Old-fashioned doll book

This is a nice soft-cover book with very good instruction and patterns for making a basic old-fashioned doll - and her baby doll too. It provides patterns for the total wardrobe for the doll. It would be a great mother/daughter or grandmother/grand-daughter project to do together. Very easy to follow, even for a novice like me.

This book is excellent for a beginner. The instructions are clear and precise. The doll was easy to make and wonderful looking. The clothes are a bit more complicated, but are still relatively easy. I highly recommend this book

This book has simple straight forward instructions. The doll pattern is simple as are the clothes. This book is for the dollmaker who wants a doll that is beautifully old fashion, but doesn't have the time to search for an original vintage doll. The doll is approximatly 18" tall with a wardrobe that contains nightgowns, dresses, pinafores, overskirts, bonnets,a suit, wedding dress and cape with muffs. She even has her own dolly!

This is a beautiful book with beautiful dolls and great clothes patterns. It's a great gift to give a little girl her own doll with its own wardrobe. You could do the doll to look like the little girl and the dresses in her favorite colors. There is even a prarie wedding dress. The only thing that I didn't like was the suggestion to varnish the head, neck and hands to make the dolls look antique. This would make the dolls faces hard. I would prefer to leave the dolls natural, or if you really want to antique them, use a gel stain or tea dye to get the same effect without the stiffness.

Failed to meet expectations

This book has a good story and an interesting angle. I liked the involvement of the Indian characters, although the Indian aspects of the story were very superficial. It is a fun read, although lacking in any real depth. The characters are all very one-dimentional. Changes in attitude are sudden and un-supported by the story.

I found the writing style to be rather annoying. The verb tense switches repeatedly from past to present tense and back again. Sometimes in the same paragraph. It feels very sloppy.

In general, the book reads like a pre-teen chapter book, although the subject matter (government conspiracies and assasination plots) would preclude that particular audience. It's a shame, because this could have been a really terrific story.

Worldwide public awareness of UFO/ET phenomena and government suppression of facts behind them seems to never have been greater than now. I perceive the inspiration for Grady Lee Bryant to write this exciting, fast-paced, truth-conceived adventure to be almost visionary. He is to be commended, also, for assessing certain rumors or beliefs of the Mescalero Apache which were utilized credibly to relate their involvement in the Roswell, New Mexico 1940's ongoing UFO mystery....a feat in itself, since it seems many aspects of Native American cultures are closed to outsiders and are somewhat allusive. I enjoyed reading this most entertaining book.

I was spellbound by the information. Mr. Bryant has catpured the essences of Rowell. His insight into the tribal history and the events that take place are uncanny. I hope to see more of his work on the market soon. His talent as a writer is so refreshing. I would just like to say thanks for this history lesson Grady.

EXCITING NEW LOOK AT THE ROSWELL INCIDENT!

Author Grady Lee Bryant astonished me with his surprise novel of the year. Roswell One is the best fasten-your-seatbelts action thriller I've read in at least several years. Instead of reviving the often-repeated stories of a crashed spaceship, Mr. Bryant wraps the plot of this epic around the tales recounted by the Native Americans, the Apaches, whose reservation is adjactent to White Sands and not far from the crash site. Get it, read it. Excellent fiction, based at least in part on fact.

Dr. Kirksey's book is a good companion to the new book, THE NEW GUIDEBOOK FOR PASTORS. The new guidebook seeks to promote expository preaching and has a chapter by Mac Brunson on expository preaching. Dr. Kirksey's book goes into great detail how to do that kind of preaching. It is a must for every pastor's library.

" Dr. Franklin Kirksey has given the pastoral ministry a great gift in his book Sound Biblical Preaching. As a church planter and a mentor to church planters, I believe this book will help every church planter to a call to biblical preaching in such a way that will lay the foundations for the future of the new church. Dr. Kirksey has given an anthology of preaching and preachers that will be invaluable to every student of preaching. This fresh reminder of the call to ministry, and the committment to expository preaching and teaching is invaluable to the foundations of a new church. May we see the day as biblical preaching, God-called visionary leadership, sound growth principles, and just hard work will raise up millions of new churches who see their calling as world mission strategy centers, every Christian leader as a mission strategist, and every believer a kingdom mission agent in the marketplace. I believe that Sound Biblical Preaching will be a valuable contribution to see this new day a reality."

