This is as good a book about tanks as one would wish to have. Perrett does what so many military historians neglect to do: he explains what a weapon is for, what a weapon does and why it is needed. He is both comfortable with the subject-matter and capable of stringing a sentence together - again, a rare combination among military historians. And in a series of self-contained chapters, he takes us from the fields of Cambrai in 1917 to the armored flanking movements of the 1991 Persian Gulf War. Particularly impressive are his stories of the World War One armored car units, as well as his account of the British yeomanry during the Battle of Alamein 1942. His judicious use of first hand information gives you a firm impression of what it is to live, and die, inside these machines.

This is a collection of one hundred love poems by the writing team of Barri Bryan. Some are long. Some are short. Each inspire romance, longing, and the many other complicating emotions that being in love can cause.
***** I found myself making very light pencil marks next to the titles I enjoyed most for quick reference later. Personally, my favorite is titled "So Sew", but there are so many wonderful poems that it is hard to pin point only one. A perfect five star collection! *****

Lynn Evans needs a man. Not just any man, but a charming, tall, dark and handsome one that can make her ex-husband extremely jealous. After all, he's the one who left her and he's the one coming back to their high school reunion with a date. She's got to show him that she doesn't want him any longer, even though she does.
Trace Randolph needs something, and Lynn is the only woman who can give it to him. After finding out that his father is messing around with Lynn's mother, he thinks the only way to save his father's life is to break them up. After all, Lynn's mother must be a vamp, from the way his father is panting after her. Lynn just has to help him break them up!
Trace and Lynn make a deal, she'll do what he wants in return for Trace doing what she needs. But what she needs may surprise everyone involved, including Lynn and Trace themselves. Sparks fly, in more ways than one. He's never met a more opinionated and stubborn woman, and she's never met a more contrary and controlling man. But they have a deal, and both will do whatever it takes to complete the charade.
Charade caught my imagination tight in its grasp from the first page on. I enjoyed the constant verbal and sexual friction between Trace and Lynn and the fact that it continues even after the lovemaking, made Charade much more realistic and much sexier for me than the fictional "happily ever after" that many romances have. The authors definitely open your eyes to the fact that relationships are not always easy and not always pleasant, but that they can be truly workable, enjoyable and fantastically sexy and romantic!
Three cheers for an HONEST romance that I truly enjoyed!

I love that this book exists! I've always had a CHER doll but I never owned any of her fashions, but I definitely remember looking at them at Toys 'R' Us when I was a kid. I even remember her wearing many of them on her own show back in the 1970's. The photos are fun and entertaining! This is a great addition to any Cher collection!

What a fabulous message and book! The authors winds a lovely tale of a child's progress through her emotional growth and lifes adventures. Using rhyme and words of wisdom about gratitude and appreciation, Ms. Evans gives life lessons that we all need to embrace. The settings, as illustrated by the award winning Collier, are beautiful and have a life of their own. Evans is a true poet and wordsmith and this is a book that will appeal to all ages and life situations. I can't wait for her next books and think this first edition will be a true collectors item in the near future.

Since Amazon didn't post an editorial review, here's the description from the back of the book to help you decide if this book is for you: "The wild and wonderous novel of the glory days of sailing ships -- of Cleo Penhallow, a tantalizing beauty who is all things to all men and more ... Cleo propped herself up on her elbows and studied Mark's slim body. She reached over and playfully unbuttoned his trouser front. He didn't move, instead he closed his eyes and smiled. She quickly stripped off her undergarment and like a mountain wildcat she pounced upon him, her warm breath exciting him all the more ... There is a sub-plot of murder as we follow the sailing routes around the world during the gold rush and tea trade era, before the advent of steamships."

Anyone who wants to understand how the jury verdicts on OJ or the Menedez brothers will get the info in this book. Once the jury is selected, the conclusion almost happens without bothering with the facts. If your lawyer doesn't know this, hope the other lawyer doesn't either.

Excellent compilation of African American Holiday Lore

Having received this book personally from Charlemae Rollins when I was 4 or 5 years old, I have treasured the stories, poems, and recipes for as long as I can remember. Through her stories, recipes, and first person narrative Ms. Rollins provides us all with a glimpse of the significance of the Christmas season to our slave ancestors, and the tiny bit of joy they were able to enjoy each year, if only for a short time. More contemporary stories and poems helped round out the happiness and pain of the holiday season as experienced in the African American community. For my part, my favorite story (for the past 40 years) is "How Come Christmas," a folk tale that beautifully integrates the presence of Santa into the birth of Christ in a way that makes perfect sense to children, and is charming to adults.
Thank goodness this book is still available! If you are interested in Christmas stories, traditions, food, etc. it is a MUST READ. Additionally, it adds an important dimension to American History and traditions from an African American perspective.

Progress in the field of genetics is moving faster and demonstrating accomplishments unlike ever before. Genes marking for specific diseases and methods in gene therapy are evolving rapidly and being incorporated into daily patient care. Ethical issues are under constant debate by politicians, journalists, and laymen.
All health care providers need to stay informed on the research, the applicability to patient management, and the moral issues involved. Case Studies in Genes and Disease tackles all these issues for those who need it most: busy clinicians who daily see patients needing to know how advances in genetic research and therapy affect their health. Written for practitioners who are not geneticists, it does not presume an expert's familiarity with the subject. From fundamentals to specific diseases to "the dark side" of genetics, Case Studies in Genes and Disease will educate, intrigue, and astound you.
Any strong structure needs a solid foundation. As more is learned about genetic causes of diseases, more can be done to manage and heal the patient. The building blocks provided in Case Studies in Genes and Disease are complex knowledge presented in a readable, clear, and easy-to-understand format. Utilizing case studies to elaborate and enlighten, the end result is this practical, current, and beautifully illustrated work on how the human genome works.
