Wario World is a great new platform game from GameCube, I have played the game throughly, and without this colorful strategy guide, I don't think there would be a chance in the world that I wouldn't be able to get through this game. Though, it's fairly simply this guide gives you helpful tips that you may not even now about. This is a must for all GameCube fans if you are having trouble finding those hard to find treasures and or just having no luck whatsoever trying to get past through the trapdoor stages to get to the crystals an order to defeat the bosses at the end of the stages. Don't bother looking up the internet for codes, cheats or whatnot, look no further: Wario World: Prima's Official Strategy Guide is here to save the day! It also gives you an outline of Wario's Worlds that you must have to go through. Getting toward the end of the game, you are beat. And thanks, Wario World: Prima's Official Strategy Guide, I made it through. And beat that Evil Black Jewel, which was fairly easy if you knew the strategy to beat 'em. It also includes the trial version of the Game Boy Advance game: Wario Ware, Inc.: Mega Microgames. It gives you tips on how to defeat the mini games from the GBA game. Wario World is a fun game, and can't wait for the sequal.

Christopher Bryan's modest, probing reflection on how to read Scripture was a fun read -- that sounds flippant, but I found his prose style entirely accessible and his witness welcome. The book doesn't go into a lot of depth; it's aimed at a general Christian reader. But his words lend assurance to those of us who search Scripture for truth and for a guide to our faith journey -- a journey that tries to navigate between the contortions of literal readings and the iconoclasm of liberal theology. He is especially cogent when he proposes how the Lambeth Conference should have approached searching for meaning in Scripture -- a love-inspired, serious approach other denominations grappling with issues of the day could learn from. I look forward to reading more of his work.

And God Spoke: The Authority Of The Bible For The Church Today by Christopher Bryan (C. K. Benedict Professor of New Testament at the School of Theology, University of the South) is a serious, yet highly accessible study of how the Bible is to be interpreted in today's modern world. Viewing the Bible as revelation, canon, authoritative and the Word of God, and applying its studied wisdom to making tough choices, And God Spoke is a profound and highly recommended theological wake-up call vividly summoning the reader's attention to the textual core of Christian holy belief.

No lightweight-a man of substance
Helpful Votes: 10 out of 10 total.
Review Date: 2003-03-27
One of the irritating things about what he is most remembered for-his gardening books-really quite distorts and sadly misrepresents the man, Beverley Nichols. This book goes some way to redressing the balance and this sharp witted, keen observer of the human condition has been fairly dealt with in this biography. The after effect, one hopes is that all three in the 'Allways/Glatton' trilogy will finally be available one day and thus the pinacle of his writing prowess will be there for all to see. Too long he was treated as a lightweight. Yes, he wrote for the lighter end of the market. But he was always coming up with surprises. 'A Village in a Valley' and 'A Thatched Roof', part of the Glatton era, are simply marvellous classics of English country life. The well perceived eccentricities, the sadness of spinsters' lonely lives and the wit of his characters are unequalled. There are times when he can really make you cry at a turn of phrase. His one-liners are smilingly memorable. This biography does go a long way to explaining this complex, talented man. We are left feeling sad that he is no longer amongst us, that no more gems of prose shall flow from him, yet happy that he lived and left behind a rich pallete of writing. My advice to anyone would be search around and get hold of these writings-many available on Amazon.com. The diversity, depth and pathos, not forgetting the humour, will impress you.

Great Biography

This was a great read, and gave true insight into one of the worlds most celebrated Garden essayists of the 20th century.

Connors brings to life the Beverley many fans never got to see, as many of his readers only read his Gardening books. Nichols holds to his credit several autobiographies, no less than five mysteries, several political novels, and multiple weekly columns in various American and British newspapers and magazines. Beverley was also a noted composer, and even appeared in film. His good looks and charm allowed him a very versatile carreer.

The novel unravlels fact from fiction, as many readers assumed his novels were all unadulterated fact. The truth is he mixed fiction with many of his books, lending a skewed vision of the author-and one that Connor does a brilliant job straightening out.

Mr. Nichols worked with Connor on this book, and had help from Beverley's life long companion/friend Cyril Butcher. The book outlines his upbringing in a whirlwind society of notable people and places to his fascinating life filled with so many that sometimes the biography reads more like a "Who's Who" of the 20's through the 70's. Beverley was friends or friendly with some of the most noteworthy people of the day, including Beaton, Coward, and Maughm. It is not a scandal biography, rather a warm portrait of an amazingly entertaining man.

The photographs in the book are wonderfully clear, and allow the reader a glimpse of his childhood, adolesence, and later years. Again, he is shown with many celebrities of his time.

There are bits that reveal a sad, depressed Beverley who struggeled with finance-and chapters about the socialite Beverley who never gave up an opportunity to hob nob and make new social alliances. Other parts reveal the very full romantic life of Nichols. All together, a charming portrait of one of Britains most notable men. This book is a must for all Nichols fans!

David Fletcher's BRITISH MARK IV TANK tells of the Mark IV tank which worked against the Germans from 1917 to the end of World War I. It charts the first tank-versus-tank actions against the Germans, British technology, and displays rare footage of the Mark IVs used against the Allies. An excellent addition to any serious, in-depth World War I collection.

