This is a book of post-cards. This means that each portrait is printed on card (obvious, really) and held into the back by a tear-free glue. So, you can keep the collection, or send individual pictures to friends. You do need to be careful if you keep them because repeated creasing of the spine WILL loosen the cards.

The pictures themselves are the usual brilliant Bel Ami standard of this gorgeously put-together guy. Lighting and sharpnes of focus are exemplars.

This would make a wonderful stocking-filler for those of you who are into the Christmas thing. Otherwise, just wrap a copy and make your friend's day.

These color postcards of Lukas are beautiful. These are images by himself and with the many other top Bel Ami models. They are all nude shots except for a few. Lukas has always been the top model at Bel Ami, in both print and videos. This is a wonderful collection of postcards, that will surely delight anyone you send them to, or for your own personal collection. These postcard books will definitely become a valuable collectors item in the future. This is number #31 of the series, lets hope there are more.

Just LOOK at the cover photograph!! I defy you not wish you could just crawl into the photograph and unfold Johan's arms and legs.

This book is a brilliant collection of postcards, neatly bound into a cover, so that you can collect or send. Your friends will love the cards, even if they have to collect them from the postman's hands!

Good Bel Ami models, sexy, unobtainable(?), and made to lust after.

This is another great postcard book, No.#21 in the series. It showcases the best images from the hardcover book "Summertime." These postcards feature photographer "Bel Ami's" young, handsome European male nude models. All of the models have breathtaking bodies. A great collector's item to add to your collection if you have been collecting the previous 20 postcard books, or great to just have available to send as postcards or notecards to your friends who will surely appreciate them.

little jewels

These stickers are small, pretty reproductions of various pieces of artwork. Each sticker is unique in the book, no doubles of any picture. They aren't the most perfect color plates ever, but they're basically for correspondance and craft purposes, or could be used as a reference (say, by Art History students). While I wish there had been duplicates, I can't fault Dover for erring on the side of variety, and I can't argue with the wonderful value the price represents. This little book is great as stationery, but it would also make a nice stocking-stuffer or gift topper. If Botticelli isn't your favorite artist, Dover has made books of other artists' work, which Amazon also offers and which are just as nifty.

BOTTICELLI's art tells what he liked in other artists: the shaded color and light of Andrea del Verrocchio, the energy of Antonio del Pollaiolo, and the faces of Fra Filippo Lippi. From Bruno Santi's book, it becomes clear what he liked in his own work: atmosphere, in the coarse tent with the headless Assyrian King Holofernes and in the dawn alive with Judith and her lady-in-waiting; attention to detail, in the blue enamel armor and metal highlights of his Fortitude; color, in the dawn flesh tones under the cornflower- and daisy-decorated clothing on his Birth of Venus; innovation, in the clear path to the larger-than-life 16th-century art with his Calumny, in the first early Renaissance freely placed figures with his Primavera and in the first Italian inscription in a painting with his Madonna enthroned with saints; meditation, in the golden dusk of his Adoration of the Magi; tension, in the contorted acolytes at his Communion of St. Jerome. The author also shows in his Scala/Riverside published work what the Florentine art world was doing during David Landau and Peter Parshall's THE RENAISSANCE PRINT 1470-1500. Likewise, his beautifully illustrated text is a good way to understand Jill Dunkerton's DURER TO VERONESE, Sylvia Ferino-Pagden and Maria Kusche's SOFONISBA ANGUISSOLA, Mary D. Garrard's ARTEMISIA GENTILESCHI, Andreas Prater and Hermann Bauer's PAINTING OF THE BAROQUE, and Rudolf Wittkower's ART AND ARCHITECTURE IN ITALY 1600-1750.

This hardcover serial art novel from new team Avery and Garcia is absolutely wonderful. Their art drips with vivid color. The style is reminiscent of Silver Age comic books. I loved the story of the semi-closeted hero and his friends and family. I cannot recommend this strongly enough.

This is a high quality (hardcover) comic book which very much reminded my of some of those classic comics like Spiderman, Fantastic Four, Flash and so on. The art is simply beautiful and the colors are vibrant and lively.

Sunstar and Blue Comet are Golden Bay City's hottests up and coming super heroes. And in the name of media attention they let the public and the media believe, that they're more than just a couple in regard to work. But Blue Comet (aka Derek) is actually gay and very much in love with Sunstar's little brother Justin. Derek wants to end this half-closeted life, but is afraid of the consequences. Who ever heard of a gay super hero?

But when Sunstar, Blue Comet and Justin and entire Golden Bay City is threatened by a pair of evil villains, Derek's perspective of what is important in life is changed as he struggles to keep his lover alive.

I am an adult who draws stick figures (and even those don't look so hot). I purchased this book wanting to improve my skills so that I could draw with my kids and not feel like a total drawing idiot.

