I recently read Mrs. Harper's book on the fabulous banana slugs of the Pacific northwest. I have to say that I was pleasently
surprised by the amount of information contained in such a little book. I am currently keeping banana slugs in the zoological
institution where I work and needed a little extra information on their daily lives to provide the best care for them. This
book contained information ranging from their breeding habits to dietary requirements to morphology and everything in between.
Alice Harper is definitely the Slug Lady and hopefully we will see a updated edition of this book with even more information
in the near future. Still, I would definitely recommend this book to anyone preparing to studying these wonderful yet slimy
little creatures.

This book had clear pictures, and the directions/explanations were quite clear/easy to understand. Also, it has a set of beads
and the stuff you need with it, so that makes it easier, instead of having to go around the shops and searching for what
you need, and if u don't find it, there won't be a use of buying the book anyway! I think that it's great - but there should
be more designs for other types of jewelry.. but, overall, u're probably gonna find this book good enough.

My daughter got these from her grandparents for Christmas, she picked them out and it was hard to find them until we looked
on amazon. Yeah amazon! We love this site and she loves the books! She carries them everywhere with her. She is in first
grade so some of the words are hard for her but I love to read them to her and she helps out. Great Book!

This book is a realistic guide to life after integration written by a former multiple and her therapist.
The most helpful part was a discussion of the effects of missing the developmental stages of childhood. This prompted ideas to promote recovery.
Helpful for other multiples, and a testimony to the courage of the survivor author.

This book offers a powerfully renewing experience that builds spiritual practices to help readers share more fully in the
life of Christ and to bring what is learned into all areas of church life. This twenty-eight-week spiritual journey will draw
readers into daily time with God through individual reading and reflection and will gather individuals weekly with others
in a faith community for deeper exploration. This book provides diverse, imaginative settings for learning the spiritual disciplines
of prayer, scripture, deepest thoughts and longings and recalling where God has been especially present in each life. At other
times, members of the group will participate in community sharing to explore common stories, questions, and discoveries about
a relationship with Christ.

Conjuring Gretchen: The Saga of Virginia's Preacher Hypnotist. Galde Press, Inc. 2007.
I agree with the editorial comment that this short book is a "retrospective essay." Readers are introduced to the Reverend Carroll Edward Jay, a United Methodist minister, and to the attitude of that religious community toward Rev. Jay's use of hypnosis to help some of his parishioners with their problems. His wife, Delores, while undergoing hypnosis for pain from a back injury, related details of a past life and death as a German teen. When their story went public, their lives were threatened and their veracity severely questioned.
The book brings up ethical concerns regarding combining religion and hypnosis and connotes a kind of religious persecution in rural America in the 1970s.
Mr. Bryant incorporates a number of references, primarily to Rev. Jay's memoirs, "Gretchen, I Am", which is still available. The appendix serves to remind readers of the Millboro, Virginia reincarnation case first published as "Mission to Millboro" and a couple of subsequent books by the same author. If you have an interest in reincarnation evidence or the religious/social atmosphere of that period, you won't want to pass up this little delicacy.

I feel so sorry for Corey. She shouldn't have to deal with this kind of stuff at her young age. Her parents were clearly
not meant to be but they didn't have to act like that. This is a must read for horse lovers!

In The Cultural Feast; an Introduction to Food and Society, theauthors have sought, at the most basic level, to describe humans
andtheir relationships to food. More specifically, the cultural growing pains of food exploitation are investigated in great
detail. From the most basic and simple form of food acquisition to the complexity of organic chemistry and understanding
of organismal development, this introductory text charts the history of humans and food. It is seemingly intuitive that food
has altered culture, after all it is culture that serves as the main conduit for acquiring knowledge of techniques to most
readily utilize food sources. However, less recognized is the fact that culture has changed food. Although this is widely
accepted in some circles the instances of such change when thought of by most people today would probably relate to the genetic
manipulations that have become increasingly common within the last few years. To think of recent cultural practices that
change the face of food is appropriate, but humanity has a long history of such manipulation and in that context the manipulation
that is taking place today makes much more sense, and is less shocking when viewed in that light. It would seem that sections
of these chapters could be made into entire books or foci of lifelong research and so in this regard the authors' had a daunting
task in making this book. The overview of the interrelationship of culture and food was quite extensive and gave plenty of
examples of real world people who had passed through or were in each of the categories presented. Politics, religion, and
economics are all critical factors in human dietary patterns and were well represented. This book serves well as a generalized
introduction to the discipline of nutritional anthropology and leaves the reader with enough cursory exposure to fuel the
desire for more specific information on the topics introduced. *Please note that having given this book 4 stars relates to
its usefulness as a textbook...which is what this book is.

Curley by James A. Bryant, Jr. (Hamilton Books) Curley is a novel based on the life of Russell Norris, a Cherokee Indian from
the Qualla Boundary reservation in Western North Carolina. After Russell and his family move from the reservation to Cramerton,
North Carolina, a textile mill town, Russell's father takes a job as a foreman in the Cramer Cotton Mill. When Russell is
only fifteen-years-old, his father dies, leaving the responsibility of raising and supporting the family on Russell's young
shoulders. Determined not to die in the same mill as his father, Russell packs his guitar and hits the road, supporting his
mother and four brothers by playing music throughout the southeastern United States. Traveling and working in the Depression-era
south, Russell is forced to confront racism and his own battle with alcoholism. Ultimately, this is a story of courage, hope
and redemption.
