An excellent companion to the previous volumes. Detailed illustrations and wonderful content make this a must have for all pre-hospital care providers. I love it and give it 5 stars..Brady does it again.

A must-have for advanced prehospital care providers!

Although DeGowin & DeGowin is the gold standard of physical examination texts, Bledsoe provides the paramedic student with an excellent background in patient assessment. Most one-volume paramedic texts are somewhat skimpy when it comes to the topic of physical examination techniques. This book is an excellent supplement. It also makes lesson planning easy since it follows the National Curriculum nearly to the letter. I currently use it as a resource for lecture material on the relevant topics for the paramedic and CE courses I teach. There is an incredibly thorough section on physical examination techniques, broken down by body system. It is quite in-depth, even covering ophthalmoscopic, otoscopic, ROM, and advanced neurological exams. Even though the aforementioned techniques are infrequently used in the field, it provides an excellent springboard for paramedics that work in the Emergency Department, as well as those that may wish to pursue the up-and-coming "paramedic practitioner" program that is now on the drawing board at the national level. After presenting physical exam techniques, they are brought together into complete assessments, with rationales presented for each component. This book also includes the standard communication and documentation sections. This book comes highly recommended, as well as volume one of this series. If volumes 3, 4 and 5 continue the tradition, the textbooks will most likely become the premier advanced prehospital education series.

Excellent Foundation for Paramedicine!

An Excellent set that finally manages to cover all the topics needed for a firm foundation in Paramedicine. Explainations and visuals are insync with each other, alot of other Paramedic books out there are quite confusing. Topics covered are relative to the field and explained as straight forward as medicine can get. Paramedic books are often overwelling in presentation or they lack general knowledge and information needed. It was a organized wonderfully and easy to find selective topic. Great for old and new EMS personel. Many Paramedic courses have adopted this 5 volume set as their main text. Brady has provided an excellent informational and educational set of text books. My Basic book was not as easy as these are to take in. Brady created 5 great volumes; Introduction to adavance prehospital care, Patient assesment, Medical Emergencies, Trauma Emergencies and Special Considerations / Operations. They had an excellent staff to compose such high quality textbooks. You can't go wrong with this set of books!

The books follow the 1998 DOT down to the last word. The material is layed out great. The cardiology chapter is good but most of us in class had to purchase other books to understand EKG's and the ACLS algo's are out of date. You cant go wrong in the purchase of this set.

This book is incredible, but you should hear Bryan Cutshall speak on this subject in person. He's my pastor at Twin Rivers Worship Center in St. Louis.

Pastor Cutshall is so anointed with the depth & understanding of God's word --- and his delivery of it is incomparable. He brings the word to life and makes it so life applicable.

Great book, Pastor!!!

I think the book is creative and life altering.

This book has true insight to life. The comparison of life to the journey of the Hebrews is a metaphoric work of art. This author has talent and colorful writing skills. Mr. Cutshall knows what he is talking about. I especially like the evaluation pages at the end of each chapter.

A Fun and Rare Look at some of our Presidents

(originally posted May 7, 2000)
This is one of those rare books that could easily be overlooked, which is a shame because of its value in bringing some of our early 20th century Presidents back to life. Author Charles Willis Thompson was a journalist who covered and personally knew figures like President (Theodore) Roosevelt, Taft, and Wilson. From first-hand experience, Thompson's descriptions of their different personal and administrative styles, as well as their varying relationship with the press are fascinating-- his level of detail and personal knowledge would be impossible to replicate.

Originally published around 1929, it's amusing to hear Thompson speak of these people in contemporary terms. But the real charm of the book lies in its humorous anecdotes-like T.R. on the campaign trail and his walking in on his staff's poker game. Thompson writes in a very straightforward manner, never shying away from revealing his impressions-while his admiration of Roosevelt is obvious, so to is his impression of President Harding as little more than an imbecile.

The book re-humanizes these famous leaders and dismisses some of the widely-accepted misconceptions that history has perpetuated about their personalities. When a historian writes for the hundredth time that Roosevelt was a "vigorous, adventurous figure," does this really tell us anything substantial? A prior familiarity with these Presidents or the time period would be helpful as it probably wouldn't work well if you're looking for an introductory book or in-depth biography about these men. A fun read for any history buff...

