I really enjoy the rich history of the isles of the Five Fingers. It puts into play a lot for the imagination in entertainingadventure hooks that I personally plan to make 'come to life'. Yes, I would recommend this book for you and your players' fix in villiany, piracy, and organized crime. It is quite compatible with other source books, such as 'The Complete Scoundrel' and 'Cityscape', to name a couple. It has a great campaign setting laid out for you and makes a great basis in creating one of your own design. The book includes many extras as well: Feats, Prestige classes, etc. Get it whilst you can, because a lot of the earlier publications from Privateer Press are quite expensive and putting off the purchase of this gem could result in having dish out a lot of extra money in the future when it becomes out-of-print, much like its predecessors.

Mr. Malessa takes us on a tour of Eastern Germany during WWII and explores the plight of ethnic Germans and their struggles to survive the holocaust as well. The story follows a mother's tireless efforts to save her children from death, ultimately Mr. Malessa takes you down a dark road, a very detailed and well researched novel that gives you the feeling that you are in the moment with the characters.

A beautiful blend of art and wit.

This is a simple story about curiosity told in rhyme. The vocabulary might seem a little much at first but I have known 6 and 7 year olds who enjoyed the story. They were able to understand the plot because of the expresive nature of the rhyme and the beautiful pictures, and they learned new words in the bargain. The characters will never be forgotten, and will be invited over for bedtime again and again.

Top Cat Gardener Nichols

Beverley Nichols writes, as always, with gentle, dry humor in Garden Open Tomorrow. He provides a refreshing look at a bygone day and reminds the reader, by example, that a garden is, indeed, a place of constant renewal, even when it makes much work for the gardener. Among his several cat companions, he is tops!

Brilliant first novel!

In Dawn Bryan's first-born novel, she showcases motherhood and pregnancy in a gorgeously unique way. As her narrator is the unborn baby, otherwise known as Gerbil, she's able to show pregnancy from the inside out - literally. Her use of language is flowing and lyrical and rich, although at times a bit confusing. Gerbil shows us her world, and through her unborn eyes, we see things in brand new ways. She is completely unsympathetic to her mother, and yet Maeve still has the capacity to break out hearts and we ache for her in a way that Gerbil either can't or won't.

Ms. Bryan herself describes the novel as "a love story for four people" and it truly is that. The relationships between Maeve and her husband, her young son, and unborn Gerbil are real and painful and beautiful.

I look forward to seeing what Ms. Bryan treats us with in her next novel.

Very Good For The Advanced Shotokan Karateka
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 3 total.

This is not a book of "How To" competition techniques. It is about flexibility, foot-work and advanced kicks. The 6/7 fighting techniques are not for karateka below 3rd Kyu. If you are a serious traditional Karateka who wants to train for kumite, this is a good buy.

The collaborative effort of Written Bryan T. Froehle (Executive Director of the Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate, Washing, DC) and Mary L. Devyn's Gold is fun and easy to read. The colorful characters and the lessons learned make this story excellent for reading with children; the rhyming is great for beginning readers. A perfect bedtime story, it gives parents and children so much to share!