Dr. George W. Garner has served as a pastor for many years and as Association Director of Missions/Church Starter Strategist, 1990-2001, Platte Valley Baptist Association, Flagler, CO; National Missionary for Town and Country Church Planting, North
American Mission Board, SBC, 2001-2004; State Director of Missions/Leadership Consultant, Utah-Idaho Southern Baptist Convention, 2004-2006. Dr. Garner is currently serving under appointment with NAMB in a dual role to be a church planting catalyst in the Colorado Baptist Convention and to lead Ken Caryl Baptist Church to be a model as an Acts 1:8 Church Planting Church.

Dr. Kirksey's book, "Sound Biblical Preaching: Giving The Bible A Voice," is one of the finest books on preaching I have ever read. It is a must read for the newly called preacher, for the man in the midst of ministry and for the seasoned man of God who has preached for many years. I have been preaching God's Word for 39 years and I can say without equivocation that I wish this book had been available when I began my ministry. Get this book - it will renew your calling, enhance your ministry and help to enflame your preaching!

Let me start by saying that the publisher was an idiot when it put the Saddle Club books into paperback with photograph covers. If I had not read the back of this book I would have never been interested in it. I'm glad that I did though because this is an excellent book!

One of my favorite minor characters in the Saddle Club books is Skye Ransom, a handsome male actor about Lisa's age. While going to a large Pony Club event in California the Saddle Club meets up with Skye and learns about his problems on the set of his new racetrack movie. There are rumors going around about Skye that are threatening to damage his reputation and friendships on the set. The Saddle Club goes into full action helping their friend but when Veronica takes off during the Pony Club trials to go shopping, only one rider can help them out!

I love the Saddle Club Series! I especially love this book! Carole, Lisa, and Stevie are heading to California! They meet up with their friend Skye and decide to help him because he is about to loose his job! :O! The Saddle Club are more than willing to help and Veronica is more than willing to take Skye's place! When the Saddle Club's Horses are gone, and show time is coming up, there seems like nothing to do! I have read the Saddle Club series for a while and I just love about every book! Many people think Bonnie Bryant is getting rusty in her writing but I think it is just getting better! I hope everyone out there enjoys the Saddle Club as much as me! :)

This was a great book! The Saddle Club is at a riding camp Mosse Hill. First Stevie is trying to get Lisa to like Todd a boy who Stevie's boyfriend Phil has been hanging out with. But then when the girls go on a trail ride in the woods they see people working on the camp grounds and tell Barry the camp director right away but Barry already knows but was not knowing that they were going to be there so early. He tells the girls that the camp must be sold and if they what the camp to be saved they need to get a lot of money. The girls jump in to action. But they need some help from the riders at the camp. Stevie is doing her best to make every thing perfect and her friends think she is trying to make every thing perfect to much. She even doesn't what to hang out with Phil. And the big horse show is coming up then Stevie gets a great idea. Will they save the camp before it's to late?????????

This book is the second part of #67. Lisa has been placed in another cabin and the girl she had made friends with, Piper has disappeared! Carole is happy just to see Starlight and Stevie is mad because Phil is spending time with Todd, instead of with her. The Saddle Club learns bad news about Moose Hill...it might have to shut down. With the campers' help, they are determined to save Moose Hill....

I remember reading this when I was in 5th grade(I'm now in 8th)! It was good, I didn't know it was the Saddle Club (I had never read them before, all I knew was it was about horses).
I recommend the rest of the Saddle Club and Heartland

Stevie, Lisa, and Carole are at it again -- while trying to distract Stevie's attention from the horrible injury on her rear end (that makes it impossible for her to ride), Lisa and Carole tell her that they won't ride either if it makes Stevie feel better. To their horror, Stevie thinks this is such a wonderful idea and she profoundly thanks her empathetic friends. But can the girls really stay away from horses? Lisa and Carole are away on seperate trips, and Stevie's home at Pine Hollow, giving little kids lessons. Lisa finds herself on a trail ride with Skye, a famous movie star that the girls know. Carole ends up in a horse show, riding for the former Olympic rider that the girls know. And Stevie? Well, even with her injury, she has to ride to go save a young girl from disaster. But the girls made a pact -- if any of them rode, they would have to invite .... Veronica DiAngelo into their club. And the girls can't keep their secrets for long. Ugh. Is Veronica DiAngelo in their club for good?