In The Hands of an Expert

Review Date: 2007-05-15
British tank expert David Fletcher follows up his successful British Mark I Tank 1916 (Osprey's New Vanguard 100) with an even better British Mark IV Tank (New Vanguard 133), adding more detail on British tank operations in the First World War. Fletcher describes the Mark IV as the "first main battle tank" and this volume provides an appreciable level of detail on the tank's technical details, its production, unit organization and use in combat. The author succeeds in packing a considerable amount of detail into this short format and in a manner that assures the reader that they are getting `real' information instead of recycled boilerplate. Although the author is does not mention this, his role as a curator at the Tank Museum at Bovington has allowed him a great deal of hands-on experience with British World War I tanks and he even drove one for a BBC documentary. Nevertheless, the author's expertise on this subject is apparent on every page.

The author devotes 5 pages to describing the technical details of the Mark IV tank and several pages and photos to how the tank was built. After discussing the expansion of the British Tank Corps, the author then outlines the Mark IV's baptism of fire in Flanders in 1917, as well as its possible role in the cancelled Operation "Hush" and in Egypt. About 6 pages are devoted to the Battle of Cambrai, the highlight for the Mark IV tank. Final sections cover mechanical improvements, the Mark IV's role in 1918 fighting (mostly as a supply tank) and post-war activities. The author even mentions the role of a Mark IV tank briefly resurrected for home defense by the Royal Navy in 1940.

The color plates depict a Mark IV with fascine at Cambrai in 1917, a Mark IV winch tank adapted for the cancelled amphibious operation on the Belgian coast, a supply tank, a Mark IV under construction, a captured Mark IV in German service and several other Mark IV scenes. The B/W photos throughout the volume are excellent. The author provides an index, but no bibliography or notes on sources used. Overall, this is a well-crafted volume with a good amount of information on this subject.

Koenig offers a readable introduction to Bryan that covers the basics but does not fall into the details trap. The narrative flows well. Koenig offers some insights into Bryan's celebrated (and unlikely) political career. But Bryan was more than just a political figure; he was also a religious one. Koenig does not provide much insight into Bryan's rather stormy religious career. Bryan's most famed religious speech/book, "The Prince of Peace," is almost ignored in this biography. Still, this flaw is minor. For a good in-depth introduction to Bryan, Koenig's book is recomended.

A VERY BROAD PERSPECTIVE ON AN A TRULY AMERICAN HERO, WILLIAM JENNINGS BRYAN. A COMPLETE BIOGRAPHY OF AN INCREDIBLE POLITICAL FIGURE THAT CAPTURED THE SPIRIT OF MILLIONS OF AMERICANS.

The author is also alert to mention on pg 140 and 267, references to BLOODY BRIDLES WAITE. This character was highly controversial, yet respected amongst the common people, similar to Bryan. The history of Bloody Bridles in American politics is obscure, yet comes alive within this book.

A SOLID WORK OF RESEARCH ON A GREAT POLITICIAN. FRANK S. WAITE

Excellent introduction to poetry of Hughes
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 2000-08-30
This book features poetry of Hughes for children. The poetry carefully uses language geared for children, uses repetition more than images. This results in text that conveys to children as much the careful, artful use of language as "fine poetry". The illustrations by Bryan are a superb counterpoint to the text - again geared intentional towards children - but showing excellent use of color and a realism appealing to adults.

This book succeeds in being truly for children without being sacchrine or insulting. Don't think of this as an "ethnic" book, it is far too good to be marginalized.

This book not only captures the beauty of Langston Hughes for young readers but also portrays the beauty of African Heritage within the powerful meaning of the story of Christ's birth. I ended up buying two copies on my first round because it was such a wonderful piece of work for both chidren and adults!

This book is a wonderful experience for any child. It is a perfect book for an adult to read orally to their child (or group of children) and is easy for a child to read themselves. It is a fun stroy that not only explains how a cat got its purr sound, but also why cats and rats dislike each other. Highly recommended.

Cat is tricked by Rat into playing a drum.

Review Date: 1998-02-24
A cat and a rat were in the garden working on the vegetables. Cat's friendly uncle came to visit him to give him a small drum. Cat was supposed to keep the instrument for memory of his uncle. Rat came and saw the drum which he wanted to play. Cat would not let Rat play any music. So Rat tricked Cat by saying that he (Rat) was hungry and sick. So Cat was nice and let Rat sleep in his bed after serving some porridge. Then Cat left the house to go into the garden. He kept hearing someone playing a drum, so he returned to the house where he discovered that Rat was playing the instrument. Cat tried to eat Rat but ate quickly his own drum instead! And that is how Cat got his purr.

This is a must-have if you are interested in Civil War maritime history, the Blockade, or the Confederacy in general. Blockade runners rapidly evolved into a very specialized type of ship, capable of running their cargos at high-speed while adopting what would become known as stealth characteristics. This book, like most in the Osprey series, has a lot of information crammed into a small space, including information on early runners adopted from packet steamer designs, the evolution of naval technology at the time and even a little on the tactics employed by the small boats. The illustrations are what really makes the book though... beautifully done and technically accurate they make this book a unique resource.

Brian Browne Walker takes a whimsical but very real look at sprituality through a series of life exercises, without being preachy or referring to any religious or cultural beliefs, other than an incidental comparison to Native American philosophy. It is designed, in a very playful way, to focus one's attention on the joy and happiness available to you. Get out of your rut...be a crazy dog!