I looked through the book once and, after following Munari's simple instructions, am now able to draw a very convincing tree. His method is simple, but very effective. It can be built upon to draw very sophisticated trees. I recommend this for adults and children alike.

Simple and practical

"But I can't even draw a straight line!"

A) Straight lines are over-rated, and B) You'd be surprised. This is a wonderful, simple book. It seems aimed at adults none too sure of their own drawing skills, but who must or just want to teach kids to draw.

Even a very young child, but one who's willing to give up the "lollipop tree", will get great results from Munari's simple directions. Munari's tree is a simple thing: the letter Y, drawn again and again. Within that framework, though, there is endless variation. Munari encourages both personal creativity and a systematic exploration of the visual possibilities.

This is a friendly approach to building basic drawing skills. Its second message is just as important, though: the image can be analyzed as well as enjoyed, and visual analysis gives choices. I really wish my early teachers had used more of Munari's wisdom in their teaching.

This book is great. Young readers will find it easy to follow, and will be enchanted by the story of Bruno and his friend Felix as they bake a birthday cake. Be warned, there is a cake recipe at the end of the book, and your child will most certainly want to try it.

After purchasing this book for my son, I decided to buy two more copies for his classroom library. Besides having a great story and pictures, the hardback book has thick pages that should stand up well to constant readings.

Great book for children with active minds

A Good Look at Giordano Bruno's Philosophy

Review Date: 2001-05-10
This book consists of 2 parts. The first part "Cause, Principle and Unity" is about his theory of an infinite universe. While you may either agree or disagree with him on certain points, I think (maybe you, too) will find the idea of a "world-soul" intriguing. This part consists of 5 dialogues.

The other part comprise two essays, one on magic and the other is his treatise on bonding in general. This part presents some ideas which I think would be interesting not just to magicians but anybody who wants to know and wonder, from a philosophical point of view, what magic is and bonding in general.

Any student of philosophy is likely to enjoy this book (either the first or second or both).

Giordano Bruno is not only a writer of marvelous wit and virtuosity, and the only one since Plato to breathe life into the philosophical dialogue, but also a thinker of great consequence, imagination and purity. While he is generally seen to stand at the threshold between the medieval and the modern, cabilistic magic and scientific rationality, it is wrong to regard him merely as an anticipation of Leibniz and Spinoza. In certain respects, indeed, he goes farther in freeing thought from the residues of Scholasticism, and if his understanding of the coincidence of absolute potentiality and absolute actuality as the ground of Being points the way to Schelling, the freer winds of his thinking, with its wondrous openness towards the possibilities of the body as the possibilities of life, make him a kindred spirit of Nietzsche.

Chelsea Boys - In Living Color!

Chelsea Boys, an internationally known strip from creators Glen Hanson and Allan Neuwirth is back and is in living color! "Steppin' Out" picks up where their first book "Chelsea Boys" leaves off, but this time, we are treated to seeing the further exploits of Nathan, Soiree and Sky in color. You don't have to be a member of the gay community to appreciate the topics that face the 'boys,' and whether you are a returning fan or a first time reader of the series, you will fall in love with the rich and complex characters. My only wish is that the next installment comes soon, or better yet - an animated series... Networks: are you listening???

Kudos to Hanson and Neuwirth's CHELSEA BOYS!

I think Chelsea Boys is THE gay comic for the new millennium! It has glamour, it has humour, it has feelings, it's colourful, sexy, at times cynical, crazy at times, at times homely, and Sky, Soiree and Nathan are so lovely! There are so many gay comics worth mention like Cruise's Wendel, J. Asal's Adam & Andy, Greg Fox 's Kyle's Bed and Breakfast, and many, many others, but Chelsea Boys have something of them all, and are really , IMHO the Gay Comics Champions! You remember Poppers by the alas late Mills, fom Meatmen? It featured a hunk-like sky, a not-so successful ordinary guy (like Nathan) and a coloured guy (not glamorous as Soirre, though, but he was black). something of Mill's Poppers revives in Chelsea, I feel.

From one of the foremost top notch quality directors and producers of some of the hottest male homosexual porn on the market, comes a great top notch quality "coffee table" book.

The pages are of thick glossy stock, and the photography is artistically and tastefully done with subtle light, sharp image photos of Chi-Chi La Rue's own exclusive drop dead gorgeous contract models (including Johnny Hazzard)and other male models.
Great eye candy props are used as well.

Some of the photos also have a slight sexual edge (R Rated perhaps, but nothing is X rated), and it's all very tastefully done...It's of much better quality (both artistically and construction wise) than pop music star MADONNA's SEX book any day.

You go CHI-CHI !

Chi Chi Larue makes wonderful porn that leaves the viewer gasping. This still photographic journey provides the view the luxury of lingering on an image that might otherwise move too quickly away while viewing on VHS or DVD. The book parades a host of gay fetishes and will satisfy even the most discriminating of viewers....This book is a must.
