A Concise Textbook with Wide Coverage

There are very few universities offering courses on acoustic transducers, especially on underwater applications. Therefore underwater (sonar) transducer design engineers generally start learning the basic principles from textbooks, while working in this field. These books, later, become valuable references. Oscar Bryan's book provides an excellent introduction to the "Theory and Design of Sonar Transducers", as the title of his book suggests.

It is concise but covers many topics, after an introduction, as can be seen in these chapters: Equivalent Circuits, Piezoelectric and Piezomagnetic Effects, Properties of Piezoelectric Materials, Simple Piezoelectric Vibrators, Composite and Low Frequency Projectors, Magnetostrictive Transducers, Hydrophones, Transducer Arrays and Beam Patterns and Problems of Transducer Design. The book can also be useful to system engineers who use transducers as a part of "sonar".

The reader will probably need some background in acoustics and electrical engineering to make the best out of this book, but any engineer will follow it without much difficulty. References and instructive problems have been provided at the end of each chapter; so it can be used as a classroom text as well, which it was originally intended for.

Have a sense of humor when you do these and it won't drive you nuts. And these puzzles really do make the vocabulary of the text STICK in your brain. It is really weird how that works. Keep in mind that some of the words are similiar meaning words -not the actual word he is asking for. He kind of forgot that point. Otherwise- have fun and relax.

AIDS; Fungal Pathologies, RNA Viruses Prove ENZYME Source
Helpful Votes: 6 out of 12 total.
Review Date: 2000-07-15
AIDS: Often Pneumocystis Carnii Protozoa? P Carnii has now be reclassified as P. Carnii Ascomycetes Yeasts with 93% the same DNA as Candida Albicans Ascomycetes Yeast. This was Done in 1992 at Koshland Hall, Barbra Bowman, John W. Taylor and White.

Penicillins are often the correct medicines to give to stop Protozoa for correct treatment. Protozoa are animals and Penicillins are protein blockers that stop all animal life. But now P. Carnii are called plants or fungi/Yeasts. Protein blockers promote the P Carnii Yeasts to lethal levels. Sulfas treat the Yests.

Virtually all AIDS deaths are now with in the norm for the average populace when they are not treated with Penicillins, and are treated with sulfas such as Septra-DS.

ENZYMES; EN=FROM, ZYME=FUNGI All yeasts make building blocks for the RNA/DNA viruses. Yeasts make enzymes for protein assembly. When a different yeast is active, different building blocks are now available to rare and low level viruses. There is no patient #1 in the USA or Western Hemisphere. Those P Carnii and HIV viruses have been here all along.

They usually have a bad time getting started. Both are widely distributed and ancient. The promotion of the P Carnii by the use of Nitrates in the lungs by Gay Men made the P Carnii exponetial growth. Following was the growth of rare viruses such as the HIV. The HIV is an after the fact event. Thousands of AIDS patients never had the HIV/Virus.

The exception is the RULE! How can you have an HIV/Virus causing an illness if you never had the virus? All of the pathologies of the AIDS illness are fungal, none are ever caused by any virus. The illness is subdued by anti-fungal medicines and bacterial growth limiters which are also Fungi Limiters.

AIDS was not a fatal illness untill the adjunctive diets and medicines activated the resulting P Carnii with chemical abuses of the hedonistic life styles of the mis use of nitrogen inhalents coupled with the outragous abuse of penicillins as well as other fungal provocative foods and drugs and life styles.

AIDS is a symptom of irrational miss use of chemical excursions, highs, false safety practices of penicillins all of which lead to protein failure hence the Thrid World Protein starved look seen often in AIDS patients.

Just say no to drugs like the penicillins unless you really have an bacteria or Virus. Then they are only to be used for ten days. Many claim the Penicillins or other protein blockers do not work on viruses anyway but they seem to many to have a positive effect. Sulfas can be taken in long term usuage, protein blockers will stop or slow all life forms.