Overall, THE Best Novel Ever Written - Period!
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.

Rage of Night is an un-put-down-able page turner that shatters the traditional boundaries of its genre. It is a powerful epic fantasy, but reads like a Dan Brown thriller. The suspense will keep you on your toes, and the plot is as sick and twisted as anything Stephen King ever created. Best of all, you can't see these ones coming!

Terry Goodkind fans will find a similar depth of emotion and purity of philosophy in the thinking, realistic characters. It is as if their troubles and triumphs are cast directly into the reader's mind - and done so with unparalleled brilliance.

If ever there was a book worthy of being called a "Must Read", Rage of Night is it.

Rage of Night is by far the most original fantasy - nay, THE BEST debut novel - ever.

The most moving, original tale since LotR, and addictive

This book is a must-read for Terry Goodkind fans. For fans of Dan Brown, Stephen King, Robert Jordan, George R. R. Martin, Dean Koontz, Raymond Feist, Ann Rice, and, well, pretty much anybody else too. This is a book for lovers of all great works, all fantastic stories.

Rage of Night is the most original fantasy - or any other book - I've ever read. The characters jump right off the page from the get-go, and the story is crafted in a fast-paced, attention-grabbing way, like the DaVinci Code, so that you just can't put the book down.

There's enough mystery and action to fill three volumes of each type. The plot isn't twisted with clutter and cliches, like most books today, but still remains unpredictable. Every new event is a surprise that you'll never see coming.

But even more important that its originality is its realism. The characters show emotion with more power, more passion, than in any other book since The Notebook.

This is one of the best examples of a cross-genre book ever. About the only thing its missing is a romance story, but even that is hinted at (future books?). Everything else, from action/adventure's good old fashioned hack-and-slash, to the modern thriller's classic frantic-search-for-information, is there, with unparalleled brilliance.

Lovers of horror won't feel left out in the cold either. Darion, the monster, lets you know exactly what it means to BE evil. You get to see the story from the eyes of the bad guy, too. For those of you who are squeamish, don't worry: while some parts are quite graphic, they aren't excessive.

Rage of Night is by far THE BEST debut novel. Ever. Written. Period.

The book provides a very good explanation of why real estate is a good investment. It is written in an easy to understand format and gives you some new concepts in investing in real estate. An excellent book at a good price.

It gives you a clear concept in real estate investment.

The author has taken on a task rather complicated for the ordinary homebuyers (the buying process) and broken it down into understandable segments. The concept and approaches are good. First time homebuyers will find it useful while experienced investors, like me, will not feel boring. If you are considering buying real estate, I will strongly advise you buying this book for reference.

I really enjoyed this book and its multiple perspectives on the adventist youth's life. Andy Nash's concise detail and variety in writing was very engaging, and Victors entertaining and real stories kept me laughing. Bryant also inspired me to hold on in this rough ride.

Review Date: 2002-10-18
This is a 15 chapter, 3 appendixes book that is only 270 pages, yet it gets you into RPG ILE in a short span of time. The author does a great job of specifying the changes from RPG III to RPG IV. I like the way a chapter was devoted to each specification change from Header, File, D-spec, Input , to the Calc spec. There are chapters devoted to Free form expressions using the EVAL opcode and the book does a good job of covering the many variations of the EVAL expressions. The new RPG Built-in Functions are covered, where there is a conscious move to change from RPG III's use of conditioning and result indicators to RPG IV's appropriate Built-in Function, eg., use of %FOUND bif with the CHAIN opcode to return a true value when a record is found, whereas, in the RPG III way the resulting indicator was turned off when the record was successfully found. There is a chapter devoted to Procedures, Subprocedures, and Prototypes, and the author takes you through the process of declaring and defining the procedures in actual coding examples. There is a chapter devoted to the new date/time operations and date bif's. These go a long way to simplifying date handling operations that used to take several lines of code. All in all, a good jump start into RPG IV for the person with knowledge of RPG III.

It's like Marcy knows me personally! There is so much that I could identify with! I love the way she presents the material! I have struggled with much of what this book covers for many years and have discovered that I'm not alone and that there are healthy ways to deal how I feel. I also thought about many other people who could use this book. I'm buying more to share! Marcy has a great sense of humor and I encourage everyone to read this book; if not for yourself, to better understand someone you know. There's something for everybody!
