As a Special Education Parents Advisory Committee board member, we donated the entire series to our town library, pre-2, and 3-4th grades. Awareness education helps students, parents and teachers dispell misconceptions that we are all the same. It's OK to be different and here is why...This series clearly explains what the problem is and what tools there are to work with it.

A wonderfully user friendly book. I finally understood curriculum models. This book is very useful for both the Cert. ED. and the B.A.in Professional Studies. The latter being the degree I am currently studying for, with non other than Andy Armitage himself as one of the tutors. My only regret with this book was that it wasn't available when i took my Cert. Ed.

Nice Book About Merton's Life

Hello everyone! To me this book was terrific because it actually prompted me to order The Seven Story Mountain-Merton's personal autobiography. Spanning over the now famous Trappist Cistercian monk's life-born in France- son of a father with a Bohemian lifestyle - and motherless at the age of 6. Tom went through a lot of obstacles that as do we all. And I think THAT is where one of the largest draws towards him is. That tatse of humanity becoming saintly- sin purifying in black and white. He makes it easy to believe.

Jennifer Fisher Bryant did an excellent job covering as much as she could on Thomas Merton's life in just 192 pages. It is important to note that this is a young adult's book technically-the average adult can read through this within a few hours. But that's another reason why I personally found it wonderful-within a day I felt I knew a lot more ( well I DID know more ) about this spiritual man. This Trappist whom believed in interfaith dialogue! In remaining open to the truth, without jeapordizing his own religion, either! To me-Thomas Merton is one of just a few men that I believe have show us what being a true Christian is all about. You all take care-and enjoy this book-you deserve to treat yourself to it!

This is an excellent book. Four unlikely people become heroes to each other in this book. The 1923 backdrop is a perfect setting for this story. There is an innocence and freshness that you couldn't put into contemporary America. The story of the pilot (Maynard), the great uncle (Hector), the boy (Jason), and the aunt (Lexie) will stay in your heart long after their names fade. I first read this book over 10 years ago, and it is still one of my favorites.

When Katani reads about a contest for young entrepreneurs, sponsored by T-Biz! magazine, she knows that she has a good chance of pulling together a prize-winning entry.

Since she has been dreaming of running her own fashion design and advice business for ages, she's already full of ideas, and it only takes a few moments before she's hit on the idea of knitting scarves to sell. Ms. Pink, the owner of the Think Pink! boutique, even offers to sell Katani's scarves for the breast cancer fundraiser she'll be holding in a week. Katani's sure she can knit the twenty scarves, take care of the paperwork, and get together her business plan by Saturday, when her contest entry is due.

Even though Katani tries to keep the contest a secret, so she can surprise everyone when she wins, she can't help but let word slip to a few people, and, of course, she has to tell her best friends, the Beacon Street Girls. Soon, it turns out that several other people are entering the contest, and fellow BSG Maeve has even signed up for tutoring lessons from one of Katani's rivals! What's worse is that Katani has a book report and a math project both due on top of the contest. Can she really get it all done in time, all on her own?

I've only read a few of the BEACON STREET GIRLS books, and this one threw me off a bit by not being narrated in the first person. Still, I found it as endearing as the others, and true to the characters. We also have a nice little side plot with BSG Charlotte finally going on a date/not-date with Nick Montoya, a chapter definitely worth reading for any BSG fan.

I purchase iron-on transfer books for the Comfort Blanket Ministry of St. Ferdinand Church. It is a blessing that such books are still available - we use these iron-ons for painting and marker coloring which ultimately become squares in our ministry's beautiful blankets. Keep selling these kinds of books, we'll keep buying them!

WOW, Media exposes the corruption of Justice

Review Date: 2005-06-03
Although the publisher really messed up the format of this book, the document section begins with a bang and finishes with an explosion. The author's comments expose what the documents show, a joining at the hips of the executive and judicial branches of government. The separation of the multitude of issues in the Bryant case makes each issue easy to follow to its conclusion and shows why the TV NEWS CORPS hung their tails when the truth was exposed to the public; a good ole boy system and public prosecution. A great read for justice.

Read This Book and Make Values Stick!
Helpful Votes: 14 out of 14 total.
Review Date: 2000-06-15
The Values Book is an excellent source of information and activities to encourage values in your child. The authors cite changes in modern culture and use fun, creative methods to instill traditional values. Each chapter begins with a familiar rhyme recognizing a particular value. The authors then define the value, and discuss why it is important in a child's life. Ways to talk about the value are included, and activities to reinforce the value are suggested. At the end of each chapter, extra resources are listed concerning the value discussed. In an easy-to-read format, the book discusses 16 values like loyalty, respect, patience and cooperation. Parents will appreciate advice for ways children may react to values, and teachers will be pleased to find helpful hints to celebrate values in the classroom. Children will benefit from the home activities, like growing a garden and making up new solutions to problems seen on television. In addition to improving their grasp on teaching specific principles, parents themselves may find they have gained a better respect for values. Through helping children incorporate values in their everyday lives, parents will play a key role model for making the teachings stick with their children for years.
