An excellent book for those interested not only in wolf conservation, but for those interested in the ongoing debate over the role of humans in the natural community. The various authors each bring in uniqe perspectives and ideas about what should and should not be human responsibilites towards shaping the ecosystems we live in. I was impressed with the great variety of opinions and ideas that are in this book regarding wolf conservation. This book definitely made me think about my ethical, social, and political values and will no doubt continue to help shape these values in the future when I re-read the essays in here.

Review Date: 2001-05-23
Wolves And Human Communities: Biology, Politics, And Ethics is a compendium of informative commentary by leading contributors and experts in the field of wolf restoration activities in the American west. These essays address complex ethical, biological, legal, and political concerns surrounding wolf reintroduction. The contributors specifically comment on the social, cultural, and ecological values that are a part of the on-going national debate. Specially addressed are the views of stakeholders in the Adirondack decision; historical trends in public perception of wolf restoration; the legal and policy context for species preservation; biological and political lessons gleaned from the Yellowstone, Isle Royal, and Great Lakes states wolf restoration experiments; and the meaning of wilderness in both humans the wolves. Wolves And Human Communities is a seminal, significant, highly recommended contribution that will be greatly appreciated by environmental and animal rights activists, ecologists, as well as wolf population and habitat restorationists.

Unseen Plans

What a realistic, relatable presentation of the modern-day matrix. There are two realities in play...one is seen and one is unseen (by most). Awaken your senses to the behind-the-scene plans of the Evil One and his cohorts. You will find yourself in these "letters" and will ever be the beaten and bloodied victim unless you take hold of the One who can open your eyes and win the battle on your behalf.

A New Perspective on the Spiritual World

Review Date: 2004-01-03
A modern version of an old classic! Creatively written, this Christian book deals with the things you can't see; the matrix of the spiritual world. Beyond your eyes, there's a talented and well equipped organization of demons working for your soul. They imply thoughts and suggestions at you each day, even while you sleep. Why did I think that thought? What is wrong with me? How did I get in this mess? Why am I so enticed by certain things? Can I have freedom from this sin? If you have ever had questions like this then please read this book and escape the matrix! (See Ephesians 6:12).

Year of Fear - too much fun to wait
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2007-09-28
Brian Senn's A Year of Fear provides 366 horror film reviews, one for each day of the year, rather like a tear-off desk calendar between covers. The book is such fun that I find myself reading review after review instead of waiting for the specified date attached to each. Senn liberally quotes other critics and interviews with stars and film makers, often juxtaposing the press book hype with critical slams or comical reminiscences by the film's cast and crew.

The calendar motif is punctuated by a mention for each date some historical event; some are trivial, some are notable. Examples: for The Day the Earth Caught Fire, July 10, Senn cites the record high temperature in the U.S. (134 degrees F in Death Valley, California); for The Wasp Woman, July 9, he cites the birth of star Susan Cabot; and for Tower of London, July 6, Senn cites the birth of Richard III in 1483.

Praise and blame are generously assigned as deserved in concise and entertaining reviews that look past the standard film book fare. It's a fun read, and I recommend it highly.

Entertaining and Punny Look at Horror Cinema

Ever wanted to know what horror flick to watch on, say, your birthday, wedding anniversary or the anniversary of the discovery of Titan, Saturn's moon? Then look to horror cinema expert Bryan Senn's informative, entertaining and punny A YEAR OF FEAR. Senn (and the occasional contributor) deliver up intelligent reviews of old black and white classics, more recent horror efforts and just about everything in-between, from 50s giant bug flicks to 80s ALIEN rip-offs and much-maligned slasher classics.

What I like most about the reviews are that they're relatively spoiler free and give you a flavor for the flick without providing a detailed synopsis. Thanks to his longtime involvement in horror cinema criticism and commentary, Senn has a wealth of information to draw upon and sprinkles the write-ups with informative and insightful quotes from stars and behind-the-scenes personnel that make the entries educational even if you thought you knew all you needed to know about THE DEADLY MANTIS or THE 30 FOOT BRIDE OF CANDY ROCK.

I don't always agree with Senn (he loves LAKE PLACID and hates FRIDAY THE 13TH) but even when we don't see eye-to-eye his reviews always provide an interesting approach and an argument he stands behind. Best of all, though, his reviews of things I have not seen or films that are gathering dust in my memory banks make me want to rush out and see them now.

And how can you not like a guy who can appreciate the great Klaus Kinski's turn in the underrated creature feature, um, CREATURE?

Concise!