After Stevie has a mishap and suffers a bad bruise, not serious that will keep her out of the saddle, Carole and Lisa take a vow that they will not ride horses until Stevie's injury is healed. And if they should break this SOLUMN oath they have to ask Veronic to join the Saddle Club. Even though Carole and Lisa go to completely different states they can't keep their promise. I rated this a seven because it does not illustrate the kind of "together forever" mood in the other books.

I could not put this book down! Three of the best Arabesque authors all in one book! The three stories were real - the cyber-reality-speed dating life for professionals of color! Each heroine had it together as well as each brotha' Of course not all cyber-reality-speed dating stories end up well (take from one who tried!) but these storeis were real -the doubts, the safety issues, the stigmas are all here! Melaine Schuster's "Chain of Fools" has a WONDERFUL treausre in her story - Walter Benton's "This is My Beloved" Please look on Amazon for the recording by Arthur Prysock - listen to the sample - you will buy a copy on the spot as I did! A wonderful - erotic- romantic find! Now I know where Barry White got his stuff!!!! Ladies! Please do this again!!!!:)

This book was different in terms of how each couple met (speed dating, reality show, internet dating...dating in the modern world - you gotta love it..lol!). I read this book over a weekend. The main reason I purchased this book was because of Niobia Braynt. I have read all her books and this short story was just as enjoyable as her books. This was my first time reading the other two authors. The second story I enjoyed. I like the relationships between the brothers and Liz's relationship with her hairstylist. Some parts in the story had me busintg out laughing. Also the story pointed out that sometimes just maybe our family/friends can get it right and hook us up with "the one." The last story I enjoyed as well. I liked how Mikel was like this is how I am and I'm not perfect. I found that refreshing when now a days guys front on who they are. All three stories had just the amount of "tugging at your heart strings" as well. So go ahead and pick up the book already!

A dream combination of three fine authors

Niobia Bryant, Melanie Schuster and Kimberley White join forces to create a wonderfully engaging anthology that focuses on finding love using unconventional, but increasingly popular, methods.

A consistently brilliant writer, Niobia Bryant excels again with "Could It Be" the story of Ameena and Marcus. Ameena is a fashion stylist to the stars who has made a good life for herself, but in the process has sacrificed meeting the man of her dreams. When one of her girlfriends invites her to go along for a night of speed dating, Ameena decides to give it a shot. During a night of meeting less than stellar men, she comes across Marcus and is quickly infatuated. Marcus has also been dragged along to the speed dating event by friends and never expected to meet someone like Ameena. They quickly fall into a romantic relationship, but will face tests that cause them to question whether their connection is real.

Melanie Schuster, another sure bet for a great story and widely known for her novels on the Cochran/Devereaux clan, introduces new characters in her contribution "Chain Of Fools". This story centers on Liz, an executive producer, who is talked into appearing on a reality dating show by her good friend and boss. Liz decides to prove her point that all men are only interested in surface characteristics by dressing up as a hoochie to appear on the show. However, the joke is on her when she meets the man of her dreams Romare under these false pretenses. Romare has been coerced to go on the show in a bet with his brothers and cousin. He doesn't expect to be taken with the type of woman who would participate in such a show, but quickly falls under Liz's spell. The story plays out in an interesting fashion as Liz tries to figure out how to recover from the mess she has gotten herself into; while Romare struggles with being attracted to a woman he never thought would have a chance to get to him. Melanie's story is wonderful and I hope we will see some of the supporting cast members in stories of their own.