Honest treatment with out the use of Lactose sugar as a pill binder (WHEY)and other profungal chemistries should help any of the other AutoImmunities such as the Arthritis, IBD's, LUPUS, MS, ADD, Schizophrenia ( which is now proved to be an AUTOIMMUNE ILL), etc.

Rational living offers the best defense againest idiopathic ills. This includes diet and limited medicines. Taking medicines to prevent ills only works with those that can be immunized againest, which does not include any of the AUTO IMMUNES.

Excellent tank action.
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 1997-07-22
Perrett, a tank expert, here covers the history of armored warfare through examination of significant battles, from World War I through Desert Sabre (Gulf War). He has avoided some battles which have been written about to the point of redundancy elsewhere, concentrating on the evolution of equipment and tactics and always keeping in mind the experience of the men inside the tank. The result is a happy conjuction of technical expertise and action narrative which is informative and a pleasure to read.
Highly recommended for the general reader of military history, and especially for students of armored warfare.

Star Wars meets Star Trek NG with a little Indiana Jones thrown in!
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2007-02-03
WOW! Let me begin by saying that I like sci-fi movies, but not a big fan of sci-fi books. I picked up Jaxxa Rakala because a friend of mine recommended it... and I'm GLAD I DID! What a story! It reminded me very much of Star Wars, with the kind of characters (beings) you would find on Star Trek Next Generation or Deep Space Nine. There were also some parts that were very Indiana Jones - action, adventure, mystery. Everything you can think of is in this book! The summary gives you great detail on what this book is about. Basically, the main character, Ken, loses his wife to an alien abduction, and spends the next few years obsessed with finding her and finding ways to get to her - all the while neglecting his 2 daughters: one a hormone driven teenager getting into more of her share of trouble, and the other a recluse who has barely spoken since her mothers disappearance. From this point on in the book, it's impossible to put it down. Those of you out there who are sci-fi fans, this is a great book to add to your collection. For those of you who aren't, pick this up anyway - it's a quick read, and i'm sure you'll find that you liked it as much as I did. From what I understand, the author would like to make this a series, possibly a trilogy - and I know that I cannot wait to find out about what new adventures these characters will go on!!!

...and the world will live as one.

These inspirational words from John Lennon from his 1971 mega hit, "Imagine" beautifully underscore this book. The gentle illustrations of John as a young boy to the man he became are sure to delight all ages. This is a wonderful way to introduce children to the Chief Beatle, the man who founded the World's Number One Band as well as to see what influences helped John create the poignant lyrics that he did. John's sad classic, "Mother" was about how his natural mother Julia turned him over to her older sister and brother-in-law to raise; "Imagine" was the vision that John had for a peaceful world where we all live as one.

Please read this book and share it with somebody. It is not only a deeply moving book, it is one that will resonate in the heart and mind as well.

A Beautiful Biography told by Story, and Various Media

I have been a very large fan of Josephine Baker for years. In fact my two favorite women from the 1920's, 30's, 40's etc, are Marlene Dietrich, and Josephine Baker. La Baker appears to have had a much harder life than Dietrich, in fact La Baker still struggled in her adult life, even though she became famous and wealthy. This book walks one through the full life of Josephine Baker, using story, pictues, and art media. This is one of the best books, and I recommend it to anyone, who would like to know more of the Women named Josephine Baker ~

Wonderful dog book

This is a very cute book about a beloved Scottish terrier, Tammie. Tammie does not take well to being left out of the family's adventures, so he tags along whenever possible. The illustrations are quite charming, with Tammie winning your heart when he looks sad at being sent back home. This book was first published in 1935, so that age is preserved in the illustrations.

This is a good read along book, especially the tag line which children will come to expect. It's a warm comforting story from another time when the world seemed much smaller and gentler. I advise this book for anyone who likes Scotty dogs (and _who_ doesn't?) or those with children still young enough to want a bedtime story read by an adult.