This is probably the most concise how-to snowboard book I ever read and I read many. Two pages to teach you how to set up your equipment, two pages to teach you how to turn, two pages to teach you some freestyle maneuvers including ollies and 180 spins, well you get the point. I'm giving this five stars because snowboarding is just that simple! I've read 300+ pages book on how-to snowboard and that to me is just insane. I am not professional or even expert but I can make nice carve turns and I think that is what everyone who is starting snowboarding or reading these books want to achieve: to make nice turns. You are not going to be an expert or the next Shaun White just by reading books. The books are only going to help get started and keep the initial stages a less painful experience. After that, it is up to the reader to practice and practice some more in order to reach the next level.

E-Business is NOT easy, but it CAN be made simple.
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2001-01-28
E-Business to the Power of 12: The Principles of. dotCompetition is a breakthrough! For a long time we've had the 4P's of marketing; now we have the 12 P's of E-Business.

In order to really understand and effectively manage anything, such as an electronic business, you must have a 'unified' model that everyone understands and is able to manage respectively. In other words, the business itself needs to be viewable in 'context' so that you can gauge where you stand at any given time and make smart management decisions accordingly. In this fast paced, totally accountable world of electronic business, this is the core to success.

Many companies today, tend to engage in e-business projects; ventures or transformation long before a unified business model and a context for both development and management is established. Many important steps such as learning, planning, and thorough strategy analysis are either skipped or rushed prior to execution; steps that will ultimately maintain alignment between business development, operations, management and marketing in an electronic environment. As a result, electronic enterprises, in particular, due to typically rapid evolution, pay a price for a long time to come trying to manage what becomes unmanageable.

Large and small enterprises alike are also sold e-business solutions prematurely, as "the" answer to their problems and often from vendors ill-equipped to best handle the job within the "context" of the e-business management strategy; something many enterprises simply do not have.

At a time when there is dependency on a host of outsourced companies to operate aspects of your business outside of core competencies, and assuming it's a solid business to be in the first place; ensuring that certain principles and phases of development are adhered to is vital to long term success.

Thomas Power, co founder of Ecademy.com, after thousands of interviews with Internet luminaries such as Dell, Gates, Bezos and Ballmer, successful e-business operators and the like, can help "power" your business with "E-Business to the Power of 12: The Principles of. dotCompetition. Not only are these principles powerful, they are also organized in such a way that they operate as a 'platform', on which you can develop an e-business management strategy and better streamline business development, operations, management and marketing in an electronic environment. You will now know where you stand, what many of your issues are and how to proceed.

Once you've read the book, you can interact with Thomas Power and co, along with e-professionals in major markets around the world at Ecademy.com. Learn, network and develop your e-business within the context of this principle-centered platform. Ecademy.com is the place to be if you're involved with electronic business.

The author of this book, Larry McCabe, is re-releasing books that have gone out of print for one reason or another. This particular book is an old friend. After I received it, I went into my library and found a copy. It has been in print in one form or another for 25 years. Most instruction books don't last anywhere near that long. First, this book (as the author warns) is not for beginners. You need to be familiar with the movable blues scales we all use. If you are playing out, and feel comfortable with the whole neck, get this book. The style of lead is closer to Gatemouth Brown and Freddie King than anyone else. If you don't know who these men are, buy their CDs. You are in for a treat. Please read the author's introduction. There is a lot of good info there. The Tab system is the older style. It should take about 30 seconds to adjust. It's actually easier to read than the current form. If you consider yourself a Rock guitarist instead of Blues, you really could use this book. If you use these solos as a "how to", instead of just memorizing them, they will give you some new weapons. You know, for scaring the heck out of other guitarists.

Improve Your Communication Skills and Your Life...

Review Date: 2007-04-07
My kids and I listened to this audio 4 times on a long car ride. Amazing results! Their listening skills improved, they began speaking in a consistently better tone and their non-verbal communication habits also improved dramatically. We still actively work on the lessons in this CD and continue to make improvements. My daughter no longer looks at the floor and mumbles harsh demands. Occasionally she slips and I gently remind her of the right 'communication decision'.

I benefited from this CD even more than my kids. Everyday I practice the 'principle decisions' that Luke refers to: giving others my undivided attention, communicating to others that I truly understand, using words wisely, staying aware of my non-verbal signals/body language and avoiding arguments... These ideas may not seem new or profound but they are! The information and examples in this CD increased my awareness of how I listen and speak to others. I sometimes focus on just one of the 7 principle decisions throughout my day. Quick example, the "verbal jack", give someone, anyone an honest and sincere compliment or acknowledge their hard work. Do this 5 times in a day and tell me you don't feel like a new person.

The advice in this CD sounds so simple and obvious when you hear it. BUT these common sense skills elude many people. Don't be one of them. The production quality of this audio is excellent and Luke's young enthusiastic voice inspires confidence. Keep your eyes and ears open for more valuable resources from this author! I'm now using this information to improve the exercise DVDs I produce.Swiss Ball Abs and CoreSwiss Ball Abs and Core
