is probably the most comprehensive modern work available on the subject and is written by one who has distilled the essence of many years of effective ministry among women into a highly readable, practical manual for fruitfully deploying one of the most under utilized resources of the church. Don't hesitate - get a copy today - read it and apply it. This is not an expense item, it's an investment - for eternity.

I remember in school when they taught us about the Battle of Hastings. Harold was the Bad Guy who promised to Help William gain the throne and then [messed] him over right? Yeah well even at 11 I wasn't having any of it, I always used to hope that Harold would win even when I knew he wouldn't. So it always interested me, his story, his family his Life. The First time I read Warriors of the Dragon Gold I read it from Cover to Cover not stopping once for a whole day just because I couldn't wait to read the next bit. Cedric Sheildless is Just an incredible character as is Harold, Godwin and Many Other King Makers, King Breakers and Kings. The other Story involved is equally as Exciting the Story of Ethlred's Daughter who ran away with a monk and is determind to see Her family back on the throne of England. It is definately worth reading

This was a wonderful book. It begins with Canute's conquest of England...and ends with William's conquest of England. All the forgotten players are in the spotlight: the ancient House of Wessex, Earl Godwin, Harold II, Queen Emma, etc. King Canute was written out as a very real and compelling character. Likewise, other characters such as Estrith, Ulf, Tostig, etc. all were brought to life. If you enjoy the 11th century as much as I do, you will love this one!

WARRIORS OF THE DRAGON GOLD Is A Genuine Treasure!

Review Date: 2005-07-08
This is a book about multiple medieval characters: King Ethelred, Earl Godwin of Wessex, Edward the Confessor, Canute, Harold Harefoot, Hardicanute, Emma of Normandy, Harold Godwinsson, Duke William (who eventually becomes King William I, the Conqueror, of England) and most of all of Cedric, friend of Harold I, King of England. The first part of the book is primarily about Aelgifu, daughter of King Ethelred, who in history was also called "the Unready." Her first husband is the Earl of Northumberland and is murdered. She soon finds herself exiled to Normandy with a life she neither wanted nor expected. Still she plots to put a true heir of Ethelred on the English throne.

Kings come and go in this novel but the most memorable is King Harold who had the shortest reign. Cedric who was originally one of his Harold's father's thegns of note becomes Harold's best friend and supporter. His loyalty to Harold and the life he could have had costs him dearly but he never doubts himself or Harold.

The book encompasses a huge span of time, fifty-three years, and leaves no stone unturned and many questions are given logical historical answers. Even though the Norman culture is said to have given much to the English, one can't help but wonder what a different, less brutal England might have existed had King Harold I won the battle at Hastings in 1066. If he hadn't had to battle his brother Tostig, things might have been very different indeed. I too rooted for Harold even though I knew the bloody outcome.

Read this book, it is an exceptional story of love, betrayal, loyalties divided & lost, kingdoms won & lost, but most of all the spirit of human persistence and hope prevails!

It's hard to believe so many giggles and so much genuine insight can be packed into such a convenient format for quick reading or gift giving. If you are a teacher or you care about a teacher (or a soon-to-be teacher), you couldn't do better than getting this volume. In fact, get a few; because once you read it you'll think of several people who would love it. I've taught in the classroom myself, and it's obvious the author has great love for the kids. But she's nobody's fool when it comes to handling the challenges those kids and their parents present. You'll actually pick up some good ideas --- but they're wrapped in such good humor that you'll hardly notice. (This teacher DOES know how to teach!)
