Barbara White's newest publication, Christiana M.E. Church, will delight all those in need of good genealogical data from Christiana, Delaware. Presented in an easy to read print size, the book contains ecclesiastical history of the Christiana Methodist Church as well as church records. Nicely done.

Three cheers for historicals.

The Church and the Crown is a wonderful second adventure for the new team of the Doctor, Peri and ex Pharaoh Erimin. We find ourselves in the time of Cardnial Richeleu and to nobody's surprise there is trouble between the King, the Queen, the Cardinal and Lord Buckingham with the tardis crew landing in the middle of it.

Caroline Morris does a fantastic job in the part that seems to be made for her. The adventure fleshes out Erimin as a character who is both fascinated by the wonders of the modern age (16th century France qualifies as modern when you are from ancient Egypt) and strong enough to assert herself royally when the time calls for it. In the cover blub the writes wanted to remind the listeners that time travel with the doctor is in fact fun and they succeed.

Dr. Who vet Nicola Bryant should not be overlooked as she plays both Peri and Queen Anne with flair. It is by an odd coincidence the 2nd straight 5th doctor episode where she appears as two characters by using her normal English voice with the 2nd rather than her staged "American" voice. (The 6th doctor episode ...Ish was released between them) She shines in both roles. The act of giving Peri a best friend improves the character quite a bit.

One of the few things I have against the current David Tennant/Chris Eccleston series of Doctor Who are the way they handle historicals. Whenever they would travel to the past of the earth there was always some alien involved they never just went back and experienced or created history. (Actually thinking back the above statement could be made about Doctors 3-7 as well). This story is a welcome break from that pattern and I look forward to several more along those lines.

There is no question this should be purchased if possible after the Eye of the Scorpion.

Church on the Hill will give anyone that reads it an inspiration about God and how powerful he truley is. And anyone that will allow him into their life will find a certain feeling of fullness in their life. So many people walk in life without God, and Steven Pridemore will make you think twice about whats important and hopefully return the reader to God.

Sincerly,

I read this collection in college 25 years ago, and it's never left me. Voigt's way with metaphor, physical description, the *feel* of emotions, is unique. Time and again, she chooses a simple adjective which somehow illuminates a physical sensation perfectly (like in the opening poem, foreshadowing the coming of Fall, "before the heavy drop of the apples", or the sense of being a middle child, writing to her mother, who "grew in the shady places, rootbound, without blossoms"). For years, I've read passages of these to friends, who typically react "Who IS this woman... and why have I not heard of her?" I know Voigt's other books, but this one remains a favorite for its clarity, intimacy and subtle profundity. I thank her for it.

The best comprehensive view of this subject I have seen.

Bryant does a great job of describing the climate history of the earth along with the processes which have driven it. His discussion includes changes at the galactic, solar system, and planetary level. Evidence and uncertainties about greenhouse warming as well as potential effects of ozone depletion and nuclear winter. The final section of the book describes health effects of climate change including: droughts and hunger; warming and increase in disease vectors; ozone depletion and skin cancer, eye injury, and impacts on plants. Ample bibliographic data is presented. This is not a populist doomsday book but a valuable survey of the scientific knowledge on the subject.

Climbing the Heights is not only an inspired devotional but reaches into the very inner being which draws the thirsty soul into wonderful communion with the Lord Jesus Christ. So many books/devotionals are surface, but this one takes us deeper in our devotion to the Lord.Do you want to know God's heart? Do you need direction and clarification regarding God's will for you personally? These daily readings encourage us to pursue and persevere in our Christian journey. Our highest call is to know the Lord..not service..not head knowledge, but to know Him.

Spunky LaTasha loves her Southern church, the ladies in their beautiful hats, where "Mommy's chocolatey-brown skin peeks through the white-lace gloves she likes to wear." Each page has a poem and a watercolor of part of the congregation's experience, from baptism to Sister Beverly, the visiting preacher, to the church supper of "collards and ham and honey-glazed yams, fried chicken and black-eyed peas, and pumpkin pie." This book shows the joys of belonging to a religious community.

As a client of Jim Bryant, I can attest to the successful techniques used in his book, Coming Together. The exercises and ideas in this book are powerful for individuals and for counselors who work with clients. Using the imagination and visualization, it is possible to quickly experience transformation using these techniques. The book gives many real examples and provides guided meditations to help you experience the power for yourself. The book is written in an easy and natural language and would make a good gift for anyone who works to heal others. Thanks for this book!

Journey in Spiritual Growth
Helpful Votes: 5 out of 6 total.
Review Date: 2005-10-06
The book engages you in a journey of spiritual growth and discovers. It is best experienced in the small group environment. This title is the second in a series of small-group resources. The journey takes eight-weeks with daily exercises. This particular book is designed to explore the movement from shame, guilt and anger to forgiveness and reconciliation.

I have found the book to have a profound impact on my life. I found the journey to challenge me spiritually. This adventure is not a counseling session. It is like wrestling with an angel, you emerge from the struggle with a blessing if you ask for the blessing.

I found the journey very profound. The journey is about how we daily live our lives and our faith in a world of realities far from the idea. What a blessing this journey has been in my life. I pray you experience the same.