In "To Have It All" Kimberley White ends the anthology with a nice contribution of her own. Screenwriter Lacey has made it big after one of her scripts has been made in to a blockbuster movie. The price of succeeding, however, has been the lack of time or opportunity to cultivate a romantic relationship. After being teased and taunted by her best friend about her lack of a romantic life, Lacey signs up for an online matching service. Her first encounter is with "Chococate Dream", also known as agent/attorney Mikel. Through in depth conversations online, they quickly become completely infatuated with each other. Their story, though brief, is fulfilling with both romantic elements and dramatic elements brought through the interactions of the main characters with friends and acquaintances.

This was a wonderful anthology that paired three great writers to form a cohesive, satisfying mix of three strong stories.

Contempt of Love (Platinum Rating 3.5)

The three romance writers' write an anthology that would make any anyone go look for love in the untraditional ways. Niobia Bryant, Melanie Schuster, and Kimberly White bring together women with status with men of status but will chaos happen before happiness can become a factor.

Niobia Bryant shows how fashion stylist Ameena Jones falls in love with Marcus Daniels who has the prestigious career of an entertainment attorney and they fall in love within twenty four hours but they later question whether it was all a mistake when a decision comes about who will do what and ultimatums are thrown decisions are made irrationally and love is put on hold to allow careers to flourish. With stubborn hearts and the will not to loss will Marcus or Ameena put aside their difference to allow love to follow through?

Melanie Schuster shows how deceit can cause problems beyond repair if one isn't too careful. Liz Walker is a executive producer of a television station but when her overbearing boss starts bulking up her tree about a social life she finds herself making a decision to get her way or at least she thought she was going to get her way but when stuff start to tumble she has to make a decision but not before Romare Alexander puts the Alexander love to the test but when he finds out the truth behind Liz he finds himself devastated and wanting answers but when Liz jumps to conclusions before asking question they find their selves at odds.

Kimberley White takes internet dating to the next step when she introduces successful screenwriter Lacey to entertainment lawyer/agent Mikel their whirlwind relationship takes off but when Mikel finds himself defending his business over Lacey's best friend he finds his relationship with her quick taking tolls because she questions his decisions but will love find their way back or will a friendship win over a relationship.

Niobia, Melanie, and Kimberley all take the untraditional style of dating to a whole new level with men who met standards and woman who exercise those standards to a point of undeniable love.

The book is great if your a football coach. It's full of useful drills. However, If your looking for techniques or info on how to be a better Linebacker this is not the book. A better book would be Lou Tepper's "Complete Linebacking". 101 Linebacking Drills is not a bad book, but it's purpose focuses on drills only.

I bought this book for more ideas on how to build a more complete linebacker, not just one with speed, but the average guy that every team seems to have. This book has given me plenty of ideas for drills that won't let a player get board and complacent in practice. If your looking for a variety of drills to get more out of your players, then this is definately your book.

I am the football player on the cover of this book. I played inside linebacker for 4 years at Penn State University under Jerry Sandusky, the defense coordinator. I was fourtunate to learn, practice and apply these drills. Coach Sandusky is an outstanding coach. He explains and illustrates these drills clearly in his book. I experienced first-hand the effectiveness of these drills and I strongly recommend this book.

I not only learned alot from reading this book but actually enjoyed the reading considering it's a text book. As someone who's trying to get back into the fashion industry after a 20 year hiatus; I feel that I have the knowledge I need to head in the direction I want to go now. I really liked how they used real companies for examples and at the end of each chapter they have an explanation of a job in the industry with comments from people in those jobs. There's lots of charts, lists of important contacts, calendars of events, etc that will be important to anyone starting a fashion business or wanting to find a job in fashion. It's worth the money if you can't afford to go to school for this.

I used this book for a class...

I bought this without seeing it. I thought 'we love penguins so it can't be bad'. It is. It follows the rhyme pattern of Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed only THIS DOESN'T RHYME. It was painful to read aloud. While the artwork is adorable, the lack of rhyme and flow just grated. The kids (7, 7 and 3) thought it was fun, but haven't asked for it again and haven't missed it since I put it in the 'give away' box.
