Bruno Books

As a chef I found this concept very interesting. Essentially the author gives us his take on a particular ingredient running the whole range from starters to dessert. You would think this would be boring or repetitive, but it's not in the least. It just goes to show what really talented people can do with something as humble as a grape. It's also quite fascinating to see how he worked to achieve the nuances of flavor we associate with wine and not necessarily with the fruit.

Bruno Barnhardt argues that the Gospel is written in a mandala, a cross inside a circle. The narrative radiates from Christ as its center, uniting God and Cosmos, Jew and Gentile. He begins with his central argument of the mandala, then moves through the gospel showing how it works, piece by piece. It's full of spiritual insight, with wonderful writing from Br. Barnhardt, something all too rare in modern scripture studies.

It's a splendid read.

Enid Blyton books are classics and it is unfortunate that young children are deprived of her wonderful adventure books. Growing up, I learnt to enjoy reading through her books from Noddy onwards through the Secret Seven ,Famous Five , Malory Towers etc. And now I would like my son to enjoy these books that would transport him into a wonderful world of childhood fantasy that is wholesome and brings strong values into his character. It's too bad that publishers see fit to discontinue her books.

What a magnificient analysis full of profound and original insights.This book was done with such exemplary clarity that one need not be a student of philosophy in order to comprehend the ideas that are discussed.I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in discovering the important pathway into the lives and thoughts of the great minds.

Here is a book that truly examines the handwriting of Richard Hauptmann, the man executed for his involvement in the Lindbergh kidnapping case in 1934. The first half of the volume is a retelling of the now famous story. The second half carefully looks at samples of Hauptman's handwriting and compares them with the ransom notes. The author was prepared to testify at the trial but was never called. This is a must for those of us truly interested in the case.

Following my mother's open heart surgery nine years ago, I began thinking about my own health and how to slow down a seemingly inevitable consequence of my own life. Mr. Cortis's compassion for his patients is very reassuring in the midst of ever increasing trends toward the merging of medicine and big business. One thing I really respected is his admission that doctors do not always know best and that a positive, strong will to survive coupled with love and support from family and friends can indeed produce miracles.

His explanations of crucial mind-body-spirit connections are easy to understand and do not come across as the usual standard metaphysical fodder. Using real examples of real people, he shows us the miraculous healing power of touch, the importance of being surrounded with love, and the incredible results of the will to persevere in the the face of adversity. Each chapter also includes explanations of the human body and how the mind influences fun! ction, and mental exercises for creating a better attitude for a healthier heart. Most importantly, he teaches us that we do have a large role in influencing how our bodies heal themselves, and suggests many ways to achieve this, much of which is based on how we view ourselves.

I have enjoyed this book immensely and am reading it a second time four years later; to remind myself that I CAN make a difference and that it is in my own best interest, as well as of those who care about me, to do so.

Korman has enough flair and and enough off-the-wall ideas to keep this book (and the others in the series) entertaining even after reading it half a dozen times. An excellent book for younger readers (he wrote the book while he was in 7th grade) who arn't ready for his other hillarious high-school geared books (Semester in the life of a garbage bag, don't care High, and Son of Interflux.) I still enjoy his books immensly and I'm almost out of College.

A must read for every citizen of Illinois. Easy to read to get an understanding of what is happening to the state of Illinois. The book outlines the reason for the convention, a rebuttal to each negative reason for not having the convention and a recomendation for what should be included in an a new state constitution, if the vote for the convention wins.
